Yo Dash long comment ahead... Van name Vanna White. The thumping in the rear maybe a tire with a flat spot. Simple and cheap test is to rotate tires. Cheap testing can be done by taking van to auto store and having them connect up ODB reader to see what codes are present in system. They could also test battery. Usually there is no charge for these services at the big auto part chains. When I buy a used vehicle I change all Fluids and Filters. Replace belts, hoses, and tires including spare based on the age of vehicle. I am sure you are aware you can contact most auto manufacturers Customer Service departments giving them your VIN and they can provide you the as built specs on the vehicle. Lastly if the "diesel" noise gets too much you can install sound proffing mats on the floor and firewall. Look forward to your journey with the vehicle or I should say Vanna White.
Long Reply Ahead - Vanna White LOL... I'll add it to the short list. So far you have been the closest to the actual problem. It was a wobbly wheel. I actually just got back from a junk yard and got a new one. I have a code reader and have checked and cleared the few codes that were showing. I found out it was an E-350 by searching the VIN, and have already looked up and the specs just don't know which rear end is in it just yet since it showed it could be one of 2 or 3 possibilities. The difference being about 500lbs in towing capacity. The first order of business is to change all the fluids, the serpentine belt had to be changed to pass inspection so that will be done before I bring it back home. LOL, the diesel "noise" Nah it doesn't bother me one bit, if anything I'll be making it louder... Much to my wife's dismay. I too look forward to the journey, I am hoping the van will provide content for my channel that will supplement cooking / BBQ related videos.
Getting the factory build sheet will tell what rear end is installed. It will also let you know if it had the Tow Package installed (extra coolers, etc.). It really does have a lot of good info on it.
Congrats on the van. If this video had no picture, you could have convinced me you were driving a school bus. Since your car is the mistress, name the van Large Marge.
My concern is that it might be a universal joint, be careful, they can break and then you've got a driveshaft laying on the ground. They can be a pretty serious pain in the butt to replace too. I would crawl up under the van and try shaking the driveshaft at the universal joints, if they can be shaken that's a problem. It needs to be a female name, it's required for all vehicles.
If you love it that's all that really matters and yes if a vehicle can serve multiple purposes that's always great. As far as a name..big white obstruction call her Rosie ie Rosie O'Donnell or Roseanne lol
Nice Ride man.. I got a name.. Since you're a Eagles Fan "Reggie" as in Reggie White.. You know cause the van is White and Reggie was a big ole Diesel himself.. Lmao.. I don't know man just a thought.. But really, perfect idea..
I would be looking at the tires, wheels and brakes first. Vince. Keep on smoking.
Ding, ding, ding... I'll talk about it in a future Van Video
