- I've been thinking about this challenge since the release of Warhammer 3 and I decided to finally give it a shot. I love Gobbos. They're just cute, goofy, expendable Lil dudes who can be buffed into absolute beasts. Skarsnik is one of my favorite legendary lords, but I hated his starting position in Warhammer 2, so this was a perfect excuse for me to give him another shot.

I plan to do most of my videos in this style going forward. To be honest, most of my content so far was just an excuse to learn how to edit videos. That isn't to say that I didn't enjoy making it, or that I didn't like the games I was making videos on. Just that I didn't feel confident enough in my editing or commentary to make this style of video, which is what I really wanted to make all along.

That's exactly why I didn't play Grom. He's just too much of a Chad, lol. He turns gobbos into an absolute doomstack. I've never tried stacking as many armies as possible before, so I found this more intriguing.

Skarsnik's most successful cunning plan was spreading the lie that Goblins are no good in a fight.
Whenever play greenskins I just print nasty skulker armies. They get boosted into the moon by goblin buffs, they have stalk, they have ap damage and whenever they are winning they get even more attack.
As orcs, the 2 most annoying parts about the dwarfs are their armor and their range (their morale just allows those 2 to be even more annoying). With nasty skulkers, you can directly charge into their ranged units and you deal ap damage.
Honestly they kinda can be.
They're trash in a straight up melee slugfest, that's what orcs are for.
But they're a solid source of ranged damage as archers, nasty skulkerz can do a lot of damage if used right, and night goblins have the bonus of poison, as well as a TONNE of things that buffs them. An army with the right goblin general and ancillaries can be crazy stronk. And as we see here... goblins can be dirt cheap, and thanks to that, spinning loonz lets fanatics trade WAY above their weight class. when it works.

When you want to play skaven but are allergic to ratfur.
I can't even imagine playing as Skaven without ratling gunners or plagueclaw catapults haha.
This has the vibe of trying to do a campaign using only Skaven slaves
I tried it on hard/hard in WH2, throt the unclean with clone warfare makes it somewhat not impossible with ambush and outnumbering the enemy 4-1 (units, not raw numbers lmao). Throgg is a pain in the ass tho, I can’t imagine all of chaos factions there, PLUS Azhag AND Kislev

Nasty skulkers can actually achieve doomstack status, so getting stacks full of them then buffing goblins to the moon would be my strat.
The stalk will mean they don't need shields, while the ap means that they can even clear elite infantry reasonably efficient.
It's still nice to have 2-4 basic gobos, more to tie up damage dealers or to eat charges then flanking with Skulkers. I know you could just doom stack but it's slightly more cost effective.
I still remember warning my mate about nasty skulkers in one of our dwarf campaigns. He ignored me. Many brave Dawi died
@@aaronstorey9712 I remember my first dwarf campaign (before skulkers existed), and how I would have died to the same thing.
When you fight basic low tier units, 80 armor gives about 50% damage resist. So you don't expect goblins to dent your armor.
But then skulkers stalk, so they arrive healthy at your formations.
Following that they have ap damage, so they do damage twice as fast.
Then they have slightly better offensive stats compared to normal goblins.
And as if all of those weren't enough, when nasty skulkers are winning in combat their offensive stats become even better. Specifically with the last one, if it makes contact with a quarreler/miner/thunderer that unit will be lost in no time at all.

nasty skulkers are just amazing
i get a big spider and a leader and a goblin war boss, the rest skulkers and these stacks and take over the world not only that they can hide and vanguard deploy
you can find small areas behind or to the side of the enemy which you can use for vanguard for the sulkers
and because the enemy can only normally see your general and the big spider they set up in the wrong direction and march forward towards your leader
the next thing they know your coming in from the rear and sides and pretty much any missile or arty is gone straight away before the main melee can react and just swam over anything left
if skarsnik keeps his pet then squig hoppers and spider riders should be fair game
After playing Skarsnik myself... You're actually better off using only goblins. He can field an effective ranged checkerboard built out of sheer numbers of gobbo archers, because his full stack armies cost a whopping 800 gold each in the early game

This could be even more fun with the Expanded Roster: Goblins Mod. It adds forest goblins, more night goblin variations. It's great.
they really should give skarsnik the ability to ambush on offensive like skaven or beastmen

i love the goofiness of these videos just because of the nature of a lot of Warhammer factions mixed with the classical and opera music

They where a bit broken lol, with Grom’s statue, and his eight peaks landmark they became unbreakable, and having a full stack of unbreakable goblins guarding every settlement was a little ridiculous however it was hilarious.
Pretty sure Grom is better for all goblins since cauldron buffs can put goblins to another level.

