I was a teenager with severe depression (undiagnosed Biopolar II Disorder) when this song came out. I had multiple episodes and suicide attempts, my mom used to sing this song to me during an episode while gently stroking my hair. I'm much better now, haven't had a severe episode or attempt in over a decade, but this song holds a special place in my heart❤

I just saw Everything Everywhere All at Once with my sibling, and I chuckled when Alpha Waymond quoted it (and was the only one in the theater who did), and then I felt so vindicated when it played in the movie a few minutes later.
Lol. I was also the only one in the theater snickering when he said that. I don't know if it was the odd phrasing "your clothes never wear as well the next day" or his cadence in saying the line, but it instantly made me think of the song, and then of course the second line cinched it.
haha! I just had to look this song up so I could let my friends in on why I was laughing when he said that line.

Watched EEAAO four times, but didn’t know the significance of those two lines. Somehow this is the first time I’ve ever heard this song.
So the context/story behind this song, he said way back when his soon to be future wife really wanted married but he couldn't at the time cause his rockstar life. Everytime she'd see friends or someone getting married she'd get frustrated. He said she was driving him nuts, but he looked at her laughing with her friends and thought he absolutely loved her when she smiles. Then the song all came together with that sentence of thought. He's still married to her and is an english teacher.
