I remember listening to the cassettes on my walkman all through Italy while traveling on the trains. Thank you Karl. You were beautiful.

This song had such a profound impact on me as an 8-year-old in 1987. Karl Wallinger, you're a genius, and you wrote songs that have been such an important part of this journey for me. This song touched something deep inside my soul and possibly does so even more today, knowing that the world hasn't actually listened and done something about the plight the world faces today, possibly more so than it did back then in 1987, when I first heard it.
Karl Wallinger was a brilliant singer/songwriter since leaving the Waterboys. World Party would have to be one of the most underrated bands in their time. Still love a majority of their songs.
i was the MUSIC DIRECTOR and 89-WBSU-FM "Morning Man", 1984-85, and I remember when I first heard "WHOLE OF THE Moon" by the Waterboys.....Great music...Great Writers and Musicians
When I first heard this song I was a young man of 27,naive and somewhat indifferent to the message. I must admit but after 35 more years of living I hear ya man I hear ya.
As a musician, and a New Orleanian, this song for some reason has a NOLA feel to it to me. World Party had such a creative chemistry and this song in particular was way ahead of it's time.

Wow @@Weenybean.! Really? You think Angelica Huston is a "tranny"?! Umm, OK, guess if a lady is tall and not "traditionally" pretty with little, delicate facial features then she's a man? Even though she grew up in a famous family and her childhood, adolescence, adult career and legacy are very thoroughly documented? Since she was famous director John Huston's daughter. Have fun worrying about the "cabal" of baby sacrificers while the government destroys the environment to keep making big wealth off the planet. It's a shell game man, and they distracted you!
R.I.P Karl. Thank you for the music
Rest up Karl 🙏🏽 im glad this song came back into my algorithm I wouldn’t have known ❤
I just heard this on 100.5 in Atlanta, I can't believe I've never heard this before; it's awesome!
Ive heard this song a million times, ive been aware forever....and the talent this man brought, the meaning, the class of music, is amazing to me. I hope people keep listening to karls messages forever. R.i.p superstar. Rock em up there. ❤
great songs don't age
like whiskey and wine?
I keep coming back to this song. I'm getting old and am scared for my children. Who is going to save them and their children?
Who's going to save us?
I see this song in the shower weekly. For years.

Killer song/video that nobody knows about. I agree, ahead of its time.
If nobody knows about it, then how can we be talking about it?

One of the few songs, and bands, of this era who had a mission and message in their lyrics.
Hope you are ready for a World Party......it's not far away Bro.🎃🎈🎉🎊🎋🎍

@@beepmeepJ Oh my Goodness.......did you forget to set your Alarm Clock...?????💚💜❤💖💙💛🙌😁😃😂🤣
I want to run and hide...right now.....back to the 80's!
I loved this song back in 1987 and I love it even more now. The lyrics have remained powerful.
RIP.. thank you for sharing your talents. So blessed to be able to hear your talents. Thank you
When I first heard this song I was a young man of 27,naive and somewhat indifferent to the message. I must admit but after 35 more years of living I hear ya man I hear ya.
As a musician, and a New Orleanian, this song for some reason has a NOLA feel to it to me. World Party had such a creative chemistry and this song in particular was way ahead of it's time.
A superb song of foreboding and warning. Beautiful lyrics and stunning orchestration.
RIP Karl and thanks for the music :(
Still holds up.
Class .... Never got the recognition they deserved.... Brilliant band.
A fine anthem for our world today, perhaps even more so than it was in '87.
But Beyonce has gotten her recognition. 🤯
Loved this song. A song with actual meaningful lyrics.
A long time favorite song of mine. I can't believe Karl is still at it all these years later even after suffering from an aneurysm.
One of the best songs ever !!
I remember when MTv played music videos and not todays SHIT this was one of the 1st vids i had seen
Obligatory quote for every 80's video. Who needs MTV when we have you-tube?
@@33Luger how will you discover new music?
@@nimrodbong8173 There is plenty of new music on RUclips. They remind me of new songs and artists every day.
@@33Luger but how could you possibly find them? MTV used to have allotted time space for different genres which is how nirvana broke mainstream
Karl, thank you so much for decades of pure-genius music. You are a brilliant musician and your songs never, ever get stale. They are all sparkling gems on each and every listen. You've enriched my life so much, I can't even tell you. Cheers.
Class .... Never got the recognition they deserved.... Brilliant band.
Great song! It speaks the truth!
Couldn't agree with you more Kayse.. They just don't make music like this anymore. Miss those days...….and all of the 80's for that matter.
I absolutely loved this song and World Party were so Underrated.
Give me more of these guys.
This is Absolute Genius.
It was big in Australia in 1987.
The video ended a few seconds too early!!! "All aboard"!!

Brilliant lyrics and composition that hooks me in, I was eleven years Old when this song was released and it had always been appropriate.
Now it's more relevant than then.
But it's worthy of an Award.... Flipping awesome work.
I second that
💯
Man, what a totally epic song this is. Gotta be one of the best songs of the period. And how prescient are the lyrics ? A song thirty years ahead of its time. Well written, well performed. Brilliant.
Over the years each time I return to this song I realize how prescient Karl was. Feel so incredibly fortunate to have seen World Party a few times back in the day and wish life had turned out differently for Mr Wallinger so that he could have continued to provide the world with such incredible and moving music.
FromThe Waterboys to your splendid finale. Thank you.
Prescience and brilliant.

Just stumbled on this hit.I heard it on Sirius XM radio on “MTV Big 40 Countdown” doing this hit from the Billboard Top 40 back in 1987.Have this hit on repeat in my playlist and everything that’s happening in this country resonates with this song.I’m 61 and not tired of this song at all.
A great composer and musician. First two World Party albums are so brilliant. RIP Karl!
