Been pretty much a dancer all my life , become disabled in 92. Now I'm 70 and want to do something even if it's going to a playground and sit on a swing. Hope this gave you a smile. Your adorable. Thanks for good memories.

Hello! This video is meant for those who are learning aerial hoop, it is not an instructional video, it is more to help people remember the names we use and more of a reminder. I have put in the notes that it is best to attend lessons with a professional and not try this on your own as it is dangerous. I uploaded this video as I couldn't find anything like this when I was learning and it would have helped me so thought why not try and help others :o)

Thanks for this! Very thorough. Just a tip for those watching: make sure your hands (while holding the lyra) are brought directly under the point before mounting. This will prevent it from swinging. The further from the point, the more you will get the unwanted swinging.

I’ve just started doing aerial (had 4 lessons so far) and wanted to set some goals, but I didn’t really know any of the poses, so this video was really helpful! Now I have a list of which ones I want to work towards 😊 thank you!

Ran out of space... The course is put together for professional fitness instructors. Mainly pole dancers as most have the strength to start with, they attend a weekend course then have up to a year to complete the exam which is to teach an aerial hoop lesson and they are marked on it. They also need to be able to demonstrate each move to show they are able to safely excute each move to a high standard. I really enjoyed the courses and they were a couple of the best courses I have attended xx

HI- I started taking aerial classes at the age of 39. I have no dance or gymnastics background, its definitely more difficult for me and takes longer to learn new moves than those who have that background, having said that if I can learn it- you can too! BTW I'm doing it because it so much fun and have no intention of performing!

This is fantastic! I've just started classes and I'm putting a hoop in my living room (we have a girder that our hammock is hanging from already so why not put a hoop in too?) and this video is going to help me unbelievable amounts while practising in between classes. Thank you so much for the instructions & the very clear way you enter & exit the moves. Beautiful!

I'm 12 but I had 3 teachers the first started learning when he was 23-24 my second teacher was a gymnast before but started aerial when she was 23-24 too and my latest teacher started learning when she was 26 (I think) without any background. And all of them are amazing for people who started learning in such a age so I'm pretty sure you can start now too!.

Watched this so many times now - there are moves they teach in the class but by the time I get to practice them at home silly things like hips in front or behind the bar can go clear out of my head so your tutorial has been a brilliant reference. The one I still can't do is the crescent moon - every time I try it hurts like heck as the hoop catches just between the legs - ouch!!!! :-/ xxxx

Hey Abby! It does seem a bit nuts but I think the idea around it is to educate people safe practice, not to become an aerialist over night. I really admire what aerialists can do and I know I still have a lot to learn, I teach what I know in a safe environment. I'd rather teach my students safely then them go somewhere else who doesn't (there is still a lot of un-safe practice going on in the pole world as you can imagine!). xx

Another easy way out of star in the bar is to bring one leg to the other side of the hoop and push down with your front leg so you turn up into wineglass. It's one of my favourite transitions

Hi, there are loads of exercises you can do. I found chin ups helped but I was already quite strong as I was pole dancing for 5 years before I started hoop. But any arm strength building and core strength exercises will all help towards aerial work.
