It's usually foolish people that laugh at that kind of thinking, oil is cheaper than a new engine

fuck em, most people don't understand how engine oil change intervals are even calculated. It's all based off of run time. If the engine for example is rated at 166.66 hours between oil changes they assume a constant speed of 60mph and multiply that by the hours to get a 10000 mile interval. If you actually keep track of your engine hours you'd know your average speed is not even close to 60mph and hit 150 hours between 2500-3000 miles. People changing at 10,000 miles don't realize the amount of engine hours makes it equal to like a 40,000 mile oil change.

I used to think modern synthetic oil could go like 7k or 8k miles, but then I started to notice that every single person with 400k+ miles on an engine had one thing in common. They changed the oil every 3k miles or maybe 4k at the most, with full synthetic.
The anecdotal data I’ve seen is overwhelming. I do my own oil changes so it’s cheap. Supertech full synthetic and oem Toyota filter for $26 total.

@joshmiller2725 yea I was going to do 5000 miles on my two Hondas, but then I discovered how cheap it is to do yourself using supertech. Every 3 to 3.5 thousand miles now. I enjoy it too so it's no big deal at all

The distance is shown in kilometers not in miles. So this is a little deceiving. Still changin it at 5000 km is the best to keep car running for ever.

The km/h you're seeing is for the small numbers. The big numbers are miler/hour. On US cars, the odometers shows miles traveled.
