- This video includes the new 88 to 94 LMC Truck dash being installed into my 1992 OBS Chevy Silverado truck with the help of my wife and daughter. Nothing in this video is sponsored. I selected my parts and supplies based on past use or testing, I use what works for me. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
A big help and my new favorite tool is the 12v Enertwist cordless electric ratchet shown in this video. It cut the time dramatically for both the truck dash removal and install. I highly recommend getting one or one like it. The item is still on the first charge of the first battery after using for a couple hours then sitting on my table for a few weeks between videos.

im glad more and more people are uploading the work they do on their trucks, inspires me to keep trying to work on mine,
Get on it! :)
Nothing makes you feel better then playing with your car or truck.
I've enjoyed these videos on the dash removal and installation. Well done.
Thank you 👍
Very nice man so I have a long way to go with my 91 c 1500 but you give me a lot of interest in my project I have a very straight truck and rust free to start with but it has seen owners that just didn't take care like I would have lot of work and money that's OK every time I do a little up grade here and there makes me feel good thanks for the video keep them coming I enjoy watching
Enjoy the journey👍
Great video and your truck looks great! Every "cool car" I build my wife and daughter want to take it over too! LOL. Our 1994 Suburban is the family "favorite" and will never be sold. My daughter will eventually inherit it...she is grown and wants it now!
Thanks 😁 i too would not have it any other way. Takes a few extra minutes but worth every second. My son asks me to drive him to school with the doors off while its half painted, um no. 🤣 He will probly be driving one of these in a couple years thats a scary thought.
Awesome! Can’t wait to see it all put together with the door panels and steering wheel.
Thanks! You and me both! The wheel is a grant removable. I do have new steering wheel comming in just forgot to mention it. Black and billet like the rest.
Your video inspired me to do my dashboard. Thank You!
Enjoy the process 👍
Awesome job! My new LMC dash arrived today and looking forward to installing it. I bought the truck new when my daughter was about your daughter's age.
Someday she will inherit it :)
Thanks for sharing your build.
Thank you, same plans for my trucks. My son will be able to drive in a couple years. No better way to spend time then hanging with the family and playing with some trucks.
100 years from now when we're all dead and these particular trucks will probably still be around people restoring them driving them
For sure, as long as there is gas these trucks will be on the road and enjoyed. 👍
@@thisoldhooptie they'll probably find a way to convert it to all electric probably fitting a big battery pack underneath the bed
@@deanfarr3249 your probly right by the time I'm really old or dead it won't cost like 50 grand to convert them.
Had Missed this Episode.. Now makes sense why there were Painted Dash Pieces....
great video…great family👍
Thank you 😁
New subscriber here i am working on my 1996 chevy 1500 its so much fun to have a project truck
Best therapy ever in my opinion. Helps after a rough day and a great way to spend time with the kids. Love it!
@@thisoldhooptie do you upload videos on tik tok bro?
I have thought about it, just don't have a strategy yet. May just do finish quick video with my cell. I didnt see a way to use my gopro/dslr footage. Any ideas and info on it is welcome. I do upload weekly updates on Instagram. My instagram info is in the details of every video and about page of the channel.
Thanks for the video, very informational. Nice truck!
Thank you!
Sweet, Looks great. I’m Looking forward to buying a new dash from LMC also, instead of buying a 20+ year old dash that’ll just end up cracking next summer (;
Thank you. That was my feeling too. However if I was to get a used one in the future I would fiberglass, then paint and Clearcoat it. Should be like a boat at that point :)
Very helpful videos and detailed 👌🏾
Thank you 👍
I just subscribed to your channel...I have a 1991 ck 1500. I have the gray interior and want to swap out the Grey for black. I'm getting alot of info from your videos. Can you suggest any other videos on a removal and instal of the dash. I plan on just painting it black and putting it back in.
Welcome. Have a look in my truck playlist its all in there. The easiest way if yours is not broken and just coming out to paint then replace, follow my removal guide and add disconnecting the wire harness from the cab bulk heads. Then remove, paint, and connect in reverse. I show everything except the removal of the wire harness. I left mine in so I could drive it for a a while without the dash. Mine was broken in many places. Also have the dash painting tips in my truck playlist. The only thing I woukd change if its in the budget is use 2 part clear over what ever you paint. You can get it in the can if you don't have a gun. The 1 part stays soft for a really long time. Good luck and reach out if you need any info. 👍
New subscriber, I'm doing very similar work to my 94 sierra. The 92-94 LMC dash is out of stock, but they have the 88-92 dash. What is the difference? Looks the same to me and I really need a dash! Glad I've discovered your channel. Thanks for sharing.
The 88 to 91 dash is slightly different. The only big one is the way the gauge cable/plug mounts up. Its not the same on the older dash. If you cut out that small section from another dash and epoxied it you would probly be fine. Search for a video by rockerpat another youtuber who just did what you are asking about. Ill grab his link and post back here.
Ok found it. He showes the difference up close

@@thisoldhooptieawsome, watching it now. ,
Back in stock this week. I ordered on Sunday and it came today.
Nice, good luck on the install!
i didnt realize how important having a wife is till i tried installing my dash lol
They are very versatile. 🤣
@@thisoldhooptie lol and thanks i got my dash in and it looks great just painted seats today next in headliner
@@dkennedy9885Nice! 👍
Hey do all these LMC dashes make the speaker grille pop up on the passenger side speaker grille? all the pics I see installed the dash seems to do that not sure if its just a manufacturing issue or maybe someone used LMC speaker grills and they sit higher.
The grills are fine. For me it was the dash. The way the ac vent behind the dash on that side sat it was 1/2 inch higher. Once you know what the issue issue its a pretty easy fix.
