I think he also did, because he actually used both of the SGs he had (the brown buddha one you see in this video, and there is a black one with a dragon inlay) in the studio as well, and not just live. He only uses the PRSs live nowadays, and uses strats and other guitars in studio... He doesn't sound as good anymore, he lost his technique and passion he had sadly, but it's alright because we got youtube!
I have just to agree with all of your commentaar and I think that it's just A pity he is not using it anymore Hey you I really get it this is one of the heaviest guitars ever built but hey it was actually built on Carlos Santana specificaties And After The YAMAHA factory made all the things right for him He Swapped The Pick-ups out for real 59 PAF.LES PAUL PICK-UPS YOU CAN SEE IT IN THE VIDEO'S
Oh boy! I love this band. The band itself. Santana without this band is not as appealing to me. I thought they were best in this period. Excellent instrumentals and great hooky lyrical songs with blistering solos. Moonflower the album is a masterpiece of this period. I was lucky enough to see them in Melbourne in 1983 and it was great. Hot band, lots of hits, they had the black singer. It was my perfect gig.
Massive sustain of that Yamaha helps. It was never that much after with the PRS nor before with the gibbons. They all had/have other good things the Yamaha maybe doesn't give him
Probably the greatest performance of all time bare none
lol
I love the way that Yamaha SG sounds!
I AGREE ! the Yamaha through the Boogie Mark 1 with the Altec 417-8h S2 speaker in it is Carlos's all time best sound !
Thanks, I watched this video because I was wondering what guitar did he play between the Gibsons and PRS
I have a PRS and have owned Gibson's, but my Yamaha SG just sings like no other guitar, it's addictive.
Her: when are going to sleep
Me: just after Santana finishes sustaining this guitar note
*2 hours later*
I personally think Carlos’s playing the Yamaha guitar over his current PRS guitars, gave him much more tone and depth.

Cannot agree more with both of you

Many guitarist can play 15 notes per second but only Carlos can play 1 sustain note in a minute.
No one sounds like Carlos. No one. One impassioned note and you know instantly who is playing. An original and musical treasure.
@@bobjasinski7330 we don't know it - our soul does
Epic live version and so much more dynamic then the original studio recording. This takes me back to my teens - great memories.
Perfection! Carlos is a guitar master!

Can I find this version in Spotfy or Deezer?
Why he can take a guitar note for a long time, during the Percussion solo?
Yes, How he does It.
A sustain pedal effect.
That Yamaha sg2000 is definitely playing its part too

@@checa160 Its the weight.
The Yamaha was hurting his shoulders, and PRS gave him his guitar at the perfect timing.
Santana really liked the PRS.
No sabia que viruta tocava bien la guitarra como carlitos Santana
