Hi friends! Here is a requested video for a right handed demo for the popular pony bead blanket designed by Jess M. You can find the link to the source in the description box. I've seen beaded blankets before but what I love about this one is that the beads stay upright instead of leaning to the side. Reminds me of an Abacus! Besides a blanket, I can see this being used as a border, purse, bags, straps....so many things 🤩 Hope you enjoy the video xx Washing: Jess uses her washing machine to clean her blanket. She has used high heat with no issues. Keep in mind, she is using acrylic yarn. Other yarns may vary in result. She does not use a dryer because the beads make it noisy. 👍🏻
I am 72 years of age and last night I finished my first ever crochet project ever! A yellow and white self striping blanket with a picot edge to it done in white. I came across your video not knowing if I would do another blanket ever. When I took a look at the project and noticed that it was weighted I immediately thought of my autistic grandson. He wants it done in Camouflage yarn and black beads. He loves me but has never really wanted or asked of me anything! We plan on going to Wal-Mart together to do some shopping together. God Bless you and thank you so much for this pattern....😇
That’s wonderful! The camo blanket already looks so beautiful in my mind. Great luck to you in finishing it and I hope it stays treasured in your family for many generations.
This is such a lovely comment! I’m sure your grandson will love that! I want to give you a big thank you for this comment because I never knew what a picot edge was called until right now! I have been on the hunt for what the edging style is called because I’m in the process of recreating a granny square blanket that my mom’s grandmother (my great grandmother) made for her in the 70s. My mom put the blanket on my bed when I was 8 or so and has joked for years about wanting it back so I’m intending to give her a recreated version of it (the original came with me to Boston when I moved for grad school). I’m 25 now and I never really got to know my great grandmother as she passed when I was about 8 but crocheting makes me feel closer to her and the rest of my ancestors! Two of my great great grandmothers were lace crocheters and seamstresses and I am the first in my family to pick up crocheting in a generation or two. If I ever have a daughter one day I’m planning on naming her Dorothy (Dottie for short) in honor of my great grandmother and the blanket she made my mom that now lives with me in Boston and reminds me of where I came from no matter how far away I am. Your comment brought me closer to her, and for that I cannot thank you enough. Best of luck with all of your future crocheting adventures! I hope that every stitch brings you closer to your family just like it has for me ❤

OMG! I finally found someone who holds their yarn like I do! I have crocheted for over 50 years and have never held my yarn with my index finger held high like I have been told is the "correct" way. Yet I have done afgans, doilies, slippers, and even my daughter's wedding dress (17 balls of Southmaid crochet cotton) and everything comes out nice. So if anyone is new to crochet, or knitting or anything, find out what works for you.
@@queque5williams748 It was! It was burgundy thread with a floor length sleeveless black dress underneath. I made it in a medieval style with bell sleeves and almost a full circle skirt. I used a berry and leaf pattern from a table cover I had found in an old doily book and about three quarters down I made the stitches longer in the back, like turning double crochet to triple, etc., so it formed a small train in the end. I was afraid the weight of the skirt would pull down on the top, so I made an elastic band to be worn just under the bust, and with making the top fitted in the end you couldn't even tell. My daughter had found a necklace with a stone that matched the color of the dress, so I crocheted a small cap and attached the necklace so that the stone hung on her forehead and swagged the chain off in both directions. I had a really long piece of black tulle and found a rectangle of burgundy lace, so I folded the tulle over so the top was just past mid back and the bottom formed a train. I inserted the lace panel in-between and it hit about mid butt. Then I gathered all that at the top and sewed it to the cap, the shorter top tulle making a bouffant. She carried a single red rose. She was radiant in it. Since I had taken every measurement possible it fit her perfectly
I have wanted a weighted blanket for so long, but they’re too expensive to buy, and the traditional way to make it is still quite expensive and very difficult and not in my skill set. However I do have lots of yarn and beads!!! It still would be expensive if I wanted to get more yarn and beads to make a full on blanket, but it’s definitely more in my skill set!! I’m going to try this out :))
this will make a blanket that is significantly heavier than a non-beaded blanket, but nowhere near the weight recommended for actual weighted blankets (10% of users weight + 1lb for a single bed size). the video says it's 5lbs for 3' X 4' (so, 5lbs over 12 square feet). (5/12)*15=6.25lbs for a 3'X5' blanket. it's the recommended weight for a person weighing 52.5lbs. making it wider, a 4'X5' blanket would weigh 8.3lbs (ie. recommended for a 73lbs person). you can play with dimensions a bit, but unless you're very small it's going to be less effective than a "proper" one. which isn't to say "don't make one", but be prepared that you might need to double (or tripple, or more) the thickness for the same effectiveness as one you'd buy in your size.

