Influencers, they're what make the social media world go round. With product reviews, makeup tutorials, gaming skills, and witty commentary on relevant topics they've become just as big as traditional celebrities. Their relatability makes them way easier to connect with and their "just like you" persona makes them all the more likable. The Tiktok algorithm has also granted everyday regular people the ability to potentially go viral overnight and amass huge followings to monetize off of. But what happens when popular influencers become out of touch with reality and egos start to take over? We saw that happen with popular Tiktoker Mikayla Nogueira, famous Twitch streamers, and other content creators. The Downfall of Entitled Influencers - Losing your Relatability #edvasian

this Mikaela girl really has some audacity. While shes filming herself do makeup with her designer handbags in the background, nurses and doctors still work in understaffed hospitals since the beginning of the pandemic. My mom is a nurse for home health care and she has had less and less sleep and time off since the pandemic and even now. Mikaela needs to go outside “people are dying kim”
hospitals are understaffed even before the pndemic - that's the problem with the industry. and doctors typically earn way more than any influencer considering they have a continuous stream of income that's guaranteed. money from youtube or social media is not guaranteed. how many original youtubers continue to make money from yt or live ther lavish lives? for ex where's the shaytard family nowadays? or gf vs bf? everybody knows doctors earn the most money. can't say the same for nurses though, though they still earn a comfortable living wage. plus nurses tend to work longer hours than doctors and bare more responsibilities.

@3xitthissid3 it really depends on the type of doctor you are tbh ,plus there is a large amount of schooling involved in becoming a doctor too. So I would say being a doctor makes more than being a large influencer. I do agree they have more longevity. Kinda feel like your undermining the work a lot of doctors do (my sister's brain surgeon worked long hours). I do think nurses should be paid and valued more than they currently are though.

my gf is a postal worker who works 12 hour shifts, 6 days a week. she is in so much pain by the end of her shifts that she physically can't walk. also she is literally keeping our society functioning. and yet she never tells anyone her job is "harder" than someone else's, because its a dick move. it's that simple

"Content creation is harder than your 9-5". Imagine being yelled at by random people daily, running around for 9 hours to give people their food before they complain, taking a five minute break to cry in the bathroom, have raw and red hands from washing your hands in nearly boiling water every three minutes, being paid minimum wage and still relying on tips in order to actually eat that day, and having to touch people's dirty and disgusting trash only to get sick frequently because some customers are pigs and can't resist that they're sick so they'll cough up a storm and leave their germs everywhere that you have to touch in order to clean. Imagine working in a mom and pop restaurant. I would 100% rather be an influencer in order to pay the bills.

You forgot to mention the pain in your feet and lega after a long tough day. My normal shifts make me have about 35k steps on a single day. And that's only 8h working and 2h prepping or cleaning
Imagine doing all that on the daily and then an Influencer walks in and makes your day 100000 times harder and more stressful.
I find it really irritating when influencers feel entitled to call their work harder than other jobs. I am not by any means undermining their efforts, they might work hard and get stressed, but they do not have any responsibilities to anyone but themselves. The worries and stresses of actual, regular jobs usually include other people and their well being and I find it insulting that people creating tiktoks feel like their job has any actual impact on real life. I enjoy some creators and their content, but I despise those who are so out of touch of reality.
While I mostly agree with you, especially on saying "this specific job (especially if its about being an influencer) is THE hardest", which I find very disrespectful and arrogant.
Just wanted to note/add that some seemingly "DIY" Influencers/Content Creators are not only responsible for themselves, many have Cutters, Editors or people helping them with filming etc.
But regarding the first person mentioned in the video -> They indeed DO seem to do most of their stuff themselves.
@@xionxiv9293 Yeah that is true, most big influencers do have people that work for them and of course they might have families to support etc. It would have been better worded that influencer’s job usually does not directly and instantly affect somebody’s health and well being, but it might in the long run. :)
ADHD person here, some people actually find it harder to be productive and find motivation to do things without suggestions/guidance/deadlines. Basically we (people w/ ADHD) need external motivation to be able to get stuff done due to executive dysfunction making it extremely hard to do something for our own sake.
Aside from that, I would say that there are few jobs that expose a person to as much vitriol and hate as influencers. It's a reality for any job that relies on public opinion and popularity: politics, musicians, comedians, actors, etc. Thought influencers probably have it easier than a few of those professions (on average. Some influencers work SUPER hard, some politicians are lazy, for example)
@@Alex-fc8xn Absolutely! When I talk about ”hard jobs” I have more literal meaning for the word, as in jobs that might be demanding physically or mentally. But the point is that there should not be this debate about which job is the most demanding in the first place, since people find different things difficult. I find it problematic when someone feels entitled to call themselves more hardworking than others, when they have absolutely no experience in their line of work in the first place.
I'm sure being an influencer or content creator is harder than it looks, but I think there's a way to express that without insinuating that your life is harder than the lives of your viewers who have much less money than you

