Also thank you for that info, did not no a sequel was coming. I enjoyed the original so much after trying to find another dungeon keeper like game. Also a lot of nostalgia to me having grown up on James Bond on laserdisc. I hope I can still make a wind blower spiral with a corpse freezer in the center. Loved the idea of killing agents by repeatedly slamming them into walls constantly.
This reminded me of a game that was just like it on newgrounds back in the day. I think it was called Mastermind? "You've failed me for the last time." Good memories, thanks Spiff.
I played this years ago. My favorite part of the game was watching the hordes of agents being burned, shocked or otherwise poked and poisoned by the numerous traps set up in the front door.
Yesss, I faking love this game Two of my personal favourite exploits from it that I still remember and was so proud to figure out as a kid were that if you set up the strongroom so that the gold was backed into a corner by the briefcase racks no one could steal it and when one of your minions defected you could double click on them to make them stop salute which would give the others time to beat them unconscious
The 2nd one was pretty key late game, having to train through 4 levels to get your elite martial artist is a ball ache. So is him killing all your minions that try to stop him leaving. But he can't punch while he's saluting
The old game called the Lord's of chaos has a few exploits where you carry impossible weights by filling up an empty vial with a potion when you have maxed out your weight limit. You can also throw locked treasure chests and filled couldrons across the entire map. That means your front line troops have explosive vials and healing as well as invisibllaty couldrons they can drink straight from. Good turn based game where you are fighting other people. Summoning a heap of creatures to fight for you is fun.
I am flattered by being called a "Fat Sand Rat". This is accurate as my neighborhood is mostly sand, I am slightly chubby, and I consider myself to be a rat.
My "happy memories" of this game are that I bought it at a charity shop when I was young, and when I got home (about to show just how young and dumb I was), there was only half a disc in there... You read that right... Half... A... Disc... I hadn't checked the case because I didn't know things existed prior to me looking at them, and thought something along the lines of "awesome, a game with words on it, I want that because it's a game." EDIT: *end of video* *Looks at half of the disc still sat on my game shelf* *sigh* One day... One day...
So moral of the story: You can be as evil as you want as long as you want, as long as you don't touch your maid. Edit: You people get me, thank you for 300+ likes, let's shoot for 420 and make this comment perfectly balanced as all things should be.
Used to love playing this when i was younger. Would always run home after school then go to my brothers room hop on and boot up either evil genius or jedi academy. The good old days where it was all simple. Lots of nostalgic vibes from this. I bless you spiff for this fine quality video
Spiff : let's make a tons of money while we are still in the tutorial. The agents won't even do anything. Me : That's cute. My Maximillian : *laughing with his two Uber Agent Twister Traps*
I did this, let the computer run overnight together with the "300 max minion capacigty" mod and ended up truly breaking the game. After having arrived at over a hundred million dollars in gold reserves, a worthy amount of miney for an evil genius, i wanted to go to the next Island and the game has some weird error not being able to process that amount of gold and it ends up crashing. Had to redo it to find out the maximum possible is probably about 20 million if you wanna reach the second island
Hmmm, I think the barracks makes perfect sense when you send out all your minions, it's not like they LIVE in the barracks, that's just where they keep their stuff while they're away on missions stealing??
This reminded me of playing Syndicate Wars on PS1 and using the "persuadertron" to make civilians into minions. You could amass a small army and just steamroll anything in your way. I remember having so many minions with lasers (and other visible beam weapons) that whenever I fired it overloaded the system and caused bits of the scene to briefly vanish, as well as making whatever I fired at permanently vanish. It was over the top glorious fun :)
I loved playing Evil Genius back in the day. It still gets fired up every now and then for some silly trap shenanigans. Its made better by the community mods and the blessed 1080p fix by racer_s. This game is well worth the time for the Goldberg style traps you can setup for the incoming agents. I cant wait for Evil Genius 2 which should be out this year.
Spiff - look into the mods for this game; they make it amazing! I honestly recommend the screen resolution update (fixes that 4:3 ratio you mentioned and can be further improved with texture packs) - and the mod to allow you to build an entrance anywhere in the system, along with building in that hard rock area/unbuildable areas! I can't get you links as I'm on my phone, but if there is interest I can try and find them.
One of my favorite games of all time. I freaking love it. Of course, it's made infinitely better when you increase the population cap and patch it properly. Edit: Side note, Evil Genius 2 comes out fairly soon!
@@oseansoldier You can edit the population.ini and set new limits. Search for Evil Genius population cap and you will find ways to do it. It's fairly easy to do and it makes it way more enjoyable to play with a raised cap.
Love this game, I've only discovered it a couple years ago on a recommendation from a friend, but it's quite unique. Tip: Though all the lockers have to accessible, the accessible area in front of each locker can overlap, so you can save a lot of space by arranging them into double rows.
Jemsterr Continent borders are the result of diplomatic/bureaucratic agreements. Why else is there a line between Asia and Europe, or Europe and Africa?