It literally sounds like a plus in my books, tbh hahah I appreciate the math and explanation of how it would work with an individuals weight though, that is helpful since I think I might want to make one of these for myself!

I made some dice bags using this same technique several years ago, but noted that the weight would make it difficult to use for anything larger. I love how this turns that negative into a positive!
I was thinking the same thing...white yarn, with some UV color changing pony beads, that also glow in the dark, should be a lot of fun. Indoors, it will look rather plain...white with clear beads. Outdoors, in the sunlight, it will be a pastel rainbow of colors. And once charged up with light, it will glow in the dark.
At first I thought this would not be something I would be interested in. However, I watched the video, and I can think of a few little kids that might like it. It's not difficult, just time-consuming. 😂
This is wonderful ❤ I like the suggestion of using this for a purse. And I really appreciate the segment at the start, I don't see detailed information laid out like that often :)
I can totally see myself waking up from a deep nap with this, with my hair inexplicably woven into the beads 😅 we used to have a futon with buttons and that thing was dangerous lol
You did such a better job explaining this than I did. I couldn't find the original creator on tiktok so just mention where it came from. I'll have to go add it in the comments.
I love this style of tutorial, and great close-up view. It's so good to walk through the whole repeating pattern even with the "easy" parts and not just the new techniques. Especially when not everyone holds their yarn in the same way, has the same tension, yarn textures, etc. I always doubt how I'm counting too so seeing it all in detail was a great help for me!
Thank you for this! I gave up making one of these blankets after a row or two because I couldn't stand having to thread beads on the yarn. This is a much better idea!
I only just started mine, but I bought the 1500 piece bucket at Walmart to start. I'm making mine a bit different. I'm doing beads every third row (one row of beads 2 rows of hdc) and it's turning out really nice. I also ordered a bag from Amazon that should be delivered today. I like the ones from Walmart because of the hole size, but I'll find out today if the ones from Amazon are just as good.
I think I will make one with cotton worsted or heavy crochet cotton. I made a quilt using thin sweaters as fill. It's wonderfully warm, and I accidentally discovered the joys of a weighted blanket. On the down side, it's Summer here, and the quilt is too warm. It would be a lot simpler and easier to maintain than a sheet sewn with rows of beads. Thank you!
Hello Roz happy that you're back . I bless the day I found you , because you are truly a gem 💎 .I've tried beads at the end of a scarf when making the fringe just to give it that added touch ; but never thought of adding beads to a blanket . I have tons of those beads lying around and now I will use them to make a bag I also think I will make a clutch because I have the correct colour yarn and beads to make a Xmas gift or two . I'm on a role. As always you are wonderful . Have a great day and week ahead with the boys.
I wonder if this blanket would still be heavy enough if you used the soft silicone beads? Those would make so much more sense because they're squishy, but otherwise identical. A more sleep-friendly natural fiber would be nice, too. 😊
@@PlayHookywithMe I have a lot of pony beads I bought for a project that I didn’t enjoy, so am delighted for your tutorial. Looks like it’s easy and fun 🥰
This is absolutely adorable…added to my to do list to make a project bag!!! Thank you for sharing!!! Perfect timing…I was in my craft room today and came across a tray of pony beads and thought what am I going to do with them…now I know!!! Stay safe and be blessed ❤
I don't know how to crochet at all, but I was very interested in this! I've always wondered how beads get into a crocheted project! It's amazing how much weight plastic beads can add to a small blanket. My Dad used a weighted blanket at the nursing home memory care unit. It seemed to help him relax (he had Alzheimer's) , though it was quite a bit heavier than this.
I thought about making a lap blanket in local school colors for football or soccer season then making a besded bag for it to get folded up and put into with a pocket for tumbler will make great gifts because maybe even for the pro games. I made a blanket where the beads were part of the fringe so all I can say to wash delicate cycle and dryer is low heat or just fluff and then lay out to finish drying... I lay mine on my spare bed then the beads don't pull to much
Dear Roz, Thank you for sharing this blanket pattern. I’ll definitely add this to my library collection. Hi Biscuit 😻 Take care and stay safe. God’s blessings to you and yours 🙏🏽🩷🧶😻🐶🌷🌻🪻
in my experience, red heart super saver feels incredibly scratchy while working with the yarn, but once the piece is finished, washed, and dried, it becomes just as soft as any other mid-range acrylic yarn. even still, I almost wonder if yarn size 3 would have been better for this project due to how small the hook needs to be for the beads, to reduce some of the fabric stiffness you mentioned