These influencers are confused. The difference between them and a 9-5 is not hard work, it’s fulfillment. Someone following their creative passion and getting paid for it is in a fulfilling career, while someone working in an Amazon production line is not.

That and the factory like worker usually isn’t getting paid much higher than minimum wage. I’ve had two factory jobs and they were only $4.75 and $8.75 over the minimum wage respectively, the higher paying of the two still wasn’t enough to pay my rent and eat 2 meals a day (I’m lucky if I get one these days) even while donating plasma on the side. Meanwhile that makeup influencer was able to buy a bunch of designer handbags and her own HOUSE. Yeah idc how hard/stressful being an influencer is, it can’t be any worse than worrying about where you’re gonna sleep each night and how you’re gonna feed yourself and your family.
The difference IS hard work. I bet you dimes over dollars that no smuch posh ass zoomer tik tocker would ever be able to handle a 10-12 hour long factory job. They would crumple in the first hour tops. So spare me that first part. It may be more fufilling to sell out and follow your dime a dozen dream, but you get more integrity with a REAL job because in a REAL job you work harder. Full stop.

i get that streaming and content creation can be rough, especially with chronic illness/mental health issues. but imagine having those issues, but you would lose your job for taking a week to rest and get better
Exactly, i worked for 1 year (overtime,on vacation, break time without pay ) and doing two people's job at the moment and i took 2 days off because i had some physical pain and they removed from my wage .... i have no words
And that's how I lost 3 part time jobs, I got sick during, before and after the shifts (one for each job) and got myself in the hospital 2h later because of my health conditions. I spent 2-3 weeks there and by the time I was out, I was also fired
Yeah they can take a half year break for their mEnTaL hEaLtH and they will get nice comments supporting them or donating to their patreon so they will still earn money from that + their previous videos, with said money they can pay for a therapist
A regular 9-5 worker if they get physically sick and need a week break even with a leave permit they get fired and then they get no money to pay for doctors and their boss probably cuss them out theres no nice comments or people "donating" to their patreon

As a nurse working long hours in a short staffed hospital having to hear influencers whine about how their job is so much harder…. Is not exactly making me feel empathetic.
There are far better ways to show how heavy their work load is than using the “You do it for a day and see how you like it!” comment… It’ll just make the people watching turn sour on you.
this. i worked as a mix of a subnurse/assisted living facility caretaker for 1 (one!) summer, I am still picking up the pieces of my mental and physical health, while being technically homeless (living with friends, but that's a not forever deal obviously) because I can't work now. Granted, I was already chronically ill, but that's the only type of job you can get if you are ill... that's a whole horrifying circle. Now, I don't think being a content creator would've been great for my mental health either, but at least when you fuck up - well, you might need a new job if everyone hates you, but prob not. If you fuck up while people are in your care - needing a new job is the least of anyone's problems, you could kill someone. A "bit" different stakes I would say... (not to mention the super long shifts, yes. Which again, a circle of danger: the more tired you are the more stressed you are about being diligent and not hurting anyone).
Yeah im not a nurse or anything but I work an extremely physical job doing lots of lifting and moving around heavy shit. I really don't feel sympathy for someone who posts a few videos and make thousands of dollars while I work my ass of every day and struggle to keep my bills paid.

