In this video I show where I am with the OBS Chevy truck my 1992 Silverado. I play with more Rustoleum black and go over the future plans for the truck. Full details in the video. Thanks for tuning in!

The Rustoleum was mixed 4 parts paint / 2 parts acetone / 2oz Majic catalyst. The pieces came out great.
If you plan on doing something similar, test something small first to learn your recoat and dry times for the products you choose. Your local temp and humidity will effect your project. :)

Helps to spray water on the floor before you spray. You'll see less scrap in the paint when painting in the garage.

I painted my OBS with Rust oleum Black mixed with Aluminum and it came out great. I added a 2k clear over top of it for protection. I am doing my S10 now but I am using a 2K primer sealer as the base with a pearl mid coat and clear on top of it.
Your s10 is going to look sweet! I love the aluminum too it has the metallic in it. This will all be cleared later. For now I'm just getting everything all one color.
@@thisoldhooptie niiice!! How long are you going to wait to shoot the panels with the speedokote clear? Do you have to sand the black a tad for the clear to adhere??
@@krisjenkins4040 thanks 👍ill be re doing the whole truck with purple flake then clearcoat eventually. Yes you need to scuff the paint so the clear can bond to the base coat.

@@thisoldhooptie with the rustoleum oip base and hardener, if you applied the last base coat and then go right into the clear coat 15-30 after the base, I'm not sure if the clear coat would chemically react with the base
I started using Tremclad many years ago to paint vehicles, boats, snowmobiles, etc. Works great if done right. Great video.

Great video! I was wondering on your fluid control on the gun how many turns are you in? Are you wide open. How many turns if partially open? I have the q5 still learning with this machine on getting the fluid output just right. Thank you!
The way I setup is all the way in, then i back out the knob until I see the amount of fluid I like on the cardboard scrap prior to shooting the panel. I have never counted the turns. Some rustoleum colors and mixes are thicker then others so it varies, same for clears. Ill count the turns when I shoot the truck bed and note it in the video. 👍

What psi did you use on the gun
I dont have a psi readout, its a turbine hvlp sprayer which is around 9 psi. Basic air adjust knob on the whip which i had wide open. The gun has pattern on the side and flow knob on back.

@@jamesjohnson9327 i use 1.4 for the rustoleum, 1.0 when using clear, and when using 0.008 flake 2.0.
What did it take to convert your paint gun to the 3m system?
Changing the adaptor for the cup. The new cup 22 or 13 oz and the same size liners with caps. I think the links are in the purple flake video descriptions. If not I will post them here in a bit.
I have added all needed 3m pps 2.0 parts to the description of this video. You will also need extra cup hose and check valves over time, those are now in there too. That's exactly what I purchased and used on the mini mite platinum turbine sprayer I use.