Thank you so much for sharing! I’ll have to give this a try. And I’m with you on Red Heart Super Saver Yarn, I’m not a fan of it either. It feels like wool in between my fingers and I’m not a fan of that feel. They do have some really fun colors, but I just wish it was a lot softer. 😊
Maybe the red heart other than super saver is better. I’m not sure … but yes the scratchi-ness of it is even moreso with this than wool for me . Years ago , before it was so easy to order online , I would pop it in the dryer with softener sheets. That helped but it shouldn’t be necessary. There are other inexpensive yarn that isn’t nearly this scratchy. I don’t understand. It’s a shame because I love that you can easily pull the yarn from the center.
FYI red heart sprays the yarn with something to keep the fuzz factor down, once you wash it out it is as soft as can be. A blanket will have to be washed eventually lol I wonder how fun that’s going to be. Honestly I don’t know how you wash other weighted blankets either 😂 it seems like a big task
@@shawnmurray9964 interesting… I’m glad it washes out but it’s a shame because I crochet to relax and the rug burn feeling as I’m crocheting spoils the experience 😕
@@shawnmurray9964 so you’re recommending washing the ball of yarn before crocheting ? Addendum: I just found this for anyone curious… ruclips.net/video/dmPRdFuSOeU/видео.htmlsi=SVdkqCjP04kers8g 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💕
I have one concern with these weighted blankets. How much stretch will the yarn have over time, and what could be done to reduce that. I've had people use acrylic shopping bags that stretch a LOT before they knew it they had to use the bags pretty much to carry light weight items only like cereals, crackers, and other light weight items. The heavier items put in the bag exaggerated the stretch of the acrylic so bad that heavier items, even in small amounts of potato or apples, caused the stretch to be so extreme the bags were almost reaching the floor to make the bag nearly useless in that application. So maybe a mercerized cotton carried with or another sturdier yarn to help prevent the big stretch that could sneak up real fast, or does anyone know of a nice sturdy acrylic bland that could work well for this? I think this is a GREAT blanket that could benefit a lot of people, but I do have concern for the work that goes into it not holding up more than a year or two.
Like I mentioned in the video, the yarn I used was very stiff when worked up so if you’re looking for durability for a bag , this yarn would work. However, my personal approach would be to use a cotton blend rather than acrylic alone to maintain shape. I always use cotton for bags /purses. But a cotton acrylic blend would be ideal for a blanket. That’s just my opinion. I’d love to know what others think.
If you’re concerned about stretch, I would recommend cotton. I made all my shopping bags from cotton yarn, and they stand up very well, and haven’t stretched much over the years of daily abuse. I changed my handle method, though, once one showed wear at the handle connection. Now I drop a hook size, and do a long loop that folds and goes all the way under the bag and comes back up to be both shoulder straps, and I stitch a piece of bias tape or heavy duty ribbon inside for even more handle stability before attaching the handles. I’m able to throw a 25lb frozen turkey in one and carry it across the parking lot and up the stairs like a purse with these and they don’t even act like they noticed once the turkey is removed.
@@nharber9837 I'll make a lap blanket with some cotton later to see how it holds with the beads. I hope this is an awesome trend that holds the test of time better than the roving Blanket trend.
So pretty! I know you used acrylic yarn, but could you use cotton yarn? I am making purses for operation Christmas child boxes & thought this would be cute to decorate them. Also, I noticed you use cotton yarn in other videos. What brand do you prefer? Thanks for sharing!😊
Absolutely, I highly recommend cotton. 👏🏻💕 I love comfy worsted by knit picks when ordering online . I use “I love this cotton yarn” by hobby lobby a lot but it has a tendency to shed as you’re working on it. Im going to try paintbox cotton yarn from lovecrafts.com. (I also didn't realize my typos in my comment. Guess that's what happens when you type without your contacts or glasses!😂) As a retired teacher I had to correct them)
I started making this blanket with 311 chains like you said. This is going to be a lot larger than 3’ by 4’. It measures 7’ long. I have 3 rows of beads so far. Maybe I should start over with fewer chains?
Yes! Start over. It looks like the gal that wrote the pattern used too many . You’re the second person that has mentioned this . I’ll chain it up later today and add an addendum in the description box with the number I get 👍🏻💕
Could you do a double crochet stitch in between the beaded rows? Just to make it a bit looser and less stiff? I think some people would like it for the weight and not the warmth. (some people meaning me, lol)
Thank you for this. My daughter-in-law found a picture and was asking about them. I hinestlt don't know if I'd have the patience to make a full blanket like this. What I really want to know, is what is that blanket you have on the bed at the end of the video? With the cat. It looks soft and squishy and I'd love to get the pattern for that. ❤

