I never really use Trolls in normal Greenskin campaigns as they aren't the most cost-effective option in most cases due to their terrible base leadership, but this campaign has turned out to be really fun so far.

fun fact: grom is uniquely good as a chariot since hes the only lord who can attack while moving,other than collision damage,since he hits with his axe while hes being driven
I wish settra would get this so bad, all lords on chariots should. But Settra for sure.
He should be standard to how chariots work.
And archaon should be standard how cavalry work since he actually can attack routing enemies instead of knocking them down.
I doubt CA will do it.
But I hope the community will do it in 1-2 years maybe

@@loowick4074 They sorta patched this in recently by removing the artificial limit on how many units can attack during a pursuit. Used to be like 40%, now every unit can do it. Charge/pursuit AI could still use some better logic and unit cohesion, but still a huge improvement.

Well, Grom did eat a troll meat, which due to the meat's regenerate properties, has grown grom to his enormous size. So, Grom's body mass is probably at least 50% troll.
Probably more since he is a goblin
Is there any mention that the regenerative properties of troll meat have introduced anatomical differences that just eating food in the same pace as the meat is regenerating can't replicate?
If for example he was eating eggs to get that big and kept eating them at the same pace as just regenerating troll meat does, would you say he's 50% egg?
As I have understood it, it's not anything special in troll meat that changed him. It was just gross overconsumption of food that most, if not all other goblins could not replicate
It could be that brute forcing food inside of him would be too slow and he could not reach the same immensity by consuming food the regular way
Of course if you count the content of others stomach as part of them then yeah, Grom might be 50% troll
Although it's always the same piece of troll meat inside of him so it could be seen as a more intrinsic part of Grom than regular eating where the contents change
What would happen to ogres when they eat raw troll meat? Their gut might just be too powerful and overpower the meat
Maybe skaven could tinker themselves or pets to not need to be fed since they make them have a gut that create a perfect equilibrium with raw troll meat

Grom is an honorary troll because the River Troll Hag he starts off with is definitely his wife, he married into the family. This challenge run is just the family reunion, and the rest of the world trying to deal with it.

He also ate a chunk of ever healing troll flesh and has became part troll due to his insane resilience

Explanation for the weird auto resolve with lighting strike: You start with reduced vigour which really hurts the army. And since all the enemy units were puny humies facing both was better for auto resolve
There is always a catch but that's the best way to keep Lightning Strike from being too good

I know of Wuzzag's unkillable stone Trolls. Giving trolls a missile attack would just make them even better.

quick comment, if you want to doomstack the trolls, confed wurzzag as quickly as possible, his 25% phys resist for trolls is massive along side the buffs from groms cauldron, at that point they are legit too stupid to die. love your content.
Then add lizardmen wagggh effect
Fun fact, the trolls do a special kind of damage to enemy units. Emotional damage.
Should have tried it with the ‘Trolls for the Troll King’ mod for Throgg. Provides more Troll hero types,and a bunch of new troll units.

Just by watching how you play, I've improved how I play extensively. I used to get almost wiped out on like turn 40. Now I'm on about turn 80 as lizard men and I'm doing the soul tornado campaign on Warhammer 2 I thank you for the funny content and the indirect pointers for a player that's only been playing for 2 weeks. Really love these videos, a campaign idea I had fun with was Nakai Kroxigor only, I got to a point where I was destroying the entire armies of chaos the turn they spawned in WH2
Lightning strike makes your units enter to battle with tired vigour, that's why the auto resolve changed like that
But... against twice as many enemies?

16:40 when you use lightning strike, your units automatically start the fight with exhausted vigor, basically making their stats worse, mainly :
-30% melee attack and charge bonus, -10% melee def and damage , -25% armor and -15% speed

I remember that Ovn lost factions campaign mods let you play as Ugma the River Troll chief, a unique (and very funny) campaign in which you have 9 different types of trolls units to use, plus some goblins cannon fodder which can literally be given to the trolls as food to restore their health. Very cool campaign, it's a blast.
I love warhammer 3 so much, but the pathfinding makes battles so frustrating. I hate ordering a unit to attack through a gate and they decide to line up conga-style and walk to their deaths 1 by 1 through the enemy gates.
Fun fact: Grom is so corpulent that he can no longer see his own legs, but that’s okay - he’s also grown powerful enough in Greenskin society that he can have others see his legs for him!
the reason for the auto resolve at 16:48 is because youre units begin the battle exhausted with lightning strike or tired, but that plays into the auto resolve measure meant since its a heavy debuff something like 20 percent across the board

16:44 This kind of thing happened to me too in my Mors campaign. The auto resolve predicted that I would lose the battle. But for some reason, if I purchased exactly 8 menace belows (not more or less than that), the auto resolve predicted that I would get a pyric victory.

