Am finding your channel a great help in maintaining my sobriety . I am now nearly 3 months sober. I am 66 & had been secretively drinking a bottle of wine a day for almost 30 years. The impetus to stop came just before Christmas when an old friend I had lost contact with, died from the effects of alcoholism & my youngest son gave me a wake up call by pleading with me to stop drinking. After recovering from the anger & shame of being confronted with my alcohol addiction, I decided to stop. At the same time I was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation & started on medications.
I have managed numerous times to stop drinking for around 2 weeks but inevitably go back to my old habits. As a diabetes health coach I can help others to change their behaviour but was unable to apply it to my own behaviour.
It’s been a struggle at times but fast forward to my GP visit this week with the results of my blood tests. My blood pressure was normal for the first time in years so have had to half my medication dose. I have lost 3kg, my liver function test was normal, have had no episodes of AF & I feel fantastic 😊

You must be helping thousands of people like me .

I think key message you get across is any attempt to get sober is important, even if you don’t stay sober. A constant journey but for many, it is off and on. The goal is being off more than you are on! Eventually, totally off, but it is a process for many, not always a switch!

    • @PartyStarterNowOk

So true. I went in to this journey and just had the end of January as my goal. Didn’t really have a destination or target. Felt better and better and continued to now (bar one blip). Now I need to manage my expectations of others around me (including my partner) who still drink. Tempted to pull them toward the light and want them to enjoy the energy and positivity sobriety brings. Have to tread carefully there though… Wishing you well!!

Thanks to everyone who comments, they’re helpful and inspiring! I’m about 2.5 months sober. This episode was perfect timing as my sleep still sucks sometimes like last night and looked in the mirror this morning wondering when I may look refreshed. Have noticed I generally have more energy especially in the afternoon and have less depression after dinner. Less body aches too.

What else do you think needs improving to get you better sleep results?
      Caffeine?
      Sugar?
      Nicotine?
      Late night TV, Social Media?
      how about exercise?
I have a very strict bedtime routine that i know I need to follow.
The thing that helps me shut my brain off at night is to know that I did everything I SHOULD that day (not just working).
Try it out and let us know what you find out 😎

I just wanted to take a moment to share my journey with you all. I've been a long-time viewer of this channel and I truly appreciate the supportive community here.
After years of struggling with alcohol addiction, I made the decision to quit on December 31st, 2023. It hasn't been easy, especially considering how prevalent alcohol is in my country. For over a decade, I was consuming significant amounts of hard liquor (600-800 ml) or 4-5 litters of beer on a daily basis.
Since then, I've been making progress, albeit gradual. I've managed to reduce my alcohol intake to just two beers per week, down from my previous consumption. While I'm not completely sober yet, I'm determined to keep pushing forward.
I want to extend my gratitude to this channel and its creators for being a source of inspiration and motivation. And to anyone else out there who is struggling, remember that every small step counts. Stay strong, and know that better days are ahead.
Thank you all for your support.

I love this channel, especially getting a peak at your progress over time. Your journey makes you far more relatable to people on their own sober path. In one month of sobriety, I've saved over $300 by abstaining from alcohol. It's important to celebrate progress along the way, building momentum and motivation to keep going. I took my partner out for a lovely, child free lunch date with some of the savings. I also paid for 3 fight gym memberships for myself and my children. Keeping it going, one day at a time!

Jae, do a small favor, and please never stop making content. Stumbled across your page about six months ago. I’ve been trying to get sober for almost 7 1/2 years. I failed and fallen flat on my face for all those years telling myself I’ll get sober. It’s so true, We really do have to prepare for sobriety. It took me up until February 26, 2024 to finally stop and have that conversation with myself that it was time to change. To make that first step into a detox facility, a program. A new place to live. It definitely has ripped away multiple jobs, my car, multiple places to live. But I can say now over the span of last seven years I’ve actually been able to connect a few dots and see some things progressing in my journey. You are so rad dude thank you!! 14 days today for me.

I AM making Progress! Sober for 67 days! I feel healthier, I'm dealing with some emotional issues that I use to just drown in booze, I'm getting TONS of stuff done around the house, I only have 2 triggers that make me want to drink and they only happen about twice a month and other than that? no cravings, no longings, not even any thoughts of "needing/wanting a drink." Recently, I went to a beloved blues bar ( as a sober person!) and I HAD A BLAST even with no booze. Now THAT is a BIG DAMN WIN!!!! I think I'm losing weight? haven't weighed myself but at least my stomach bloat is going away.👍
