I have a question. Nothing to do with the Drifter tho. My question is this. In Destiny 1, base game, there is a mission to the Ishtar Archives ( I think) in which a computer welcomes you- the gaurdian- back and calls you Dr. Shin. Any lore about him/ us?
I wish Ghosts played a larger role in the story. Hearing about the Drifter and the other "dark" Guardians who walked away from the Traveler and used their power for more nefarious purposes just makes me wonder what their Ghosts are like. What personalities do they have? They chose this person and continue to serve beside them after they've gone down this path and I'd like to see them. One of the things I really liked about the Osiris DLC was that his Ghost was a major character. I like Sagira and was happy to spend some time with her. I think Pulled Pork is an interesting character as well and I hope that we get to interact with him as much as we interact with Uldren. Now I want to meet the Drifter's Ghost and get to know Zavala and Ikora's Ghosts. They're characters who should be fleshed out like any of the Guardians.
There is even the collection of lore tabs called "Ghost Stories". Most of them revolve around either ghosts who never found their guardian, things they and their guardian do, or even ghosts deciding to not bring back what was supposed to be their guardian. Some of it is tragic, a little funny, and quite interesting. It's all up on the Ishtar Collective if you haven't gotten them all yourself.
Ghosts have huge roles, they're the ones selecting the resurrected...our Guardian wouldn't even have a story if not for our Ghost and nobody here would even be a part of the world we love in Destiny. I was playing Gambit right before fighting fallen and The Drifter said “show them why The Traveler left them and chose us!” I know it has been mentioned in lore previously that the traveler was with the fallen but just hearing it from an actual character in the game is so much cooler and knowing that it is now confirmed is pretty awesome
David Cross Xol had to have his sword logic proven by us Guardians killing him, hence why Whisper of The Worm exists. My theory is that whatever is on the Drifter’s ship thingo has to consume the ‘soul’ or darkness of the Primeval.

Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command one by one. Valus Tu'arc, from what I can gather he commands the Seige Dancers from an imperial land tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected. But with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out and break their grip on Freehold.

It also shows that for one reason or another, the iron lords saw it was in their best interest to go after him. What do you think of that?
The only really hard part about getting Dredgen is killing Invaders while in their super. They have to first use their super in the first place, and secondly the super they use really needs to be a roaming super. I have 3 kills to go until I get dredgen

I don't think it's the Darkness itself, but it certainly is intrinsically linked to it and the Light. Remember, the Hive also had Light-consuming swords, but they are not the real Darkness, only pawns to it and to the Worm Gods. I'm sure Byf will address that in time, though.

(If you’ve not got the full lore book, spoilers ahead, don’t say I didn’t warn you) The lore book described a formless, betentacled mass, inexorably drawn to the Light. It sucked up a Guardian’s light, and killed him in the process.
@@paintothemax7126 Yup! The main problem here is that we simply don't have enough information from the lore to accurately say what true Darkness really is. It may well be that Darkness simply never manifests directly, just as how the Light needs the Traveler as its medium. I'm very keen to see if the next season will give us more information about those things hiding in Drifter's Derelict.

The drifter is the personification of doubt. Doubt the Light, doubt the Traveler, doubt the City, the Game, the Dark, what we think we know, and even him. That's the point. He himself is doubtful of the Light, and doubtful of what we think of the Dark. It would appear a thinks we require both, or has some inkling. The Gambit says it on the tin: it introduces Guardians to the Dark, how it feels and works. Perhaps some will be seduced by it, but others... they will use it. Take it for themselves, and can you imagine the power of a Guardian, or a person capable of walking the line of light and dark with so much grace and precision?
Kyle Harlequin We should. Dredgen and the Shadows has their powers. Drifter does. Far as we know Guardians can do whatever they want and maintain their Light. Warlords in the Dark Age did nasty stuff.

So Shin Malphur is truly the man who killed Callum Sol, one of Drifters' friend, introduced at the Malfeasance quest in 'The Corrupted' mission, which takes place in the Ascendant and makes complete sense about Shin Malphur hunting all Dark-Light bearers...
With the Followers of the Shadows Of Yor around the centuries being killed by The Last Word Bearer, Shin, we can guess that the Drifter is running from Shin, and his "Crew" or "Band" and he mentions in many ocassions is being hunted by Shin to kill them all like he did with Callum Sol, and by this he forged the Malfeasance with our help to kill Shin Malphur; because he said his crew needs a gun as powerful as the 'Thorn' of Dredgen Yor to defeat Shin Malphur commonly known as "The Gunslinger"...
Hopefully, Bungie gives more importance to this kind of Lore and introduce us a good quest of "The Last Word" returning on Jan. 29. With many lore introduction and more information about Shin Malphurs' intentions and The Drifters true purpose.

You mean using the Darkness? Not all that is dark is evil, like how not all that is light is good.

Also choose the side you want to fight on. Evil light bearer or dark wielding good guy...

The drifter is by far one of my favorite characters because he is not blinded by light or dark propaganda and has his own style
The Nothingness/Void seems to be an eventual major enemy. With Darkness and Light we can defeat the enemy Calus saw. The perfect void.

I really like the quote "the most dangerous games are played" a possible reference to the short story "the most dangerous game" which is about a rich man hunting other humans on his private island.
People like that hunter is the reason why I gave up on Destiny PVP

I’m a simple man, byf uploads I watch, I see drifter I listen, I hear foods ready, I run
Warframe, yes please. Gambit yes please. There are times Drifter mentions: "Every mote you bank brings drifter closer to salvation" When you side with him in the Vanguard or Drifter quest, you're told he have a seat for you, in the ship, when things go "bad"
Perfect timing, just finished the Malfeasance quest, which has some unsettling lines from Drifter - looking forward to where this story is going.
1:33 this hunter... this is the true legend right here. Stories will tell of him learning blink where no hunter could. The stories of him evading death by throwing his router into a toilet and putting a toaster with it. The man who surprisingly interested byf enough for him to be put in his video. The true MVP of gambit right there. No invader shall defeat him.
