- Vampires and werewolves are big business in mainstream media, with a veritable feast of TV shows and movies being dedicated to mythical creatures across the decades. So when something comes along that slots straight into the mainstream zeitgeist with its gothic visuals and sexy vampires fighting pesky swearwolves, you know what’s coming next. Yup, sequels and prequels! As mentioned in our previous episode that sunk its teeth into the fun but flawed Underworld from 2003, director Len Wiseman found love with his leading lady, Kate Beckinsale. And, if you’re being massively cynical, you could perhaps suggest that their star-struck Hollywood romance is one of the main reasons a follow-up to the first movie was green-lit. Or maybe it was the decent box office, cool world-building, or maybe even the lashings of S&M-clad characters?

I don't care what anybody says, the first two Underworld films are good movies. They aren't high art by any means, and I would never dare make that claim. But they're enjoyable and fun, with pretty cool world building and lore.
The pre-quell wasn't bad either, in fact I thought it was just as great as the first 2.
Ugh. I love the Underworld movies, but when they got rid of Michael, I was upset.

Went downhill from there!! Plus, Michael never really "lived" up to his potential as a hybrid.
Sure, the franchise wasn't perfect to begin with but it was a solid story and entertaining. But with most of the OG characters dead it was only Selene left. And honestly, I mean she's cool and all but I needed more than just her character to follow.

That’s my only complaint. They built up Micheal to be something special in the first one and then never did anything with him.
Same. There was soo much potential in this franchise only for them to get dangerously close to reaching it in this movie and then do everything they could to take every step backwards immediately following this installment. I also lost interest as soon as we lost Michael. He was my favorite character BECAUSE he started out as a regular weak human. I wanted to see what his ultimate potential actually was! And they just said uhhh woopsie 🤷♂️ we forgot about him

Underworld Evolution is probably my favorite of the films. I love the first 3 flicks but Tony Curran as Marcus is superb casting. Derek Jacoby too. So many wonderful talents.
And it's still better than any Resident Evil Movie!

I loved the first 3 underworld film they were fun and full of some interesting stories and world building but the last 2 went in a direction that ruined the franchise.
I Have This Movie And The First Installment on a Dual DVD Pack I Love Underworld.

1 was ok, 2 was amazing, 3 was balls and Kate is incredibly gorgeous and intelligent
I love Underworld (2003). It was something new, fresh, unique, inventive, stylish, cool, edgy, hip, and updated such as they took the whole " Romeo and Juliet" concept and theme to a another level as it was absolutely and positivity constructed perfectly from the very beginning to the end. The story, performance's, action sequences, direction, music, special effects, and cinematography was outstanding and incredible. Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman did a phenomenal and spectacular job portraying Selene and Micheal Corvin as they both put tons of emotion and depth into their roles. It was decent. To this day the ending still gives me chills and goosebumps 😰😱 and I still watch it and I consider it a classic. It never gets old.😍😎💯👍
Had a job in a store that sold TVs, amongst other things, around the time this hit home video. This movie & ultraviolet were constantly on TVs in the background to show off the depth of blacks & range of colors certain TVs offered, respectively.
Underworld is my favorite movies series. I still watch them all the time. I keep watching rise of the lycan quite a bit lol
Warts and all I love the Underworld movies I have the DVD's of all of them.
Its Corvenus and I love this film as well as 1st but I think Rise of the lycans is the best 😊🐾💜👍
I remember seeing the trailer for the first film and loving everything about it. The first film had an excellent premise and a great deal of potential, but the execution was deeply flawed. It only got worse from there. It never became as bad as the Resident Evil films, but it almost got there.
First 2 underworld movies are teflon in my book. I loved the world building they did, even with the Lucian prequel. We not gon talk about the last two movies lol

was it as good as the first one? No. But i still liked it. I'll watch anything set in the Underworld universe.
To answer one of your questions. Alexander Corvinus, was a regular human. The plague (or something similar) hit his village and killed everyone but him. Somehow, the virus mutated his dna and made him immortal.
I dont remember if Alexander was immortal, then had his 3 sons. Or if the virus made them immortal, as well. Though I think its the former.
Anyway. The reason Alexander doesnt mutate is because he wasnt bitten by bat or wolf. Those animals venom (i guess) mutated the "immortality gene" in Markus and William, turning them into the creatures they are.
I assume, had Alexander been bitten by one of these animals, then he would have turned into a vampire or werewolf.
To be honest, I thought this was fairly well known information. I'm beginning to think the narrator didn't really watch the movie because this was well explained in the movie! Lol Alexander wasn't bitten by anything as opposed to his sons. And Marcus was a hybrid after drinking the Lycan doctor's blood that dripped in the first movie. People just aren't paying attention and then make foolish complaints.
Enjoy the first 2 movies for what they are (convoluted fun), cause it only goes downhill from here on out.

I enjoy watching the entire franchise. First two are hard to top but they do a good job building the world/characters up. Don't know why they replaced Micheal. He deserved better than that. 😔
Big fan of the series. Caught the first two in theaters as a high schooler. Was ALL in! Have all current entries on digital d.load. tho I personally feel after they wrote Michael out of the story while adding super powers to Selene.. kinda lost it's way!

I thought underworld evolution was an OK film not perfect. I felt like Michael got sidelined in the second movie because after the end of the first one, they promised us they would be focusing on him Celine and their future child but they didn’t focus on the daughter until the third Movie. But then before that they did a prequel, focusing on what we saw in flashbacks in underworld.
Honestly, I enjoyed it more than the first.
Next stop...

11:28 Speedman had zero chemistry with Beckinsale. William was a joke. Marcus was best character in the movie. Agree, action was entertaining.

When you cannot understand 4/5ths of what someone speaking the English language, what part of the UK are they from? My dad was watching Peaky diggers (or something like that) on RUclips.
I really enjoyed the first 2. But the 3rd being a prequel was bit meh and then Scott Speedman not returning after that was a bummer.

If you are going to spend the 1st third of the video rehashing the jokes/script from the previous video, maybe don't constantly reference that video as well.
William and Marcus were bit by a wolf and a bat, maybe their father was bit by an old man.

It was a pretty decent sequel and expanded the story. Wasn't boring mostly made sense and the lore worked out better then some of the other franchise we get today. None of these movies are great but after Evolution it really took a dive
I think this movie is known more for its sex scene than anything else.