@@charliedeegan1598 people don’t want to hear about their struggles. Of course they have it. It’s not physical labour but more they can’t feel like they can turn off from their job and always having to think of the next big thing to keep them afloat and dealing with negativity. You could scold me out online and I’d feel upset for the rest of the day. I mentally could not handle the negativity of hundreds/thousands of comments like that. Still it’s not really something they can talk about without being booed for so it’s better they talk with other influencers instead.
So I’m an archeologist who spends 9 to 10 hours a day doing extreme physical labor, walking miles over literal mountains, shoveling into rocks which over time causes injuries, and I’m usually without phone service miles away from a hospital should I hurt myself or have a wild animal encounter. Also, heat exhaustion is a very regular risk as well as heat stroke. Now I love my job and wouldn’t change a thing, but every time I hear an influencer say theirs is harder than most peoples I just think “you wouldn’t survive a day in my job”

I'm a teacher and same. Most people cannot handle 21+ 5 years olds who don't all speak English for 7 hours each even day without the added responsibility of teaching them to read and do basic math, plan lessons, communicate regularly with parents, complete regular professional development, and implement behavior plans or individual education plans (for students with special needs). I love my job too, but it nearly broke me the first 3 years. Influencers have way less stress.
I thought the same thing 💀 I just came back from a month of 8 hours of manual labor under the scorching sun in the middle of nowhere, on top of 5+ hours of lab work daily 😂 you try and do our job for a day and see how it goes
Both are difficult... just in totally different ways. I think most ppl would assume that being an archeologist is easy because they don't DO your job, but the same goes for content creation. Most ppl assume it's an easy, cushy, job... and it's not, just like your job.
This is just a matter of people not understanding how difficult every job is in different aspects.

@@elio_fay which is still harder, by comparison especially fast food workers. A fast food worker for Starbuck or dunkin' who has to work a double shift will start their day at like 4am and won't end it until 8 or 9pm. Just to try and eat a proper meal, shower, get a little enjoyment and do it all over again tomorrow. Even in this economy where no one is working. A lot of service workers are working like crazy for little pay. I think 99% of those workers would gladly work her day. Lol.
@@elio_fay usually "9-5" refers to a regular job in an office, and retail and fast food jobs are often more physically and mentally demanding than those as well. shifts often start some time between 5-7am and if u work at a 24h place you could start or finish shifts in the middle of the night. service workers usually have to be on their feet for 100% of that time (except breaks which are few and far between and strictly monitored by your boss), while also maintaining good service, a cheerful attitude, politeness, manage rude/disruptive customers, and quickly handle issues which tend to arise a few times an hour. AND at the end of the day you get paid less than even an office worker. so yeah if she meant retail and fast food then that's even worse of a comparison lol

But obviously comes with a much greater reward so I wouldn’t say it’s comparable. I wouldn’t say it’s harder than working a 9 to 5 but I think she was mainly frustrated at being undervalued for her efforts, she just seems stressed out tbh. It depends. I get up at 4 am because I go to bed early. I choose to work early, so I can go home early.

My dad worked at a butchers shop, he also had to get up at 4am and start work at 5am. A neighbor works at a baking factory, he had to get up at 1am, now he works somewhere else, also in the baking industry and now he only has to get up at 4am. And when he is working, he has to stand still the entire time
Frlllll I work at a farmers market and I wake up at 5:30 to be there at 7 am. I prefer it, since I can start and finish my workday earlier, but saying you chose to start working early in the day is not a flex since, as an influencer, you A) chose your own hours, and B) are probably wrapping up your work earlier in the day
What I don't understand is people competing to be the hardest worker....and bragging about working and having no free time. That is just a boring life

I think a problem/insecurity many influencers have is their knowledge and guilt over knowing that they are earning way more money than the work they actually put in compared to others, this insecurity turns into a defensive mechanism where they get really salty and try very hard to make their viewers believe that they work way more than an average person or that they don't earn as much as ppl assume.

their job isn't harder than other jobs. it's hard in different ways. like i could not deal with the hate they must get or the constant need to check stats and views, but i would love the freedom to travel whenever and wherever