Hi! Only just saw the weighted blankets with pony beads. I’m wondering if you know the technique for crocheting the beads inside the layers? Only thinking that kids could hurt each other with the beads uncovered. Many thanks for all your help.
I think there is a video here on RUclips that does a layered version but after a quick search I can’t find it. 😐I wish I could remember what she did . I’ll look again and add an addendum if I find it. I’d suggest looking up “crochet bead blanket” and not pony bead blanket to help broaden your search . 💕🧶
@@PlayHookywithMe… found a Short video by @changepathcrochet, How to embed beads inside a weighted crochet blanket. But she doesn’t do a tutorial, and has a paid pattern.
From what I understand, the weight of it and the feeling of the beads helps to relieve anxiety. Also, the fidget factor of the beads, is satisfying (I found it to be, anyway 😍. ) However adding a liner to one side would be very easy to do. I’d recommend fleece because it’s easy to hand sew on 👍🏻💕 Washing: You can wash this in your washer on a gentle cycle with warm water and then air dry. This is how I read Jess handles it. She chose a durable acrylic yarn for that very reason, to easily wash 👍🏻💕
If using it as a blanket, try it on top of a sheet. It would take commitment for me to make a blanket with these, but it's so beautiful! I might have to make a purse!
I would wash this inside something else-- a pillowcase or net bag of some sort. I shudder at the thought of a bead breaking and goobering up my washer!
I don’t think it would work for hot sleepers . This is designed more for those looking for weight . It’s not necessarily a blanket that will retain heat but I can’t say for sure how hot it will get. I’d recommend reaching out to the designer on tik tok and asking her. She would know best since she made a completed blanket and uses it. 💕
This is really cool 😎 I wonder though do people really cover up with something like this? What exactly are weighted blankets supposed to be good for ? I’m really not sure 🤪Lol
Yes, they really do. It’s known to relieve anxiety. I don’t have a lot of knowledge on this subject but weighted blankets (not necessarily beaded) are definitely a solution for many people. 👍🏻💕
How would you care for this type of blanket? It would seem like it should be hand washed and hung dry. I'm afraid that machine wash and dried would damage the beads.
I checked the comments over on tik tok and the designer on the video used a washer and dryer for her blanket but yes, absolutely use your own discretion 💕
This pops up while I'm waist-deep in a baby blanket of course. XD (Kiddo is coming VERY SOON and the shower is on the 7th!) Just gonna save this for later reference.
Hello I really need advice from an experienced crochet-er! I want to make one of these for my friend but I know she's going to need something more than 5lb so I was looking at doing this with stone/crystal beads. Will the yarn be strong enough to hold together a heavier blanket made with stone beads that ends up something like 10lbs? Should I look into any certain kind of yarn to make it strong? It'll be a wedding/just generally big gift for my best friend who I have been best friends with since we were kids. I'd like her to be able to actually use it. Thanks in advance!!
I don’t use my TT account so I wasn’t aware of this til it started showing up in my crochet facebook groups. I’m wondering how this would work for a pet thundershirt for my aging dog who’s suddenly developed an aversion to incoming storms.
I think it would be fine but if it were me I’d make sure to wash it within some sort of laundry bag or hand wash in the tub and air dry. However , I’d recommend reaching out to Jess over on tik tok to see what she does . I’ll look in her comment section and see if she mentions anything. If she does, I’ll add info in the description box. 💕 Addendum: I just checked and she has washed hers in the washer several times, no issues . Air dries , though, because it’s noisy 👍🏻👍🏻💕
Okay, these are so darn cute. But can anyone tell me how they feel when it's on? I know we wear clothes or PJs or whatever, but do the beads cause any kind of discomfort (asking for a friend that has major sensitivity to anything that touches them).