Thanks! Personally, I mostly watch RUclips on my phone, so I try to make everything at least somewhat mobile-friendly. I find that with basic Total Warhammer footage, it's impossible to read most of the text on a small screen. Also, there is so much on the screen at once that I'm hoping it makes it more accessible to newer players who might not know where to look.
Surprised you didn't try an all troll army with Throgg, since he is a troll.
He is, but he has access to 2 troll units instead of the 4 that Grom has (including the river troll hag hero). Also, the different cauldron buffs are more interesting than basic, static buffs imo. I also have a couple challenges for Norsca that I'm going to try eventually.

Found you back when you started your all guns Imperial campaign, really enjoying the total war videos. Your current content is incredibly high quality for how small of a channel you are, you have good, intelligent commentary with engaging explanations of some of your strategies. One thing I think you should employ is maybe discussing some more aspects of the game that you’re exploiting such as how you’re addressing the trolls low leadership for newer players like myself. I’ll watch regardless since I enjoy the content but it might attract people who are brand new to total war as well. Regardless, keep up the good work!
The "Waagh monga" effect from having high reputation (which is the currency used to declare a WAAAGH. Gained mainly by razing settlements and winning battles) gives the Greenskins gives a flat +10 leadership factionwide.
On top of that, the recipe that I got towards the end giving "monstrous disease" gives them +8 leadership and "Immune to psychology" (which prevents fear, terror, and several other leadership-reducing effects from being used against them) when they're above 50% HP. This combined with Grom and the River Troll Hag Hero both being very good at increasing the leadership of units around them as well as their high level due to killing so many enemies gets them up to something like ~80 effective leadership in battle - which is damn good for monstrous infantry.
I might start using my second channel to do a quick breakdown of all the buffs, debuffs, and strategies I used after each campaign. I think it makes more sense to go over it all at once because otherwise, it's hard to see how it all works together over the course of an entire campaign.

Point about lightning strike autoresolve - lightning strike makes your army tired, this sometimes causes worse outcome with LS than without (16:43). But in this case... interesting autoresolve at best.

Trolls are seriously underrated. Of course, they are better if you back them up with infantry, but aside from their leadership, they have some genuinely high stats for monstrous infantry.
Crazy that they added so much great stuff to Warhammer 3 like the much needed diplomacy rework, then completely bungled unit pathing in sieges even worse than in Warhammer 2. Getting units to attack barricades without going all the way around sometimes makes me want to pull my hair out.

18:45 The reason why all of those orc factions get wiped out so much faster than the average minor faction is because of the orc confederation mechanic. All of the smaller ones are “destroyed” by the legendary lord factions.

Oh, neat trick that still matters if anyone reads this. The reason he had lower casualties without lightning strike is because the reinforcements change the game logic on how long the fight is and regen matters!

Yea the settlement battles have extreme jank issues with pathing and unit responsiveness/infinite towers.
People who cry for settlement battles to come back are actual masochistic sadists im 100% convinced. You cannot tell me ANYONE finds spam clicking their units to take 3-5 minutes to turn a corner fun. It is basically game breaking.
Honestly, I think a lot of it depends on what factions you play/fight the most. There are a few factions with relatively better settlements, but my holy shit are the bad ones bad.

Regarding your Lightning strike, Lightning Strike affects your vigor in battle. Thus making you weaker in auto resolve. Same reason why a marched army is weaker in auto

TW games you can with with almost any type of T2 unit spam from any faction. Except maybe chariots lol.
For the lightning strike auto resolve and losing units with lightning strike it’s because they start the battle with I believe tired vigor and I’m sure somehow that makes a big difference

Hey Brilliant! I was about to get into total war warhammer 3 and possibly bring my friend along... until I found out you have to own all three games to play this mode, I guess i'll have to stick to watching your videos
I would recommend starting off with Warhammer 1+2 whenever they next go on sale. Recently they were something like 70-80% off and honestly, Warhammer 2 is 98% as fun as the current state of Warhammer 3.