It’s insane how delusional some influencers are . Some of us working 9-5 jobs earn $30,000 a year some influencers make that in a MONTH. Try paying rent, bills , groceries, credit cards with $950 twice a month . Now that’s hard .
There’s nothing I despise more than influencers (or companies) pretending to “pay” people with exposure, they spend their money on whatever and then pretend others to EAT AND SHELTER with exposure because of course they can afford the most expensive shit but not to pay other human beings for their job.
I think what rubbs me the wrong way is that not only do influencers believe their job is harder and tougher than a regular job, but they also believe that it is more important than the average job.
Like I'm a teacher, I don't think they'd survive a week. Not only do you have to be creative to keep students engage, but you also have all the documentation, grading and other responsibilities that comes with the profession...
The privilege of being paid exorbitantly for putting on makeup when I literally stopped wearing makeup to lessen how much sexual harassment I put up with at my job that barely pays the basic bills. Also I'm physically disabled and still having to work because I don't have the financial ability to take off for the surgeries I need.
Frankly, being an influencer would actually be a job I could physically do and allow me to do more than simply just *survive* ...
Being surrounded by privilege really blinds you off to the real world issues. You work a couple of yours and receive thousands of dollars, most people work just as much or much more and only gets their minimum wage.
My mums a nurse, and works for HOURS. There’s really no way that the girl compared being an influencer to a 9-5 or other hard jobs. They are just not comparable.

Honestly, it's the easier to make money, especially if you are talented. Back then, it would be difficult to promote your skills as an painter, singer, dancer, etc. Social media creates more opportunities for these people.

I definitely preferred working when I graduated. Got paid for the day. The day school ended I was relieved to go work full time finally. Move out on my own. Freedom to do what I wanted.

it’s weird because, some influencers actually start off as nice, genuine people just trying to make a living off of the internet. but then once the follower count starts to grow, and the more money they start to get, to more and more it all gets to their head, and honestly it’s just really sad.

Try nurses and doctors in hospitals that work 14-hour or 10-hour shifts, dealing with not only sick or injured people but people trying to get meds to feed an addiction or drunk people making everyone uncomfortable by being loud and aggressive on weekends. Not a 9:00-17:00 but still a very hard job.
Not only that, but getting injured or attacked by people with little or no defense.
If an addict is going to the hospital to get meds, they are definitely sick too.
in my country, in medical physician training, we have an 8-hour pre-duty shift followed by a full 24-hour shift, continued the next day by a 4-hour post/from-duty shift or 8-hour from-duty if you're a higher level, depending on the school/hospital you're training at ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and patients complain when we're caught taking a brief nap (most times unintentional) on one of the free chairs in the nurses' station on the floor 😅
I understand that being an influencer is not easy but compared to the amount of money they get at the end of the day… it’s an easy job. There are people who have to have 2 to 3 jobs in order to be able to pay their bills while influencer can take off whenever they want, how long they want and so on without having to worry about not being able to pay their rent or bills. So yeah, to me it’s a easy job.

I wouldn't say that makes the job easy. It's just having the job is very lenient and allows you to have a nicer lifestyle with more money and the ability to take more breaks. Not an influencer, but my brother is a tech RUclipsr and it's true that this kind of stuff takes a lot of time and effort - it's a subsitute for a regular full-time job. Being able to healthily manage your time, wellness and relationships is an underrated and important skill in this kind of industry. Instead of being entitled, you need to look at yourself and realise you don't need to be doing all this if you don't enjoy it. It's not that complicated.

For a good 3 years or so, I worked 2 jobs, one full time & one part time. My full time job was as an ece at a daycare in a town about 45 minutes out of the city I live in, so I commuted. Sometimes my day started at about the same time as hers & it would end at about 10 pm on days I worked both jobs. Also had to de with not only kids, but customers at my part time job.
i don't know why all of a sudden it has become a competition to see who has it harder. Why do we have to compare such different experiences? they are different jobs and will have different hardships.
Thissss where I live there is an influencer (and her family) who got lucky and gets to be famous and travel around the world and they also have a family business thanks to their wealthy relatives but that influencer keeps on talking about how they (her family) struggled when she was little when in reality while they may not be as well off then as now but they didn't have to struggle a bit due to the support from their rich relative.

