I think this is fantastic video especially for teachers knew to teaching hoop ! Been getting lots of costumers been teaching it for two yrs now ! Thankyou so much ladies your are amazing coaches xxx
When you do the straddle from the top bar/in the hoop, how is the hoop not tilting? I am always scared to do it because it feels like the hoop will slip away from me. Does that make sense lol? Just wondering is your hoop really heavy maybe?
+avahni piper Thank you! We added Baby beats as a starting point so you know what parts to engage instead of just swinging upside down. After that section Leah demos full beats and uses her whole body :)
I recommend pressing both feet up to the sky first, getting yourself vertical kind of like pencil, then slowly take the legs apart and focus on getting your back leg thigh to touch the bar for some stability. For example if it were done that way in this video, it would be the woman's left leg at 6:22 pressing on the upper bar. The hoop may wobble a bit while you separate the legs, but it will steady once you settle into the split. I hope that helps :)
Okay so I know how to do the Man in the Moon but I really want to learn the Inverted Man in the Moon. I don't know how to turn and all of that. Could someone please explain it to me?
Watch her hand position. One high back of hand towards your face, second hand low palm towards your body. Twist body pushing away with the top hand, your feet and shoulders/back stay in contact with the hoop during the twist. Your hips, shoulders and feet will be in contact at the end.
+Isabel Siñeriz I also HATE the foot hang (hence Leah demoing it, ha ha) I suggest seeing a professional as they will be able to see what you are doing and guide you through it xxx
The idea is for the bar to be right where shin meets your foot, start with your feet slight raised (about a half inch) with your legs fully in contact with the hoop. As you lower onto your feet the skin will pull slightly, although this may be uncomfortable at first, but the end result on far more secure and comfortable.
Hey Rebecca, everyone's syllabus is different. All of our beginners stuff is below or in the hoop. As soon as we use the top bar it is intermediate to advanced level as the risk is higher and it also takes more strength etc.
I always wear socks when I'm training but if I am competing or training doubles then depending on my costume, theme, what tricks I'm doing etc depends if I wear socks. If learning a new move involving foot grip then obviously I don't wear socks. It totally depends on the person. Each to their own.
Love these videos - they’ve been awesome references as I’ve been learning - thank you!

Are you using a single or a double point hoop?
I'm wondering if you ever made or posted the int/adv part 2 video?
A tip for the knee hang body beats- try swinging the whole body instead of folding at the hips. You get more momentum.

Though sadly I couldn’t do some of these moves because my set up is different

I try to do the foot hang but it hurts my feet a lot! Any technical suggestion for the feet position?

One of the first rules of hoop never wear socks!!!
Anna Chambers why?
If you do ticks inside the hoop than you can slip off and fall, it's happened to me lots😐

That’s not true I wear socks because the hoops at the place where I train are covered in Ribbon so I wear socks for better grip
I also wear socks when training
