Ten Hag's philosophy is actually very simple. He wants vertical football. He wants his players to create a lot of chances from every counter press they made. He wants players to attack from the back as quick as possible. We saw this last season when we have lots of shots but we lack the cutting edge and finishing. Our defence wasn't the most stable and balance last season. We missed the partnership of Licha and Varane. They would have made transition football smooth upon receiving the ball from Onana. The DM in Ten Hag's philosophy is assigned to only do the dirty jobs (tackling and pressing), not pass from the back. He floods the attack with wide players but our players were too selfish last season, didn't pass to the most available player when they have a chance.

you know ball for noticing that ten hag's DM is required mostly for doing dirty work..that's why before we were linked to ugarte, we were linked to edson alvarez first but he got injured..he just want a 6 with lungs of a dog to do clean ups, not building etc
People who say baldie doesn't have a philosophy or tactics are just plain dumb. We were good at pressing last season higher up the pitch (except the gap in midfield). As you said we got a lot of selfish players cos of which we can't convert chances. I really hope Zirkzee can play the Tadic role
Casemiro’s onetime passing is so much needed in this united playstyle but he’s too old in terms of everything else. Need someone young with the same qualities as him

@@Blaze-qz5sw that's what the season is for because half the players there won't even be starting so we'll need to start over again when everyone is back it's partly why ETH refused to be more Conservative when we were poor last season to reduce the learning curve this season just that the transfer market is not making things any easier.

Ten Hag's system needs players that have the instant first control of the ball, players that are technically gifted and nimble on the ball. That's why he's being given time to mould the team by discarding English players that are not up to this. Mctomninay will be the next on the chopping board. Maguire as well though he might survive due to his leadership role. Luke Shaw is a sure bet to finally show his qualities on both ends with him getting through quality balls

They look like they're trying to draw out the press deep and then hit it long to the forwards when there's space to run in. Long ball football, but without hoofing it aimlessly. Instead of parking the bus in a 5-3-2 they try to keep possession to go long instead of looking to clear a cross or make a tackle near the box to start the transition. Inter were doing something similar all season.