Try being a teacher for a day Mikaela, not everyone can do this job... It's practically the same as an influencer but without the cameras and with 5 contents a day, 25 students talking back at you, daily document of every students learning curve, having 3-5 thankful (and sometimes unthankful) parents standing outside your classroom wanting to talk to you about their Child, calling 1-2 parents each day to tell them about the Childs misbehavior, 2-3 meetings a day with other teachers and at least 1 hour of preparation for the next school day, each day. And did I mention, during all of this, you are still responsible for 25 students, you have to make sure they learn something every lesson, that the have a calming environment and that they don't fight with other kids, and yes, sometimes you have to make the parents understand simple parenting rules. Try that for for a living, I bet you wont survive... I'm sorry, I like influenser and I enjoy their content but they don't have to act like a-holes. Fellow teacher! 👏 I'm responsible for the resources,lesson plans, prep and 'Quality assured' learning of 410 children every week. My day starts at 7:25am, and I get home for 6pm, continue to work at home for a couple of hours. Switch off the laptop at 7pm, stop responding to admin and parents at 8ish. Then enjoy 3 hours before I get to go again. Not to mention, expectations of offering extra curricular clubs, meetings every day, safeguarding constantly and lunch duties, parents evenings, regular visitors coming in and out of your classroom.

As someone who works freelance, I can relate to what the woman was saying. You have to be your own boss and do everything on your own when you start out, usually getting very little in return financially. It has a very high burnout and with the oversaturation of the market in content creation, it's hard to "hit it big" now.
Additionally, in a normal career, you go in every day knowing what you need to do to fulfill your ONE aspect of the overall company. In content creation, on the other hand, you have to:
1) come up with every idea for a video
2) prep and produce every video on your own - from makeup, outfit, lighting, recording, and editing
3) market your content and network for sponsorships
etc.
Does this mean that the jobs are "harder" than normal 9 to 5 jobs? No. They are just harder in a different way. In actuality, most people's jobs are hard and/or stressful in SOME way and other people not in their field can never understand that because they've never tried it.
Thank God for a person with a brain on this video. Literally all of the complaints could be applied to any self employed person. Most of them have a harder job than any employed person. I'm also employed by a company but I recognize the benefits I get by being employed. Most people in comments seem hateful of their job and so they need to have a competition on who has it harder. True...im lucky to have a..pretty stable financial in terms of inheritance, but i used to try to do art commission, in the end, i had to advertise myself, try to reach out for connections, need to set up my own time on posting on social media, trying my hands on webcomic and each pages took almost 10 hours which...would be disastrous if i plan weekly release + had to take care of assignments and uni projects...

Yes, she gets paid bank... AFTER working for years and getting paid nothing. Think of it like going to college for 4 yrs and massively ending up in debt for a high-paying career, you have to invest the time getting paid dirt to become a specialist and then you get paid bank. A locksmith costs $200 for a 5 min job because you're PAYING for a specialist... someone who has invested in that career path.

I dislike when influencers, like that beauty guru, say that oh actually no one would want this job because it's soooo much harder than any 9-5. I can appreciate that content creation jobs can be very challenging, esp. in terms of constant creativity, motivating yourself, audience critiques, etc.
But you can't pretend the perks don't exist - flexible schedule, relatively quick monetary success, relatively low overhead costs, opportunities to work with bigger brands, being your own boss, creative control, etc. There's a reason it's a desirable job and people keep doing it.
And the difference in scale for $ is huge! A nurse, a teacher, a small business owner could be putting in just as many hours and just as much effort as an influencer, but there's no way they are making even a fraction of the amount of even a medium sized influencer.
agreed! at 24, she has luxury items she uses and surrounds her in her videos, while at 24, i was still buried in my books studying to become a physician. when patients are stubborn, entitled, are "Karen's", we as medical doctor trainees could do nothing but say sorry and calm the situation as much as possible. And to get to the "glorified status" of a doctor, we've had already accumulated years of working and training with 24-hour hospital shifts under our belts, trying and failing multiple times to save people's lives as so many factors are out of our control . By then a lot of us would have been in our 40s and 50s, some still dreaming to be able to live out our passions and hobbies freely.
Exactly!!! A person who can afford all that can also afford to take a step back for their health. When I was 24 I got so burnt out that I developed chronic illness, I’ve struggled just to shower and eat 3 meals a day ever since. I’m going to get a shower chair to try and make it easier so I do have that going for me! I might not have much retirement savings but at least I’ll already have a shower chair 😂
Thank you for being a Dr. I’ve had some bad luck with medical staff tbh but the last time I was in hospital my Dr was so helpful and kind, it made such a big difference even though they couldn’t do much to help. I really appreciate everything you do!!!
As someone who actually does content creation (social media management for several large pages (each account is 50k+ across multiple platforms) in a 9-5, these people are so damn full of it. This is the easiest job I’ve ever had. The thing about content creation is that it’s draining. But it’s not hard.

