Five Things I Like about the Lexus LX 600 (and One Thing I Don't)

- The Lexus LX 600 often gets compared to other full-sized luxury SUVs in unfavorable ways. That's not to say you shouldn't compare it to the Mercedes GLS or the BMW X7, but these comparisons lack context. The LX 600 is one of the only vehicles on the market, much less its class, that has such unbelievable abilities off road. It really doesn't make sense, but it's amazing at the same time. Does that mean you should forgive it for all of its flaws? Well, that might be entirely up to you, but I'm certainly willing to cut it a lot of slack considering its skillset. I like the faster pace of this video. More driving and talking shots, please. It's nice to know your height because I am also a tall guy. Why not load up a bike or a canoe in the back so we can see what can fit? It's nice to see Toyota/Lexus really leaning into the overlanding/off-roading. I'm considering the Lexus NX 450h+ as my next vehicle to be my city car and explore camping, hiking, biking, and all that jazz. And then that would mean I can get my next dream car... an R35.

My 2023 LX600 F-sport experienced the same low gear hesitation you mentioned.
However, after a transmission software update (which was actually part of a recall due to transmission issues in neutral), that problem got resolved.
Standing just under 6 feet-okay, let's be honest, 5'7"-I also found the backseat area to be uncomfortably cramped.

I drove the GM 6.2 with the cylinder deactivation and the engine was rough but powerful. It was a Sierra but I assume that's the engine in the Escalade and Tahoe that make them less refined because of it.
Maybe… but having driven all versions of it, the classic GM small block still has a lot of life left in it.
Does the delay in transmission get better when you are in sport mode or does the mode only stiffen the suspension?
Maybe a bit, but it doesn’t seem like something you should have to mitigate with a mode switch, especially from normal mode. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

Well, I literally write, shoot, and edit the videos entirely by myself, so there are only so many hours in the day.
I research my next car purchase for at least one year, so 3 months ago I bought a 23 GX 460 & have already decided I want bigger , so I’m seriously looking at the LX 600 but I keep hearing the same thing from reviewers that it’s not as smooth and has vibrations at lower speeds. Why would I go from a $65k buttery smooth Gx to a $105k LX that isn’t as smooth ?
Valid question! Updated infotainment and tech would be the main reason, but the GX is a fabulous vehicle for what it is and equally capable off road. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
As someone who owned a MY19, and MY20 GX460 there is no comparison between the two vehicles. I have also owned a 21 LX570 Sport, and currently own a 24 LX600 and the quality of materials, power delivery, and drive feel is nothing like the GX460. I live in the mountains and my GX460s was always working extra hard climbing up I-40. If you are serious about buying the LX don't think twice...My 24 LX has no issues that you speak of and is smooth as butter while returning 20-21 mpg.
Range Rover SWB is almost the same size and capability as the LX. The LX will appeal to the Consumer Reports Nerds while the RR will appeal to the Night Club Crowd. Escalade and Navigator are also body on frame.
Oh, no doubt about that. The LX’s reputation for reliability gives it that objective advantage when weighing options. That being said, I’m currently driving the Defender right now, and I’d choose that all day every day and twice on Sunday over the LX and Range (if I wanted to go off-road). Staying on the road, I’d go with the Escalade.

@@kyzou3717 For the same price it’s twice as large and will leave it for dead off a stoplight. I just had the Range Rover PHEV, and the comfort was fantastic, but it was too small for our tall family at $130k
@@jax1079 if it's size u r looking for might as well get a van. Escalade it's good for what it is. But it's a body on frame that's no where near as comfortable as a range Rover. Yes there's reliability issues but rr is probably not ones only car, and it's miles ahead of the escalade in terms of its interior. I don't own a rr btw, but escalade is just a people hauler better suited as a shuttle. If it's acceleration u r looking for why not get a Urus or cayenne gt or bentayga? Value for money shouldn't be a concern at the price ranges anyways. All these vehicles are getting high up there in price.

I’ve had the new LX 600 F sport for about a month I like it but it is cramped. The old lx would fit 8 People this one only fits seven its also missing things like massaging seats or captains chairs and a panoramic roof those are all things you would expect in a 100k and up luxury suv also going on a long road trip. You really wish you had that extra space in the back row I would’ve gone with an Escalade, but I just don’t trust the reliability and I didn’t wanna pay 30 K over msrp with all these local ripof dealers
Understandable. And you’re absolutely right. Personally I’d take the new GX 550 over the LX now.
Space is an issue but 200 series wasn't anymore roomier. My 23 fullsize RR was much more roomier than my LX but I am the only one in my vehicle; so space was a non-issue. I have also driven the Escalade, but quite honestly like the RR better than the Escalade.
I am not an EV guy but Rivian R1S (second gen) looks very nice. And for the price of an LX F Sport you can pick up a quad motor R1S.

Not sure If your comments are valid at this point. The gx550 is crimping sales of this. Lx600 is actually a lot smaller than an escalade but it has the magnetic ride control. The lx600 is a lacking many of the features of lc300 and that God awful interior needs to be redone on next refresh. All in all this lx600 is in big trouble unless lexus makes major updates to slot it above the gx550
This is very true. The GX pricing, size, and capability make the LX 600 a bit of a tough sell. The LX is NOT big inside, so for my tall family it would be pointless to get over the GX 550. Honestly, we might go Land Cruiser at this point if we don’t get the Sequoia TRD Off-road.
Purchasing a LX600. Stove both back to back the GX feels cheaper overall and the ride quality did not compare.
The LX felt like it was carved much more out of stone.

I think the bigger problem for Toyota will be the number of people getting a Tahoe or Yukon over the Sequoia, which just isn’t competitive with the Ford and GM big boys.
