We are now another song closer to completing the Eurovision 2024 lineup. Greece is joining the list of confirmed songs with the release of Marina Satti's song "Zari".
Marina Satti was announced as the Greek representative for Eurovision 2024 back in October, and now her song is officially out. Greek broadcaster, ERT officially unveiled the entry on a special presentation show, "Eurovision in Sight" on ERT1 hosted by Fotis Sergoulopoulos and Jenny Melita.

Marina raps an Ethnic Reggaeton.
The video has elements of satire of the Greek reality, in a multicultural environment. Furthemore, it shows the difficulty of Greece to balance between the invocation of our ancient achievements, the remnants and traditions of Anatolia, as well as the desperate attempt to keep up with the "Western" civilization.
All this in a mesh of humor and self-sarcasm, as it is strongly highlighted in the letter at the end of the clip.

@@petrostousias2013 όταν το άκουσα πρώτη φορά είχα πάθει σοκ δεν ήξερα πως να αντιδράσω ούτε τρελάθηκα ούτε χαλάστηκα, μετά το ξανά άκουσα και μου άρεσε και πάλι κ πάλι και τώρα το ξέρω απ' έξω και είναι φουλ κολλητικό και είδα όλη την φιλοσοφία του να ξεδιπλώνεται μπροστά μου. Δεν είναι ένα απλό τραγούδι αλλά έχει πολύ ουσία αν του δώσεις την δέουσα σημασία!

I always like Greek entries best when they are at their most Greek (some of my Greek faves are 1976, 1993, 2011 and 2013, & OTOH couldn't stand all those "shake it" songs in English in the 2000's), so yes, this is very nice 😅 She could have left the English bits out altogether, IMO, but still.

It’s crazy how people in Greece hate it.
Literally, the majority of people over 30 years old (mostly on Twitter) are calling it:
• An “Ugly Bollywood song”
• A “Disgrace for our country that makes them look like gypsies and Balkan villagers”
• The Epitome of Kitsch (they haven’t realised that the music video kinda satirises the stereotypes of Greece among tourists and the souvenir shop squares, but embraces them too)
• A “second hand embarrassment”.
• They’re asking how the fuck it was made by 9 conductors, stating that it was actually conducted on a toilet session
• Some of them are calling Marina Satti “Talentless” or that she is wasting her voice with that song
The 70% of greek comments on Tik Tok and other social media are hate comments stating that Greece will not pass the Semi Final and it will “fail”
However, the younger generation and more intellectual people love Marina and they are proud for her.
Were very angry watching our entry being loved and embraced from foreign countries while it is almost Hatecrimed here