This is wonderful ❤ I like the suggestion of using this for a purse. And I really appreciate the segment at the start, I don't see detailed information laid out like that often :)
So happy you liked it 💕
I can totally see myself waking up from a deep nap with this, with my hair inexplicably woven into the beads 😅 we used to have a futon with buttons and that thing was dangerous lol
Ouch! I’ve had that happen too 🤦🏼♀️
Not as likely with these beads and the orientation of them but I understand why you’d be worried 😆💕
What if you backed with fabric? Or completely enclosed it, like a duvet?
You could wear a head wrap to bed to contain your hair, maybe?
You did such a better job explaining this than I did. I couldn't find the original creator on tiktok so just mention where it came from. I'll have to go add it in the comments.
Thanks so much, KB. Appreciate your kind words 💕
So glad ❤️
Thank you for this! I gave up making one of these blankets after a row or two because I couldn't stand having to thread beads on the yarn. This is a much better idea!
👏🏻👏🏻💕
Thank you so much! I've been wanting to make one of these but struggled to find a good explanation of which exact beads I needed.
I am so glad it helped! ❤️
I started out doing rainbow loom before i crocheted, and i feel like I'm combining my old skills with the new with this! It looks so fun!
How cool is that 😀👏🏻
I bought my beads at Walmart and was able to use a 4mm hook with them. I used a 5mm for the rest and the 4mm for the bead row. It works really great!
Wonderful 😀👏🏻
How many boxes of beads did you have to buy to make the size she made
I only just started mine, but I bought the 1500 piece bucket at Walmart to start.
@@karleedu sounds beautiful 🤩 keep me posted 💕
@@PlayHookywithMe It's coming along nicely. I tried to send a picture of what it looks like, but I don't see a way to do that.
Thank you!
Awesome discovery on the yarn ! 💕💕
I have a bunch of glow in the dark beads I’ve never used I would love to use them for this
😍😍😍 how fun 🤩
Thank you for posing this! I was so inspired I took a trip to Joanns for some pony beads and Im going to make a tote!
Fantastic! 😀👏🏻💕
you can use glass, metal, or stone beads for a heavier weight and to keep heat better.
I was thinking of small nuts from the hardware store, but they might not be any cheaper than metal beads.
You give a fabulous explanation with visuals -love your voice & calmness which helps me follow along more easily. Thank you
Thank you 😀💕
You’re so clear and informative. I very much appreciate the tips and recommendations as well as the conversion to metric for the yarn. ❤️
Thank you so much 😀💕
I’m in love with this, thank you for such a wonderful tutorial ❤
So glad you enjoyed it! 😀👏🏻💕
I love the way you think ! 👏🏻👏🏻💕
Thank you so much , Angela, I hope you have a wonderful week ❤️😽😽
This is so cool. The bead is like the yarn over at the beginning of the half double crochet.
Very pretty; great idea. Clear instructions as always. Thank you for this tutorial.
Thanks so much 😊
this is the perfect combination of my two big hobbies. Excited to try this pattern!!!
Excellent 😀👏🏻💕
I wonder if this blanket would still be heavy enough if you used the soft silicone beads? Those would make so much more sense because they're squishy, but otherwise identical. A more sleep-friendly natural fiber would be nice, too. 😊
That’s a great idea. 💡 👏🏻
That is truly genius!!! Hdc is my favorite stitch and I love how you add the beads. Can’t wait to try it🥰
It’s so fun and if you like the sound of things like knitting needles tapping together , you’ll love this. ASMR 😍
Wonderful, so glad 😀👏🏻💕
I have an overwhelming desire to dig out my beads. Thank you. 😊
👏🏻💕
I don't know how to crochet at all, but I was very interested in this! I've always wondered how beads get into a crocheted project! It's amazing how much weight plastic beads can add to a small blanket. My Dad used a weighted blanket at the nursing home memory care unit. It seemed to help him relax (he had Alzheimer's) , though it was quite a bit heavier than this.
That’s great to know 😀 Thank you for sharing 💕
This SO cool. New project. Thanks for sharing!
👏🏻💕
I thought about making a lap blanket in local school colors for football or soccer season then making a besded bag for it to get folded up and put into with a pocket for tumbler will make great gifts because maybe even for the pro games. I made a blanket where the beads were part of the fringe so all I can say to wash delicate cycle and dryer is low heat or just fluff and then lay out to finish drying... I lay mine on my spare bed then the beads don't pull to much
Great tips, thanks! 👏🏻💕
I have 2 autistic grandsons and this is one that would be great for them.
Thank you for the information and directions for this project.
Wonderful 😀❤️❤️
Dear Roz,
Thank you for sharing this blanket pattern. I’ll definitely add this to my library collection.