This series is honestly some of my favorite Warhammer 3 content today. And opening with the flower duet was a good choice.
A year late, just got the game, been addicted to it and your challenge videos. Watching you unironically has made me better at the game. Who knew watching tactics of someone using horrible units to win the game would broaden my understanding? Great vids, would love to keep watching!
I'd say Grom would be my choice, regenerating, exploding arrow fearless gobbos is just too good

I'm considering that one as well - my only issue is selecting the right lord. Oxiotl would make it far too easy, so I might give it a shot with Kroq-gar. I like his location and he gives almost no buffs to skinks. Thanks for the input! I'm hoping to get started on that soon!

Skink javs are absurd for what they are, theres a reason legendoftotalwar(you can knock the man, but not his skill) spammed them.
I honestly think saurus would be harder, they just dont have the same cost effectiveness.

I tried this with only skavenslaves on hard battle difficulty and world difficulty and wow it is so hard, you have to ambush and outnumber 4 units to 1 to have any chance, and clone warfare as throt is the only way to get any good stats
Honestly, my first thought is to use Ikit Claw, avoid uphill battles, and use nukes when absolutely necessary. There are some armies that 4 stacks of skavenslaves can't kill - but nukes are the true equalizer. Everything dies to nukes.
I would also implement some standard limit of 1 or 2 heros per army. Just enough to make it possible.

Lol this is just like a skaven playthrough in the number of losses you can suffer.
When you said the Skarsnik comment I was like ha *Laughs in Grom*, but I realized I would have clicked off if you picked Grom because he is a monster.
I won't spoil too much, but by episode 2 (before turn 30) I manage to get 8 armies and maintain an income of around 4k/turn. I love Grom as well, but he certainly can't do that haha. At least without raiding and sacking.

I do this just because I like hording the enemy to death. I hate having a ton of archers just sit there and shoot up the enemy running back and forth after my leader on a flying donkey.

You could take a leader with "addicted to shrooms" to further drive down the upkeep cost.
Turns out some heroes can get the trait as well - I was able to recruit a goblin hero with the trait for ~150 gold. Unfortunately the only lord available with it was an orc.
Goblins is an awesome campaign with Grom. If anything, it's kinda easy. Literally just DROWN your enemies in bodies

i use goblins all the time in
Grom the oaunche's campaign. his cauldron mechanic makes him superior to Skarsnik. all the buffs that all the different ingredients give his goblins, dragon tail meat being my favorite. MO DAKKA! if you pick the right skills and cook the right recopies in his cauldron Grom's goblins become an unstoppable little WAAAGH! of course a few war beasts and war machines peppered in his armies always adds much more fun to Grom's campaign.

His goblins have better stats but Skarsnik can field more and make his own goblins unbreakable (he can get his leadership for goblins so high they just don’t ever break) so Skarsnik is just as good a choice.

Grom's goblin and cooking buffs can make goblins devastating.
I tried to play with Grom and lots of tier 0 goblin spearmen. It turned out if you use Grom's upgrades for goblins, research all technologies for goblins, give them armor using scrap metal and use a few ingredients...
You get 72 armor, 50 attack, 40 defence, regenerative goblin spearmen with 55% shields. That's basically elite unit, because black orcs in comparison have 110 armor, 40 attack and 30 defence, no shields and more damage. So, basically, tier 4 orcs are slightly better than tier 0 goblin spearmen. This allowed me to fight with any enemy elite infantry units 1x1 as equal lmao. Tested on Total War Warhammer 2.

Yes. The answer is YES. I slaughtered the world as Skarsnik. I manual faught most battles, and used mostly Skulkers. It's easy to cheese your way through. I managed this on Hard.

With Grom... Your best units are damn goblins... Feed them some troll meat and dragon meat. Upgrade them with scraps. And boom you got tankiest unit in game and goblin archers arrow exploding.... It will look like damn WW2 there.

Gobbo horde!!! I woulda let you use their mounts though, any unit with a gobbo present is a gobbo unit so pump wagons and squig riders are okay hell even squigs without riders too

That first battle load in time dang near got my eyes watering. I really need to update my potato. Takes me like 4 to 5 minutes to load a battle so I almost always sim.
I would recommend a good ssd, if you don't already have one. Back when I had a low/mid end system, upgrading from a hdd to an ssd cut my load times from minutes to seconds. You can get some decent ones for ~$50

imo gobbos got so much good stuff and buffs plus they are cheap as hell that it should be more of a challenge using only classic orcs
