    I am reserving watching this entire video until New Year's Day! I have my yarn and hook ready to go. All the family will watch the Rose Bowl, and I will make this darling hat. Thanks for providing me with an constructive excuse not to pretend to love football! I can sit in the same room with my ear-buds in, and crochet to my heart's content. It's a win-win situation.

      +Katie Cooks and Crafts Katie, I just finished the hat! (Thanks so much for posting the directions on your blog.) It turns out that it isn't as easy as I thought it would be to crochet during a football game on New Year's Day. Lesson learned!

  • @leah3084

    You can make each ear flap an odd number so 3 st. will be left at the end, then make an I-Cord with these 3 st.
    Looks nice and all is in one piece without cutting the yarn at the end of each flap.

    I don't know in all these years, if you've already answered this, but I know the sizes are listed, for the beginning circle/top of the hat... But, is the depth you show in the video for a toddler size? about how many rows did you/would you do for a toddler, to get the "eyebrow/mid-ear" depth? TYIA

    Hi katie i wanna ask, if i use different yarn, more thin than you have and i use 3mm hook, what the result have same like you made? Or i have little result than you made? :) thank you for video

    • @KatieCooksandCrafts
      @KatieCooksandCrafts  6 лет назад

      smaller yarn and smaller hook means every stitch will end up smaller. You can still use that yarn for this hat but you will need to increase more on the crown of the hat before you start going down the sides. As long as you increase by 12 stitches every round you can increase the size of your crown until it is the proper size.

    • @wulandisastra
      @wulandisastra 6 лет назад

      I'm beginners.. Too confused for determine the size for toddler or for new born but thank you for your answer katie :)

    • @secheltsally
      @secheltsally 6 лет назад +1

      The easiest way is to match your hook size to your yarn. Usually recommended on yarn label. Then keep increasing rounds until your circle is right size for the hat you want. 6-7 inches for adult. Then stop increasing and work round and round in every stitch until length you want. Probably 7 inches for beanie or 8/9 for slouch hat. For baby or child size just google what size circle should be. It’s actually on this video. So you can use any yarn you like!

    i wanted to add a different colour around the end on bottom row and plate the 2 colours together is this possible on this seamless hat or do u think it would look silly?

    • @KatieCooksandCrafts
      @KatieCooksandCrafts  7 лет назад

      you can add other colors but because this is a spiral it wont look perfectly symmetrical (but probably noone will notice) or If you want to add other colors you can spiral multiple colors together from the beginning. Search my channel for "spiral rainbow" and you will find a tutorial for a hat and a bonnet done in this way. I think either way would work and give you a lovely hat

    so how much more would I need for and adult

  • @Chillinnn-xj8mg
    @Chillinnn-xj8mg 2 года назад

    Would this fit a adult size?

    • @KatieCooksandCrafts
      @KatieCooksandCrafts  2 года назад

      You can make it any size. The first part you make is the crown, it is a flat round disc that becomes the top of the hat. To change sizes you continue to increase until the disc is the appropriate size for the head you are making it for. Then continue without increases to make the sides of the hat.

    • @KatieCooksandCrafts

      That is one of the downsides of seamless hats, not easy to add stripes. Check out the pattern on my channel called Rainbow Swirl Hat, it is similar but multicolored

    How do you tighten the hat up if it's looking 'bell shaped'? I think my hook is too big for the size of my yarn.

    • @KatieCooksandCrafts
      @KatieCooksandCrafts  8 лет назад

      +Natalie Anguiano First count your stitches and make sure you didn't accidentally add a stitch or two. You would need to pull the stitches out until you get to where you added the extra stitch. If you didn't add any stitches it may just be stretched out from handling while you crochet. is the project finished? you can try to block it into the correct shape. If you are using a washable yarn you can just wet the hat and form it to the shape you want and let it air dry.

    • @aquakween
      @aquakween 8 лет назад +1

      +Katie Cooks and Crafts I think what I did wrong was, I used a bigger hook and my yarn wasn't very thick. I'm going to use the same sizes you used. It can out really cute but adult size.