Ah the nostalgia! I can't wait for evil genius 2. "i recommend am-pu-ta-tion!" "oh, grandma" Also Shen Yu is great because he can lower the invasion rate, i think, and his bodyguard is great.
One of the reasons I always like your videos when you ask for a like, outside of your content being amazing and deserving likes regardless, is because you actually put effort into the way that you ask for it. You don't just say "LIKE THIS VIDEO" at the beginning, you'll actually create something that's thematic, have it interlink via context in some way, and put together images, and all this cool stuff. You'll put more time and effort (as far as voice recording takes, sequencing the photos, etc..) into asking for a like than some people put in their entire video combined.
I loved this game growing up. It was fun, challenging and wildly entertaining. Also the pop culture references will have you rolling on the floor with tears in your eyes. Just watch out for Jet Chan.
Of all the Tycoon games or similar that I've played growing up. Even Sim City along the way. I've never actually come across this. Which is saddening, looks like a fantastic game
I love playing this game, and have for years. I still play it today. My file has 500 million dollars just sitting around, which is far more than you ever need to beat the game
One of my most favorite games ever. I played it back in the day and I have replayed it several times since. In fact I was just thinking about playing it again the other day. I cant say enough good things about it. If one hasnt played this , one should go get it and get this amazing game in to their life. Its graphics are of course dated , but because of its cartoony 60's art style, you dont even really notice or care. If you plan on playing this or replaying this , there is a small mod availiable that allows you to build hotel assets in your base so you can create a realistic style fake hotel/casino front at the entrance of your base. Its a fun addition that is well worth tracking it down
Rebellion is planning a sequel to be released in the next year or two fingers Xd it doesnt suck as they only own the IP they didnt have anything to do with making the game
I know you probably don't care, and you just want your algorithms and prove by comments, but you have inspired me to check out this game that I've never heard of.

That means your front line troops have explosive vials and healing as well as invisibllaty couldrons they can drink straight from. Good turn based game where you are fighting other people. Summoning a heap of creatures to fight for you is fun.
Take a sip of tea every time Spiff says: "Minion"
Thank you now I'm drunk on tea
I've just visited another dimension due to a tea overdose
I played this and absolutely loved her.
I'm dying for Evil Genius 2 to release, which I believe will be later this year! It looks fantastic.
My god Evil Genius this brings back so many memories, its bloody amazing to see this game be played "fairly."
I am flattered by being called a
"Fat Sand Rat". This is accurate as my neighborhood is mostly sand, I am slightly chubby, and I consider myself to be a rat.
You also like cheese, and you know what else likes cheese? Rats.
It's a better name than the "Bastard Moray" and the "Bony-Eared Assfish"
My "happy memories" of this game are that I bought it at a charity shop when I was young, and when I got home (about to show just how young and dumb I was), there was only half a disc in there... You read that right... Half... A... Disc... I hadn't checked the case because I didn't know things existed prior to me looking at them, and thought something along the lines of "awesome, a game with words on it, I want that because it's a game."
EDIT: *end of video*
*Looks at half of the disc still sat on my game shelf*
*sigh* One day... One day...
That's happened to me. I had to buy 3 of the Sims 4 copies that were already used just to get a whole disc
Like... someone broke the disc into 2 pieces, and put one back into the case?
That doesn't make any fucking sense...
So moral of the story: You can be as evil as you want as long as you want, as long as you don't touch your maid.
Edit: You people get me, thank you for 300+ likes, let's shoot for 420 and make this comment perfectly balanced as all things should be.
If only Arnold Schwarzenegger knew this rule.
What if she wants too? *Sweating profusely*
It's the Schwarzenegger effect
So... innocent until proven guilty?
So real life then?
Used to love playing this when i was younger. Would always run home after school then go to my brothers room hop on and boot up either evil genius or jedi academy. The good old days where it was all simple. Lots of nostalgic vibes from this. I bless you spiff for this fine quality video
One the most extraordinary games I have ever played. Thank you for featuring it! ❤
5 mins in
Spiff: “halfway threw the video”
Me: looks at total time
*25 mins*
That's how he gets you.
14% of 0 is 0.
You spelt through wrong.
Looks like you through your dictionary in the garbage.
Liam McFaul Hahahaha
I remember playing this for the first time when it was a PC Gamer demo disc...
...
...that whole statement made me feel exceptionally old.
We are kinda old. Because I remember the same thing.
Same way I first played it
Spiff : let's make a tons of money while we are still in the tutorial. The agents won't even do anything.
Me : That's cute.
My Maximillian : *laughing with his two Uber Agent Twister Traps*
WHERE ARE THE SCHEMATICS TO BUILD ONE???
I've looked all over and can't find it.
(To build an uber-trap)
I did this, let the computer run overnight together with the "300 max minion capacigty" mod and ended up truly breaking the game. After having arrived at over a hundred million dollars in gold reserves, a worthy amount of miney for an evil genius, i wanted to go to the next Island and the game has some weird error not being able to process that amount of gold and it ends up crashing. Had to redo it to find out the maximum possible is probably about 20 million if you wanna reach the second island
I honestly thought this was the way the game was meant to be played as a kid.
