Great video....i love the fact that you showed how to remove the distress ink....I love the fact that you can still see the wording in the bible....thanks for sharing
love the page it looks like my backyard during the sun setting. it's so funny how popular cacti have become and I have realized I take it for granted and how beautiful the desert really can be and that I see them daily and some people have never seen them thanks for the reminder to be grateful for what I have God bless have a wonderful week
Thank you so much for this video! I've been wanting to learn more about Bible Journaling with Distress Inks! You've done an amazing job and I'm excited to see what I come up with. The inks blend so beautifully and I love how you used them different ways! Please do more videos with Distress Inks bc I love learning from your videos. Thanks girl! 😊❤️🙏
Thank you for this video! I'm new(ish) to so many different techniques, and never would have thought about embossing in my Bible! I'm inspired to try this now!
Love your video! I'm new to all this, so I especially appreciate the tips you include about the different materials you use and how they behave, and that you list the items you use. Thank you!
I see "Him" in cactus forms, just cool right? Love!😇thanks! I want to try the masking pen too. Had to add that the first time I water colored in my bible, I applied clear gesso and the watercolor looked great but dried and peeled right off😁 they were pots of iridescent watercolor, so maybe that's why? Anyway now I don't gesso on watercolor pages and they behave gloriously. FYI to newbies out there. I still love my page but have messy look to that one, oh well.
What a great video! I liked all your explanations of the materials and techniques. I would have liked to see the back of the page to see how it did not bleed through. )
✨ Hello Lindsey I just begin the bible journaling. In my country ( la FRANCE) it was impossible to find a bible for journaling in French. Now, since few monthes, it's ok! Soooo I 'm searching for examples like your video, and I 'am very happy to find some tips 🍾🍷🍇 Best regards from a frenchie chriatian channel 🍾🍷🍇 𝓑𝓔 𝓑𝓛𝓔𝓢𝓢 𝓲𝓷 J𝓔𝓢𝓤𝓢 𝓝𝓐𝓜𝓔
Beautiful page! I ordered a couple stamps from Sonshine Stamp Co from your other video suggestion. Looks like I'm gonna go order these too! 🌵🙂. Super cute set! Thanks for sharing!
I have used mainly watercolors in my bible and have not had too much of an issues getting the paints to behave. I do use a grittier gesso (Liqutex clear gesso), so that may be why.
+Nerdy Crystal Renee I have found that they behave better on the Liquitex since it is grittier like you said. I just don't love water coloring over super smooth gesso.
I really enjoy your videos! I am very thankful for them and love learning about art supplies from them and how to use them! Are you able to recommend any water brush pens? I didn’t see those in the links for supplies. Thank you!!!
SO beautiful! Lindsey, I am just starting to explore your channel and your blog, so you may have already answered this... is there a kit you recommend for bible journaling beginners?
I've watched a few of your Bible journaling pages, but I JUST have some questions. I've seen you use the Dena Wakely Clear Gesso and the Dena Wakely Matte Gel Medium to prep your pages. Is there a difference in these, and what is your all-time favorite medium for prepping your pages? TY for sharing all you do with all us beginners!!! 💕
Love this! Thanks Lindsey. One question ????? Why did you use a card to spread the gesso instead of a brush? Is it smoother than a brush? Thx again. :-)
What was the liquid you put on with a card? It was the first thing you did? Please tell me what the name of it is? You did a beautiful work on this page! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I prepped the page with clear gesso. I have found that it’s better to work with distress inks on an unprepped page because they don’t want to fully dry when applied over gesso.
Hey! Im Alicia nearly 13 What black pen do you recommend.end to write and outline in a journaling bible in this case my promise bible, (to write when journaling like calligraphy) thanks! ❤ your very creative!
Great video! Question for you about the Distress Inks over Gesso - I love Distress inks but usually stay away from using them on gesso or acrylic paints in my mixed media work - because the distress inks are water-based and don't fully "set" on gesso (which is non-porous). So I'm wondering - do you have issues with the color transferring onto the other page of your bible when you close your bible? Or do you find that the ink comes off on your fingers if you handle the page? Thanks!
+Andrea Walford it is a little tricky to work with on gesso. I'm careful to not apply too much ink and I usually rub a piece of paper over it once it is dry to pick up any extra ink so it doesn't transfer. It does eventually dry to where I can handle the page without too many problems.
Hi! I'm a new subscriber! You are easy to understand! 😁 Can I ask what kind of Bible is yours? The margins look roomy, the type looks big... trying to find a Bible to journal in. I really want the leather one with the flap and strap, large print. Only concern? What if it starts getting thick?
+Apple Vanna thanks! Here I'm using the Crossway ESV Single Column Journaling Bible. I've always wanted the leather wrapped one but mine get super chunky so I'm not sure how that would work out.
i've saved so much information lately on bible journaling, i cannot recall if someone has found a black ink that doesn't bleed without page prep or acrylics being applied to the page first? (i know the illustrated faith pigment inks don't bleed, but wondering if there's a waterproof one anyone has found) lovely page as always and of course now I want the stamps! haha thank you for sharing.
+kanona0115 I'm on the hunt for the elusive nonbleeding waterproof black ink 😂 I don't think it exists since the properties that make it waterproof also cause it to bleed. For now I just deal with the bleeding.
+Aunt Sassie you can only apply a very thin layer of distress inks and hit it with your heat tool really, really well. It’s not perfect but it prevents bleed through and helps with blending.
Great video....i love the fact that you showed how to remove the distress ink....I love the fact that you can still see the wording in the bible....thanks for sharing
Lovely and lovingly done. I'm sure you caused God to smile.

Wonderful demonstration as always Lindsey! :) Love the muted look of the distress inks! Also, congrats on 3000 subscribers!!! Much deserved!

I like the ones from Arteza, they have a few different options and they are good quality.
this is beautiful

How inspirational!! Thank you for sharing!! What is the name of the brown paper you used to put your ink and paint??

Micron pens are my go to pens after all these years.
@@LindseyDecor Thank you so much! ❤
Gorgeous, i love it. Does that clear gesso have a scent?
A little bit but once it’s dry you can’t smell it 😉
Enjoy watching you🙋🏻what Bible are you working on?
I have the Crossway ESV Single Column Journaling Bible.
Thanks for the great video. So is this ink still not set? If you touched the page with a sweaty hand at this point would it make a mess?
Distress Inks will always reactivate with water even if it wasn’t done over gesso...they will never set 100% because of the nature of the ink.
Thanks!
Great video! Thanks! I have several and grasps I just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed one.
Thanks
Do the distress inks smear at all om the other pages?
They do not as long as they are fully dry and as long as the pages don’t get wet.
So how do you seal it so you don't smear it with your fingers as you read and study your bible?
It eventually dries. I can flip through it now with no problems. You could use a spray sealer though if you want it locked in.
Lovely!! :)
I need a new Sunshine link, this one didn't work anymore 😞
Unfortunately they are no longer in business.
It seems to me that prepping the page with gesso keeps the distress inks from ever completely drying. 😖
+Aunt Sassie you can only apply a very thin layer of distress inks and hit it with your heat tool really, really well. It’s not perfect but it prevents bleed through and helps with blending.
It seems silly to buy a stamp to do a cactus... easy to draw or trace.
+1deleau if you are comfortable doodling but a lot of people don't have the confidence so a Stamp is a great resource for them.
