This time of the year is the planner version of the guy-turning-to-look-at-other-girl meme, where I am the guy, the girlfriend is the 2023 planner, and the woman walking by is the 2024 planner.
Thanks for another great video that really helps me stay in my current planner.

I admit, I always move into my new Hobonichi Weeks in late November/early December so I can have a mini fresh start 😀 It also means one less planner to set up in late December, when life gets busy

My goal for 2023 was to not die as someone ill for years. Had some close calls, but ayyyy still here. Here's hoping to enter 2024 slighlty healthier and move away from the borderline of death :')
    We can do it y'all🎉

There are two more months and I've FINALLY taken the step of going to the gym. Finances weren't stopping me. Travel time wasn't stopping me. I literally have a gym in my garage. I just didn't want to/ felt like it made me too tired... like, the goal of wanting to look good just wasn't enough, and the goal of keeping up with my kids (not my own children- children in my life) just wasn't enough.
What was holding me back was games... I know, seems dumb. But I realised I had a gaming addiction- that's all I REALLY wanted to do. And while I'd do my other responsibilities... well, I did them while constantly wanting to game. I wanted to get 300 (rather than 250) strawberry seeds on spring 13, and 15 catfish on day 3 instead of 10 (if you know, you know). Sooooo, I quit. I'm selling my Switch and I've uninstalled all my games off Steam.
Ever since then, I've been able to work so much faster and make time for the gym every second day. My house is cleaner than ever and I feel like I have hope again. Don't get me wrong, I miss it terribly. But I am just one of those people who can't do it in moderation.
Feel like I actually am starting on some of those goals I had (in my defence, they weren't "planned" just sort of "I would like to do this" kind of goals).

      @RachelleinTheory  9 месяцев назад +5

WOW. First let me say congratulations on quitting. This is such an empowering story. I’m so proud of you for first recognizing the real problem and then SOLVING IT LIKE A BADASS. And that feeling of viewing the world with hope again, and finally seeing you DO have the time and energy to take care of yourself… such a good feeling. Amazing amazing job!!!

I passed my comprehensive exams at the beginning of October, so I'm starting to work on my dissertation! My goal for the rest of this year is to have an outline of my overview to my committee by the 15th and create my presentation and poster for a conference in January. I'm not usually a quarterly planner, but now that I'm out of classes and into the "publish as many papers as you can and work on your dissertation" phase of the program, I'd like to be more structured with making progress, and quarters seem like a manageable chunk of time to make that happen.

My goals are reading, studying towards a master’s, and journaling. The goals that have not been accomplished are foreign language studying. I like your idea of determining the whys. That is motivating.

This video was a good thing for me because I realized I did accomplish something this year. I still have more to do (as well as my Christmas plans), but I will get my baby steps started for 2024. This was a good reminder that we don't fail completely.

  • @user-go4er2cb7u

The entire concept of a movement list and the “why” portion of the goals spread is so motivational and moving, like it’s very caring and determined to reflect in an actionable way. I think many people chasing goals should understand this and sharing this offhandedly shows the level of true development you’re aiming for in your intentional planning.
I know this is only a sliver of the video but yeah wanted to let you know that these small bits alone are such awesome tools, and that sharing these journaling ideas will likely help a lot of people. Thanks!

Hi Rachelle, I have recently had the flu, and I lay in bed binge watching your videos back to back. Your channel is amazing and has proved so useful for me in my planning life. As a student at the Open University I have found it hard to allocate time to my studies as lectures can be up until 9pm and it becomes difficult to have a routine as such. In fact I had pretty much given up on trying to plan my studies. However, you have given me so many tools to tackle this again and I wanted to thank you.
As a planner in her 40’s (yep I’m that old lol) I thought I was lost with my study life, you, however have shown me that there is always a way, and if not, I can always make one that fits me. ❤

I just used this technique and i feel so much more positive. I had written this year off, looking at next years planner and now instead I’m finishing my time now on a high. My life doesn’t restart in January, there is still chance to save at least some of my goals for this year / get a head start on next year. Thank you for the motivation!

Helpful video as always! I am going to set up a proper goal plan like yours but I have thought of two other headings which would help (me at least) with goal setting. One heading would be “Strategies that will help (or have helped in the past)” and the other heading would be “Obstacles that might get in the way (or have in the past)”. I guess you have got this covered with the Review section but I would find it personally helpful to have these two separated for easier review and updating on the fly.

I was worried about keeping up with my fitness while I go on my honeymoon in December, but I have a membership with Anytime Fitness, and I found they have some locations at my destination! I'm excited to try that. Hoping it works out nicely for you whether you're choosing the local gym free trial or if you exercise by home 😄

This was a wonderfully timed video. I'm thinking about 2024 but have reminded myself that I still have time to make movement now on goals that I'm thinking about for 2024 and need to wait until later in the year and see what I actually need to do in 2024. Assessing this year so far...really important too. Gotta take time to do that. Thanks for the reminder.

Thank you for sharing these great tips 😁 in my opinion, If you're going to the gym and not losing weight, you might be gaining muscle. I'm not an expert in this field but I've heard that muscle weighs more than fat and the more muscle you have then the faster your metabolism works. Basing your body on the number on the scales isn't always the best idea because a lot of "tone/ muscular/ fit people" will weigh more than "thin / slim people" (I'm not up-to-date with the correct way to address body type, apologies if I offended anyone, that's not my intention) in my opinion focus more on your goal like do you want more energy, more muscle, doing for it for fun or stress release rathan than doing for a number. Also the number on the scales will fluctuate daily because of water weight etc. I don't know if anything I said made sense and like I said I'm not an expert in this area. Keep up the good work and have a great year

I love the uniball jet stream! It’s actually a ballpoint pen, but it’s so smooth, like gel, and pigmented unlike lots of ballpoints which look light. It’s also the default pen that hobonichi gives you when you purchase a planner.
I use 0.38 for super thin writing but the 0.5 is beautiful too.