Hmmm, I think the barracks makes perfect sense when you send out all your minions, it's not like they LIVE in the barracks, that's just where they keep their stuff while they're away on missions stealing??
I happen to think this myself
Tea drinkers think alike
OF COURSE! Think about it.
You come into work, you put your stuff in a locker, and then you get shipped off to Europe to do crime.
Yes. Why would you sleep in dungeon, when there is almost empty hotel next to you.
Been meaning to seriously play this game. I played part, or all, of the tutorial before stopping the other month, and it looked like fun.

"You see Mr. Powers... I love GOOOOOLD"
"we can exploit that kindness"

+90% of all successful buisness-people...
"On the inside, aren't we all just fat sand rats?" I felt that
Spiff - look into the mods for this game; they make it amazing!
Definitely looking forward to the second one. What did you do to patch it properly and increase the cap?
@@oseansoldier Likely mods or file edits, but not sure for certain
@@oseansoldier You can edit the population.ini and set new limits. Search for Evil Genius population cap and you will find ways to do it. It's fairly easy to do and it makes it way more enjoyable to play with a raised cap.
Love this game, I've only discovered it a couple years ago on a recommendation from a friend, but it's quite unique.
Tip: Though all the lockers have to accessible, the accessible area in front of each locker can overlap, so you can save a lot of space by arranging them into double rows.
I laughed so hard when I realized this plan actually involves an awkward IT guy
11:27 "I'm stealing money from Europe, why am I doing that, I live in Europe!"
oh poor Spiff...
Well, yes and no...
Europe yes.
The EU no.
We're still in Europe.
I guess changes I diplomatic/bureaucratic agreements move continent borders now. Interesting.
Jemsterr Continent borders are the result of diplomatic/bureaucratic agreements. Why else is there a line between Asia and Europe, or Europe and Africa?
I never thought I'd see evil geniuses on your RUclips channel this brings me back
One of the greatest games of all time. Can't wait for 2 to come out this year...been waiting for over a decade.
Evil Genius 2: World Domination has just been released. I'm waiting for your video, so I can learn to cheese it
yes! i can't believe Spiff hasn't made a video yet! lol
Reminds me a bit of that flash game Mastermind: World conqueror. Loved it so much! Exactly the same premise too
Which World Conqueror game?
I would rush to get the moon base so I wouldn't have to bother with tanks and helicopters.
"I forgot my cheesy snacks!NOOOOOOO!"
@@chriscormac231 Minion: Hey aren't we suppose to be conquering the world?
Mastermind: Destroying is conquering I looked it up!
@@Darkwizzrobe minion: what an assho*planet blows up*
Ah the nostalgia! I can't wait for evil genius 2. "i recommend am-pu-ta-tion!" "oh, grandma"
Also Shen Yu is great because he can lower the invasion rate, i think, and his bodyguard is great.
Dungeon Keeper 2... That's gotta have some exploits. Such a nostalgic game too
One of the reasons I always like your videos when you ask for a like, outside of your content being amazing and deserving likes regardless, is because you actually put effort into the way that you ask for it.
This game is extremely nostalgic to look at, even though I haven't played it. The UI just looks so '2000s'
Oh man, I love this old game, this one and Dungeon Keeper.
I find it hilarious every time spiff tells you to sit back relax and have a warm cup of tea I always have a cup of coffee in my hands
Fake fan 🙄😒
Get out of here with your bean juice
Heretic
You are a disappointment.
Kill the heritic!
"It's Hammy" God spiff, you really deserve that Yorkshire tea sponsorship. Good for you, good sir.
15:42 "You also technically have a bunch of traps which you can lay."
Spiff 03/12/2020
What a man of culture.
I adore this game, so you've at least inspired me to re-install it!
Of all the Tycoon games or similar that I've played growing up. Even Sim City along the way. I've never actually come across this. Which is saddening, looks like a fantastic game
Eleven-year-old me was very happy to discover this exploit back in 2004...
@@WildFungus Yeah , heard about this a few weeks ago. Not holding my breath as this has been in the works by various studios for years
I know you probably don't care, and you just want your algorithms and prove by comments, but you have inspired me to check out this game that I've never heard of.
This game hasnt left my hard drive since i go it back in the mid 2000's, any new pc i get this is one of the first games on my pc
The plot twist is the maid is the actual evil genius.
I still go back and play this game every once in awhile
I played this game back when it came out with a friend, seeing who could make the most messed up and broken trap setups was a blast.
6:50 "Jumped into the midpoint of the video", it's a quarter of the way in. >.
Yes... But you didn't expect it, did you?
Isn't anything between the beginning and the end the mid point ? ;)
Someone who likes to live dangerously be like: >while strapping a crash test helmet on, "SPIFFING DRINK THE COFFEE!"
I definitely discovered this loophole when I played this, years ago. It's so satisfying.
