    So, how did you get the transmission to shift without having a way of knowing what PRNDL position the shifter is in? Wont it be stuck in 2nd gear without knowing what gear its in electronically?

    • @thisoldhooptie
      @thisoldhooptie Месяц назад

      As long as you start in park, when installing a new switch like I did on the side of the 4l60 the switch is in park too. Then each gear is picked up by the switch as you pull back the shifter. 👍

      @@thisoldhooptie That cant be the case because the other connector you didnt add is the range switch section. I know because right now Im doing a 4l80e swap and Found out this transmission wont do anything cept reverse and 2nd gear default without the range feed connector wired up.

      @@thisoldhooptie if you dont have the range switch, At the very least you have to wire a on/off switch on the dash to turn on for D4 when you shift into Drive on the column. To be fair I could be running into some confusion because Im using a 2000 3500 van computer and cant for the life of me figure out where to supply a tach signal to from the HEI old school distributor (one of the wires for the cam or crank sensor, no idea because no information out there). Im finding the sloppy or flat out wrong information put out there by people to be pointless. I dont understand why some put out fake or incomplete information.

      I'm not a mechanic, I can only give you my experience with this truck as it was my first ls swap. When I had the original wire harness, which did have all the transmission plugs, every thing worked fine when I drove it around the block after fixing wire issues. Then I swapped to a cheap Amazon ls swap harness, which only had the one plug for the switch, and that drove fine, swapping the gears as I test drove it. I would have noticed if it was stuck in 2nd gear. I have since pulled it apart to fix the body issues. The engine and trans are out right now. What I can do is go over it when I put it all back together later this year. I followed info from this site to deal with wire issues when I was stuck. Definitely easist yo use the common swap parts and wires if possible. 👍 www.lt1swap.com/

    If you were to buy this sectional again would you spend the extra $$$ for the deep seat? I have been looking at this for my home but I want to get the deep seating but spending the extra $$$ for it is a hard pill to swallow. And I can find the standard seat sectional on FB marketplace for ALOT cheaper then buying direct. Do you think it's worth dropping that amount of money compared to buying the used standard seat off of FB? (there is around a $1500 - 2k diffence between buying used vs new from Home reserve)

    • @thisoldhooptie
      @thisoldhooptie Месяц назад

      Yes, I would buy it again. It is very easy to pull apart and clean when the kids spill things on it. Also, the warranty is solid when a piece broke last year. The part was shipped fast, and the repair took a few minutes diy. As for the deep choice, yes, I would take the deeper one if you and whoever uses it are tall. When putting our feet up on the ottomans for movies, it would be nice for the seat to be deeper. It would also be nice to be able to put throw pillows down with more space.

    Great job, ill be doing this to my 05 silverado crew cab. What grits did you use before painting? I cant get a clear answer, I hear sand up to 300 but also read that 600 will give you a better finish with no scratches showing through. But I wonder if 600 will cause less adhesion. Thank you

    • @thisoldhooptie
      @thisoldhooptie Месяц назад

      Thank you. I went up to 320 or 400 with the black. It's in the prep. If you get things smooth, it will look great. It also depends on what you're painting with. If you're using rattle cans, you may want a finer grit so the paint can easily hide the sanding marks. As long as you use thin enough coats and the prep is right, it will stick with 600, too. I just didn't feel the need, and it came out fine, in my opinion. Good luck with your project 👍

    all I can think since seeing a few more videos of this brand is if you have cats or even younger children they're going to push some pillows sneak down into that chamber in the backrest. We have a pretty big family that has used and abused the couch for a while now. It is nice to be able to lift the bottom cushion and the panel under it to get things the little ones have dropped. I would estimate that maybe 3 times things have passed the cushions. Coins, a comb, and little toys. The pillows are thick and hold shape. The remote doesn't fit in the gaps, cell phones do not either. Not much has squeezed past. The ottomans that are full of stuff are heavy and don't slide forward. The empty one slides all the time, and phones slip between the couch and that ottoman.

      @@thisoldhooptie that would be awesome. The color I'm going to be using doesn't seem to come in quarts. It would be worth it to buy one of the turbo cans just to get the better nozzle. From off the grid in Az.

      Another good option is to decanter the spray can with the color you like. You poke a hole or shoot it out a straw into a container until you have enough to spray from your gun. That's going to give the best finish. That also takes the most work. Either way should turn out sweet 😁

      Thank you 👍 I will definitely do that. I ended up going back to black for a bit due to not being able to match the panels. I'm about to start a rustolium playlist. Stay tuned. This group of videos will answer all the questions. As for your questions, no, the clear was crystal clear, even better when cut and buffed out. The only clear that I have used that went on cloudy and then cleared was the 1k stuff on the dash. I'm not happy with the 1k. It's not as hard and shinny as the 2k. It's clear and looks great as cam be seen in many of my videos. I just prefer the 2k for all its benefits. The black other then being dirty has held up great so far. The dash has too. I'm also a big fan of the rustoleum paint jobs 😁

      The plastics and dash and back carpet still look great today. The floor needed a touch-up under the peddle area from sneakers scuffing the area up over time. The smell went away fast for me, a few days. I got rid of the seats and got new ones shortly after this video. I can't say how long the bench seat lasted. If i did things again. I would still do all the plastics, dash, and the back carpet. I would order a new floor carpet and get a black seat cover. Good luck 👍

    A couple of questions: 1. Can you change the color fabric on your couch or switch out the color depending on, let's say, if you just want a change or for the holidays? (I LOVE the red you have on it for Christmas 🎄❤️). 2. Can you take the fabric off the entire couch to wash or just the fabric on the cushions? 3. Did you have to purchase a warranty to be able to replace the part of your couch that broke? BTW, how did the arm of your couch break? (Asking if the furniture is durable). 4. What is the return policy if the brand is not a good fit for you? I like your video and the information you provided. Thank you! I'm considering getting this brand.

    • @thisoldhooptie
      @thisoldhooptie 3 месяца назад

      Thank you 😁 1. Yes 2. Yes, all can be removed and washed. I have little ones that spill over all the time. :) 3. The issue I had was fixed in production they sent me both end tops, so the other side was stronger, too. My 180-pound nephew sat on the top, and it cracked. He has sat on the new tops, which have held up since. The warranty comes with it free. Other then the size that was a big factor in my purchase. We have broke a few couches from the kids jumping on them. I wanted to be able to fix them at home instead of paying a fortune sending it out or getting expensive warranties from local stores. 4. The return policy should be somewhere on the website link is in my description of the videos for this couch. I highly recommend getting one chair piece to test prior to buying. I know that is returnable. That's what I did to be sure it would work for us. It's not a deep couch but was perfect size wise where others were not. It has held up well. Other then the top issue which new versions do not have, it's held up great.