@@thisoldhooptie Ya your grilles seem to sit lower someone else I saw on the internet had one and the grilles sat really high in the back. I would assume the dash is made offshore somewhere right? :D I might get one 540 shipped with our new Internet sales tax in FL :( Have to paint it burgundy.
I feel you, taxed to death. And pretty much everything is made offshore these days. Mine sits right because I heated up the air vent and depressed it about 1/2 inch so the speaker can drop lower. I still need to do that one more time its a fraction high on the left. Pretty easy to fix with heat and a big socket or anything shaped like the speaker magnet.
@@thisoldhooptie Ahhh.. I see. The air vent you mention, is that black plastic piece that goes to the defrosters? Yea. Well.. Everyone gets charged a internet tax now FL held out for awhile. Blame Wayfair they started the whole case. I think I have some Pioneer speakers in the front of mine I had to rig washers around the brackets to get them to fit right under the grilles
@@GhettoWagon yes sorry I typed vent and meant duct.
How did you get the fuse box to snap back in? I really appreciate the video because of you I was actually able to replace the dash in my dad's truck which he left me when he passed.
Very cool, glad to help. Mine just snapped in and out aside from any bolts. Click my instagram link in the about or description and shoot me a couple pics on Instagram ill try and help you get it sorted. 👍
@@thisoldhooptie thank you
Hey I got it! There's no information on how to go about snapping that into the dash it's is a little tricky. especially when it's 90° outside.lol thanks again
Excellent! Have a great weekend :)
How did u get the Gauge cluster wire back through the dash I have a 93 Chevrolet 3500 Dedham replacing the dash off and I can’t get the wire to go back through the hole
Turn it sideways pop one end through then should be able to lock back in place. Easier to do with one hand behind and the dash tilted forward.
badass 💯
Thx bro!
Where did u get the dashboard Billet pieces? Looks really good
Thank you. Ebay, Amazon, and Google. Search for billet c1500 and billet obs chevy in eBay stuff pops up weekly. Also If you check the comments on my door panel video there are a bunch of links listed.
“Piece of crap”?? I love that truck! GMT400s 4 evah!
Sarcasm brother. ;)
This is my favorite vehicle too. I have had 10 of them over the last 25 years. I am referring to its current state. Thanks for watching 👍
Hi, I was wondering how did your cup holder fit? We have a 1993 c1500. The dash was replaced today and there was no room for the cup holder.
Mine fit right back in the place I took it off the original. Did you get the lmc truck dash installed?
How did you fit those speakers in the dash ? I’m looking to upgrade the 4x6 that are in mine , thanks!
I used the stock size in the dash and the back panels. By installing a better aftermarket version speaker with an aftermarket radio, they have great sound. You can also add a 4 channel amp for more power if that's your thing. I added an amp and 2 tens behind the seats. With the sound deadening all that I needed was more bass.
Where you getting these billet pieces, that shit looks SICK🔥 I got a 97 Silverado I came across, work truck but I'm trying to VIBE it out!! ❤🙏🤘
Thank you. 👍Best bet these days is Ebay, search for billet dash c1500 or billet chevy silverado see what pops up. Amazon may have a couple pieces too. Some are harder to find then others like the lower passenger side big piece.
@@thisoldhooptie Thanks bro ima check it out🙏🤘❤
Have you seen the pick up Justin is doing next?
Yup looks like another fast truck with big money thrown at it, even the base truck. I would like to see some interior or exteriror/paint mods along with all the boltons. I dont think I could do that to a clean 454 but thats just me. His money his truck. Im sure It will come out nice.
@@thisoldhooptie True, at least when Justin builds a all ready nice truck he spends the money on it to do it right and cuts no corners. I don't know doing interior or exteriror/paint mods on trucks that nice, I'm a plain jane / sleeper look person myself.
Totally agree. I also like the one off stuff though. Im waiting on someone to blow a huge wad of cash on the OBS TMI interior. They have some really nice seats and door panels. They don't look as comfy as the seats you and I got though.
@@thisoldhooptie TMI stuff look nice, I think its way over priced for vinyl. I had leather seats done (front, rear and center consul) for my 2016 Colorado by LS in Oklahoma for $750 shipped. I wanted them to do 93, but they didn't want to.
Where did you get those metal plates that go on the dash
Search Google, Amazon, eBay, letgo, and Craigslist, for billet dash or billet dash parts chevy truck or c1500. Ebay probly has the most.
i took dash out and the dash frame for support seems to come with it
any clue to if i can put it back or i need to figure a way to get another one?
Are you talking about the metal from around the steering column? If it unscrew you can screw it to the new one. The lmc dash has all the dash bits needed except what you pull off the old one to re build it.
@@thisoldhooptie yea its the metal frame by the column and also the long metal one that goes under the glovebox
@@dkennedy9885 anything that comes off the old one bolts right up to the new one. My removal was step by step should all be in that video. The install is the exact reversal of the removal. 👍
@@thisoldhooptie thanks for ya time
i gotta take the rivets off thats where im at with it rn
thanks bro
@D Kennedy no problem, good luck 👍
How did you install the glove box light switch
The cover you see on the front un clips from the back side then you can remove and replace it. There is one wire plug in the back too. You need to remove the 4 screws for the inner glove box plastic cover to get to back side.
What is the size of the bolt for the pivot stud? LMC didn’t send them with the dash
It's not a standard bolt. Your best bet is to hit a junk yard and pull a pair. The lmc truck dash re uses all your old dash bolts and components.
@@thisoldhooptie yes you are correct. What i meant to ask what is the size nut LMC supplied for the pivot stud to help align dash. Thanks
@@GH-ur3zx 👍those are 13 mm
@@thisoldhooptie thank you very much
What brand is the quick release?
The original grant removable steering wheel kit.