For a bag, this might be cool in hemp cord for a bomb look.
Trés Cool! 😎
Oooh, I need to go try this asap!! Thanks for the clear tutorial and for inspiring creativity during a slump!
You bet 😀👏🏻💕
This could make a cute weighted cardigan as well
🤩 love it!
This is the cutest RUclips name! Very clever.

I’m enamoured!!! Would it be crazy if I tried this never having crocheted before? 🙈
🤣🤣 ❤️
God, what I wouldnt give to be able to mentally grasp crochet. it looks so fun
It really is fun ❤️
Thank you for this awesome tutorial with the beads. I’m thinking of adding a crochet bead trim to my jeans. Love from Hot!! Texas.
That would be so cute 😍
This is easily the most helpful and informative video I’ve seen on these blankets. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this ☺️
So glad 👏🏻🧶❤️
Nice! I’ll try to find some cotton wool for summer ❤
Fascinating, never seen anything like this. Wow its lovely 😊
I thought so too, Jo 👏🏻💕
Lovely and clear, even as a left-handed crocheter! (Also, hello cat! ❤)
Thank you! 😊 💕
in my experience, red heart super saver feels incredibly scratchy while working with the yarn, but once the piece is finished, washed, and dried, it becomes just as soft as any other mid-range acrylic yarn. even still, I almost wonder if yarn size 3 would have been better for this project due to how small the hook needs to be for the beads, to reduce some of the fabric stiffness you mentioned
Awesome, thanks so much for sharing your experience. Trying weight 3 is a great idea. Love it 👏🏻💕
Thank you so so much for this tutorial again! I appreciate it ❤
Absolutely! It's such a fun one! xx
Wow that looks stunning 🤩
I'm curious from all that have one. What is washing and drying this thing like?
@@PlayHookywithMeyou shouldn’t use fabric softener on acrylic, it sits on the surface, wash it instead ❤

I just found this for anyone curious…

I love comfy worsted by knit picks when ordering online .
I use “I love this cotton yarn” by hobby lobby a lot but it has a tendency to shed as you’re working on it.
Im going to try paintbox cotton yarn from lovecrafts.com. I’ve heard good things about this brand of cotton yarn 💕
@PlayHookywithMe thanks! I used I love this cotton for some bucket hats and it worked well, I didn't have shedding problems. Please share your thoughts on the new yarn. (I also didn't realize my typos in my comment. Guess that's what happens when you type without your contacts or glasses!😂) As a retired teacher I had to correct them)
Love your content, you are amazing at your craft.....❤😊
That’s means a lot to me, thank you so much 💕
I started making this blanket with 311 chains like you said.
I’ll chain it up later today and add an addendum in the description box with the number I get 👍🏻💕
I would love to make this blanket with cotton and stone beads. I wonder where I could find that many stone beads in the same size ❤🕊
Wouldn’t that be gorgeous 🤩
This is a great video! How do you wash a blanket like this?
Check description box for details . You may find more answers in the comments as well. 💕
Could you do a double crochet stitch in between the beaded rows? Just to make it a bit looser and less stiff? I think some people would like it for the weight and not the warmth. (some people meaning me, lol)
Absolutely, I don’t see why not. It would be lovely 👍🏻💕
Oh my gosh, I love this Roz, so pretty.
Thank you! 👏🏻💕