I find influencers get "stressed" when THEY start chasing fame, money, and luxury products.
None of their fans are asking them the work with Marc Jacobs, Givenchy, Gucci, or buy Tesla's, mansions, Jetskis etc.
If you're tired, stressed, worn out then stop doing that.
None of their fanbases are asking for that, they're doing it for themselves, then blaming us as consumers of what they're selling.
A lot of jobs are hard. My job is hard. The key is not to complain about it to the wrong people. For me, that's my boss and my wife. For an influencer, that's... everyone. It's tough perhaps, but who would sympathize? If you make enough money being an influencer to get in trouble for complaining, you also make enough money to have a trained therapist who will indulge you. Spend that money. It's an investment in not getting cancelled.

Love, love, love this channel. I work with kids in a school system in small groups, and so many of them say they want to be youtubers when they grow up. I had a couple kids both say they want to be youtubers in a group one day and one looked at the other and said, "We should do a collaboration then!" That comment was very cute. But it's concerning that about 3/4 of them think they'll be youtubers when they grow up.

I know, I mean, I suppose it similar to how so many millennials wanted to win American Idol and become the newest celebrity singer. But I think it's a little different too, because you could physically see how huge the Idol lines were and how many terrible singers auditioned. And only a few of them actually made any music that people liked after they won. With RUclips, and influencer culture, I don't think we see how much failure there is, just the success. I'm not even sure if people actually watch small content creators who have produced pretty poor videos just to see how to avoid mistakes or improve something about themselves.
In the words of Red Forman, "they call it work because it's WORK. It's not happy, fun, stupid play time!" All jobs are hard, that's why they're called a JOB and not a HOBBY. But, each job has a different level of difficulty. As someone who does work a 9-5, I'd say that's harder than staying at home all day, being able to work around your own schedule without risking being fired, and sitting in front of multiple screens a day.

No way being an influencer could be mentally harder than being a chef, I’m traumatised and I’m only 22 still got a good 30 years of work to go. Just to earn probably half the amount of an influencer but work twice as hard 7-10 6 days a week. It’s mental and physical work not just physical, you have to be just as creative as well

If I were to earn as much as the influencer saying it's so hard.. I'll have to continuously work like 16-17 hours 6 days a week with an engineering degree and experience. Still I'll have a fraction of what they do. And it also involves studying to gain new skills along with work.
As a disabled 24 year old I have a LOT of feelings on Mikayla. At the most basic level, being able bodied enough to be able work hard is a privilege. Being able to work in a creative field is privilege. Making big money from your job is a privilege.

I understand that every job has difficult aspects, but hearing "influencers" complain about how difficult they have it when most of their day is spent at a computer and they have the option to take breaks, eat, or go for a walk irks me a bit after working 10-12 hours in a busy kitchen 5 or 6 days a week.
There's nothing wrong with venting about the hardships of your job, but I don't think complaining to your audience is the way to do it. Talk to friends, or family, or get a therapist.
In my mind at least, telling your audience about how hard it is to be a content creator is like a retail worker just walking up to customers and telling them about all the backdoor drama that goes on.
As a freelance Artist , I absolutely hate it when people want to pay with "exposure " , or if they are related to you then they expect free things and won't support the small business 🤔 it's truly frustrating . Regardless of the art work , it takes hours and alot of effort and supplies and those should be compensated for

