Oh huh, I got here early for once. Gotta say I really love the changes to Kalimari Desert. I always felt it was a little bit boring in previous interations, but them actually making you go onto the tracks and through the tunnel as part of the intended course design is just... chef's kiss.
I'm just so glad they didn't drop the ball on anything major that they could've (ex: not including the main sounds for Waluigi Pinball, not changing the cars back on Coconut Mall). This was a good wave of courses that I'll be enjoying even after future waves come out.
I love Sky High Sundae! The sizes of the racers are scaled pretty small compared to the buildings, it feels like you're a little kid running down and up the stairs, then right by all the sweets shops! And I like how the guardrails, instead of being a hindrance, are used as spin boost pillars instead.
One of the things that made Mario kart 8 unique from all the others was the fact that none of the tracks shared music with eachother.. with this track added to the game this is the first instance in 8 years where 2 tracks share the same exact themes , this and Wario stadium.. just thought that was interesting to point out .. nonetheless im HYPE THIS IS BACK ! NOTHING BUT NOSTALGIA FROM 2005 and 2011!!!
I confess I am not a huge fan of SKy-High Sundae... It's pretty much Excitebike Arena (which I am also not a fan), but with ice physics and you can fall out of the track. It's more visually appealing to me than Excitebike Arena at least.
That Mushroom Gorge race was brutal! It almost made me want those fake item boxes from Wii back. Keyword: almost. On a side note, Sky-High Sundae looks awesome! I'm so glad they didn't forget about anti-grav!

What can I say about Wave 2 of the Booster Course Pass. I love all the tracks. New York Minute was a blast to go through. Especially it's changing with each lap. SNES Mario Circuit 3 was a fun nostalgia trip. Glad they didn't change it at all. N64 Kalamari Desert was a fun blast. Especially since they added Kalamari Desert 2 within changing laps. DS Waluigi Pinball was tons of fun. Sydney Sprint was amazing. Love the music and well the race in general. GBA Snow Land. Tons of fun. Simple yet love how they designed it.Wii Mushroom Gorge. Again Nostalgic fun and wonderful music. Finally Sky High Sundae. Tons of fun, love the ice cream theme course and now I'm hungry. Wave 1 I give a 10 out of 10. Wave 2 I also give a 10/10.
Sydney Sprint is the best City track so far in the booster course pass. In TOUR, Berlin Byways and Vancouver Velocity were even better so can’t wait to see them in this DLC!!
I would always want to drive on the train track in Kalimari Desert, and now it's an element of the course! I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought of that lol.
I’m kind of sad that they teased us with sounds from waluigi pinball in the course intro cutscene, but they don’t actually play in the correct places during an actual race. In all previous versions, a cool sound effect would play every time you drove under the slot machine, and while you can hear that sound effect play twice during the intro cutscene, it never actually plays during a race…
@@JohnTK even more interestingly: when the track first appeared in tour it didn't have that sound, it only got added in a few months later i think? (maybe it originally didn't play due to a bug) it'd be pretty funny if it went the exact same way here

New York minute makes some kind of geographic sense, at least until lap 3 and then it stop making sense. leaving rockafeller center's apparent relocation aside, if we were to take the rest of it as a general representation of Manhattan, Nintendo's NYC store would be on the street just past the finish line.
something i want to point out is that the theme to sydney sprint sounds very similar to the theme of show made in the mid 90s called eyewitness. this show was produced by BBC and DK Vision. it discussed things like animals, habitats, history, and other interesting stuff. and at the last section of the sydney sprint theme, it sounds like the eyewitness theme song. if anyone knows what i'm talking about and agrees with me, feel free to comment
This makes me wonder: are the only ones marked from Tour the “Real Life” locations? If so, that would explain why Ninja Hideaway is marked as just a new track, same as the new ice cream one.
I’m biggest fan to Mario Kart but I really love Waluigi Pinball DS, SNES Mario Circuit 3, Sydney Spirit, GBA Snow Land and Tour New York Minute In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
I love all of the new tracks but my only complaint is that on Sydney Sprint, around the 13:50 mark, the characters in the stands are flat textures instead of 3D models. I get that these are used to save up on data and normally I wouldn't care but it's just a bit weird with all of the characters so close to the track. It's really noticable to me.
@@Mr_Pxtty totally -I think it’s just jarring with how close you are to them, versus them being far away and facing towards you for the most part. Here they kinda look like a bunch of paper Mario characters 😆
The release time for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's Wave 2 DLC has now been confirmed by Nintendo. The company announced last week that Wave 2 of the Booster Course Pass would arrive on August 4, but didn't reveal what time it would go live. Now it has confirmed that Wave 2 will go live today at 10am EDT / 3pm BST.
These new track look much better than the first bunch, I feel like the first tracks were heavily rush and were missing some textures. Nice to see they took a lil more time to do these new tracks
Waluigi Pinball and Mario Circuit 3 were the highlights for me Snowland and the Tour tracks were pretty good too even if they got rid of that corner shortcut in Snowland
i sorta like waluigi pinball it was not bad at all they need changes with lap directions , i am giving it 6/10 mushrooms, Now Sky High Sundae that is also good course u cant see where u are landing , i'm also giving that 6/10 mushrooms
they should just add every wii course because at the end of the day those where the most played courses in mario-kart history. Only few remember or recognize the og gamecube and ds courses.

At least Toad Circuit had the decency to make the stage somewhat visually appealing; Mario Circuit 3 is the blandest and most boring stage in Mario Kart 8 period. this was such a wasted space.

@@gamingforalaugh77 I think what makes Sky High Sundae work in spite of its simple layout is the anti-grav. The use of angles makes it feel much more dynamic and exciting than it otherwise would. Definitely not my favorite track in wave 2, but not my least favorite either. I'm just happy we've gotten a new track with anti-grav again.
Loving all tracks, but ice cream Sundays is just meh. Also getting a bit fed up with the tour stages, feels almost like an ad for a mobile game. That being said I'm havi g fun with them.
I don't think the city courses are a way to advertise Mario Kart Tour. They're rarely in the course rotation, and sometimes take more than a year to return.
sky high sundae is imo my least fav track out of wave 2. u can literally go through the railings, too short and the camera is ass the other tracks are great tho especially waluigi pinball, new york minute & mushroom gorge

What I like about booster course pass is that you can race tour tracks anytime, anywhere, any day.
Especially New York Minute, that track only comes back during anniversary events, and the first variant hasn't been seen since Tour's launch.

Interestingly, the sound effect DOES play on Mario kart tour’s version. It’s just the dlc version that is missing the effect.
I'm at least happy they kept the other sound effects, such as item boxes, crossing over the line for each lap, being boosted into the tunnel, etc.
I’m pretty sure there will be a patch where they will fix that.

My only complaint that the levels feel kinda lifeless, with very few toads and stuff in the background

Indeed. They're obviously still cutting corners with these DLC tracks compared to the main MK8D courses... which is keeping me from buying them. For those who think these DLC look good now, *can you imagine how much better they'd look if they were the same quality as the MK8D tracks?*
@@hutt1936 The giant NPCs are on almost every single course in the entire game. It's not specific to the city courses.
Sky High Sundae has to be the worst track of all time. Wanted it to end by the 3rd lap. It’s just constant jump after jump.