@ I’m glad you found something 👏🏻
This is kind of cool but How would you wash this and how would this actually feel on your body with those beads I wonder ?
From what I understand, the weight of it and the feeling of the beads helps to relieve anxiety. Also, the fidget factor of the beads, is satisfying (I found it to be, anyway 😍. )
However adding a liner to one side would be very easy to do.
I’d recommend fleece because it’s easy to hand sew on 👍🏻💕
Washing:
You can wash this in your washer on a gentle cycle with warm water and then air dry. This is how I read Jess handles it. She chose a durable acrylic yarn for that very reason, to easily wash 👍🏻💕
If using it as a blanket, try it on top of a sheet. It would take commitment for me to make a blanket with these, but it's so beautiful! I might have to make a purse!
@@spcatmom great point about placing it on top of something else, yes 😀🙌🏻💕
@@PlayHookywithMe thank you ! Good info ..
I would wash this inside something else-- a pillowcase or net bag of some sort. I shudder at the thought of a bead breaking and goobering up my washer!

Thanks so much , Samantha 😀💕
Thank you so much always wanted to learn how to add beads to crochet items for another pop of texture pizazz
Great 👏🏻💕
I am curious as to how important it is to use the different hook sizes. Could you not just use the smaller size hook that fits in the bead?
You could, but it might affect the height / tension of your stitches . See what you think 👍🏻💕
How warm is this as a blanket? Would this work for hot sleepers? Are there any modifications that would make this work for hot sleepers?
I don’t think it would work for hot sleepers . This is designed more for those looking for weight . It’s not necessarily a blanket that will retain heat but I can’t say for sure how hot it will get. I’d recommend reaching out to the designer on tik tok and asking her. She would know best since she made a completed blanket and uses it. 💕
Thanks, Mom! This was much easier to understand.
Love this idea-thanks so much for sharing!
Do you know if this would be washable?
I’ve read from the designer mentioned in the beginning , that she washes it on a gentle /warm setting and air dries.
Thanks so much!
Love this! This is so pretty! I would love a bag made out of it, or a throw pillow ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

This is so neat! 😮😊
I love it! 🤩👏🏻💕 such a fun and tactile project .
Could this be done with 3-weight yarn (maybe using the small hook all the way through)?😅
Give it a try and see! 😀👏🏻
I did see this on Tiktok. Looks so good! I’m tempted although know a good size would take ages 😉 😂
True 😆💕
I love it. It would definitely make a beautiful purse or basket. Great job! ☮️🌎🌲

Excellent tutorial. Thank you so much. :)
I’d definitely recommend a 100% cotton yarn for this. It doesn’t have as much stretch as acrylic and wool and will hold its shape 👍🏻💕
@@PlayHookywithMe Thank you!! I'll do that.
I don’t use my TT account so I wasn’t aware of this til it started showing up in my crochet facebook groups.

Do you have a left handed demo? Or know where I can find a good demo for this?
Yes - the tik tok channel I mentioned at the beginning shows how to do it left handed. I recommend you check it out.
How do you think this would stand up in the wash?
I think it would be fine but if it were me I’d make sure to wash it within some sort of laundry bag or hand wash in the tub and air dry.
However , I’d recommend reaching out to Jess over on tik tok to see what she does .
I’ll look in her comment section and see if she mentions anything. If she does, I’ll add info in the description box. 💕
Addendum: I just checked and she has washed hers in the washer several times, no issues . Air dries , though, because it’s noisy 👍🏻👍🏻💕
Thank you so much for looking that up for me
Okay, these are so darn cute. But can anyone tell me how they feel when it's on? I know we wear clothes or PJs or whatever, but do the beads cause any kind of discomfort (asking for a friend that has major sensitivity to anything that touches them).
