This one looks a lot like the Sheltie I had as a kid. Her name was Teepot, and if ever there was an angel in a dog's body, she was it. She was the most gentle dog in the world. Tragically, she was from a puppy mill and was cage-bred, so her back and hips started degenerating around 6 months of age. The vet did all he could, but said we probably wouldn't have her over a year. She lasted three years. I miss her tons to this day.
We have a Sheltie who "turns left" all the time as well...they are such awesome dogs! Full of loyalty and love! So smart and intuitive - all Shelties exhibit the same characteristics, but with their very own personalities - so great!

What a cutie! As for the ear tipping thing, my mom always uses bubble gum. Just chew it till it's soft, then roll a little bit between your fingers till it's sticky. Press it on the tip and there you go! It's worked for her for years, and it comes of fairly easily.
My mom and I use bubble gum :) Just chew it up a bit, and then put some on the tips of their ears. It comes off pretty easily after it's been there a while, and we've never had any problems with other dogs taking it off.

I had a customer in my mowing business who had one of these dogs, he became my best friend for the next 8 years. I still think of that dog now 8 years later after his passing, and this dog in this video looks exactly like him. This video is now 6 years old, do you still have him, and can you do another one on him and longer?
This dog was SUPER high strung, high energy. At the time I lived in an apartment and this thing would just run from one end to the other all day. No matter what, she just couldn't get the energy out of her. In the end we gave her to a family that lived on a farm and even then all she did was just run and run and run. I don't know if it's the breed or this particular dog but an apartment was definitely not the place for her. I didn't know about crate training at the time so when we both had to leave for work we would gate her in the small kitchen and she tore up the cabinets (chewed the edges off all of them) and would rip apart anything that she could even slightly get a hold of. She was hard to train also. Never got her potty trained. She would chew on anything and everything no matter how many toys we gave to her. Very hard to keep up with grooming - needs to be brushed every day or her hair would get dreadlocks. Very friendly, good with kids and strangers and other pets.
Not all Shelties are that high strung. Out of the 6 Shelties I've had only 2 were high strung and full of energy. One that was hyper, was very good at obedience and loved everybody. The girl I have now is hyper and does not like little kids and certain people. She could run all day and never get tired. It just depends on the dog and how it was bred. Lots of Shelties from backyard breeders are hyper. I also have a 4 yr old blue Merle boy and he is calm and loves everyone. They were purchased from different breeders.
Yes I agree, they are amazing in their own respect. I find these types of dogs have the most fun personalities. They seem to know what you are thinking even before you do or say it.
I can't believe you mentioned it, and even noticed it lol. He does have radar ears. When he was younger he did not have this... Sometimes both his radars are open for business lol!
@NannaD1989 Some Shelties ears are naturally folded over. Most if not all show Shelties have the folded ears, and there are a few things you can do for that to happen. It is a process called " Tipping " the ears. Once the puppies go through their first puberty phase, they teeth, and the cartilidge in their ears starts to get stronger, which straightens them out. Found him at a Kennel in South Central Georgia, just on the other side of Macon & Warner-Robbins, it was a thousand mile journey round trip, but it's been well worth it. I'm overdosing on Sheltie videos, pics and rescue centres after losing a little (what we believed to be) sheltie collie cross breed after rescuing her and having 16 and a half happy years. The void she left is immense and I'm sure there was sheltie in her somewhere with her looks and how very clever she was although she was obviously diluted in breed. She is irreplaceable, the little girl in my profile picture but we will rescue another dog to give him or her the loving home she had for all her life. Hopefully sooner than later and with the same nature hopefully.
@NannaD1989 You don't CUT your dogs ears. It's illegal in some states (if you are from USA). Breeders roll up a piece of duct tape (making it a double-sided tape) and stick on the tip of the ear and folds them in half. It'll go for a week or two but it'll come off (because of skin oil) and you have to do it again. You need to keep doing this for the first 6-8 months of their life, then they'll have cute bent ears forever.
put closeline clips on ur dogs ears for a couple hours a day for a week, u will get the sheltie ears look in no timer. most people do that to get the sheltie look.
Never ever cut your shelties ears,EVER ! To get your dogs ears to stay over ,either massage them on a daily basis or you can weigh them down for a time using something like BLU TACK on the tips and still massage them but really you need to be doing t from an early age most dogs have a natural fold and do not need anything dong to them but sometimes you can help nature along with the above tips.In the old days we used a mixture of a kaolin poultice and talc instead of blu tack.44yrs in the breed

Shelties are the best breed!! I've owned 6 throughout my life. I always won at obedience trials because they are so darn smart!!