My 9-5 is actually about content creation but for museums across the globe. In one day I can work on 12 different projects that are due in a month, while it's also my job to do hire freelancers who do anything from sound mixing to translation. Once everything's done I have to do a quality audit on the product in English and any other language I'm fluent in. Then there are times when I have to be in studio while we record either VO talents or celebrities, go to an exhibition to get inspiration or check up on our client's opinion of the final product in active use. But I've never told anyone their job is easier than mine. We all handle what we can handle.
I can’t feel any sympathy for influencers who claim that their job is so much harder than most jobs out there. I work at a retail drug store and we are always understaffed bc of call offs or people quitting. I work 40 hour work weeks as one of the three managers and I regularly have to deal with entitled people who think our job is to give them everything they want on a silver platter. I can guarantee that my job and many other people’s jobs are much more stressful than being an influencer. Most jobs are integral to society and deserve a lot more respect, most influencers are not in that group.
You nailed the commentary on this video, thank you for making it. There are points where there is comparison between creation of content and jobs and there are points where there is simply no comparison whatsoever. In my experience, content creation for a vast majority of people is merely a hobby, something we do for free. This might be limited to my circle, but hear me out: I'm a writer. Writing is a long process, and it certainly has its difficulties, it certainly takes a long time, there's imposter syndrome, etc, and when I started my job I had to put it aside. Currently, I consider my writing as creating content because I don't publish it formally (I only post it online) and I do it for free, as do a lot of my fellow writers, all of which are adults with a job and/or studying university. We know the difference between content creation and having to work. We can choose to step back and take breaks if we want or need to, and sometimes we do it because our actual job, that which demands our time and energy and responsibility, means we can't create for a while.
Content creation is long and can be tiring, but it's not at all as difficult as an actual job and people have got to stop being tone deaf to try to justify themselves. And the fact that influencers, particularly those who are younger adults and even teens, feel like their work is at the level of a real job just shows an apalling level of immaturity and entitlement that only stems from young age and privilege. It's privilege, at the end of the day.

That guy that wakes up at 2am or whatever, why is there no sunlight in his room? That's so bad, the sun helps your body regulate its circadian rhythm, and tell your brain when to be awake and fell awake. Same concept as SAD. When I was in college we spent many nights in the studio day in and day out working towards deadlines, architecture school is like 5 years of all nighters, and we all graduated with no less than 4 mental illnesses in addition to our diplomas, the ones of us who didn't have to drop out from the stress that is. No one should live like this, I can't sympathize with someone who willingly lives such an unhealthy lifestyle. "Working hard" isn't cool, suffering for attention isn't cool and I hate how hustle culture glorifies and glamorizes ruining your physical and mental health for financial and social gain. It's so wrong.

I’m so glad I have a normal job on a desk behind a computer and all my interaction is through official emails and face to face. It’s really fulfilling and purposeful and I’m so happy my whole career isn’t based on approval from other people or my creativity. Those get to be defined by me when I want to.

I just started my first job, and oh my god I would kill to do this. I'm on my feet, soaking in sweat, getting blisters, and pushing around carts, for 5 hours, with a 15-minute break to eat and finish online tasks. All for 12.50 an hour. If I could wake up whenever, sit on my computer, relax in air conditioning, eat and drink whenever, and take naps/breaks whenever while making enough money to buy luxury bags, I would never ever complain.

I think we are too quick to assume that 9-5 jobs cant be mentally exhausting. Yes being famous and having to watch what you say and what you do in the public eye is mentally draining but so is having to manage a store or a restaurant and sometimes it's hard to "turn your brain off work mode" in those settings too. We also have to remember there are a lot of people who can't "try to be an influencer for a day" because of their networking or people skills so they don't get that option even if they tried. I do agree that once you actually get to become a successful influencer would be a difficult job once you can get popular enough for it to become a full time job but it's also just comparing apples to oranges.

I think there are a lot more jobs that are mentally and physically draining than being a influencer. I work as a nurse, 3 different shifts and often 12-14 days in a row with only 1-2 days off after. I love my job but sometimes I just feel like a zombie. And i don’t believe that influencer know how this feels like.
Thinking of rigs, oil fields, linemen, farmers, truck drivers, delivery people, maintenance, fire, paramedics, construction, manufacturing, food service and so on. Imagine telling them...my job is harder than yours. 😅
One has to experience things to be able to have awareness or basic knowledge like how to act in certain situations, when to keep opinions to oneself etc. politeness is what a lot of people lack and not just the most privileged ones.
