Hey guys did you know that Vaporeon can learn Mist in Yellow, but only under a very specific circumstance? In Yellow, Vaporeon is meant to learn both Haze and Mist at level 42. However, the programming at the time is so bad it's impossible for a Pokémon to learn two moves at the same level. As a result, Vaporeon will only learn Haze and not Mist. Pokémon who leveled up using the Daycare do not have this restriction though. If Vaporeon reaches level 42 while in the Daycare, it will learn both Haze and Mist.

Dissatisfaction with the canon story can certainly be a reason for reading fanfiction. My main reason though is that I get _very_ invested in some of these worlds that authors create. The only two stories that I read fanfics for are Harry Potter and A Song of Ice and Fire, and that's because of how much potential there are in those worlds. Its interesting to read people's takes on Harry being sorted into Slytherin, or Jon Snow not joining the Night's Watch, and having them interact with characters they never met in the canon story, for example. Its also interesting reading a world in which Harry isn't the boy who lived, or Rhaegar won the rebellion, so that we can see how completely different things could be.
I was exactly like this with Gate. The anime actually managed to downplay a lot of the issues with the canon story, and thankfully ended before the problems got worse, because when you read the manga and novels... It's... Bad... I was super happy when my fic got a TV Tropes page, too, so yeah, gotta agree.

I can totally relate to Connor eating Pringles in Korea, because literally everything I ate in Korea (including all the savory dishes) was sweet. I NEVER eat crisps or Pringles, but I was so desperate for something truly savory that I ended up snacking on a Korean brand sour cream and onion crisps (the only truly salty one I could find). All the food being sweet was probably the thing that most surprised me in Korea. That's not to say I didn't enjoy my stay. Korea is truly one of the most gorgeous and fun places I ever had the pleasure to visit. Will be back again someday.

I agree. I'm Korean American, born in the states, but my parents were born in South Korea and they tell me their times in Korea and the food. They LOVE the pale hotdogs. I HATE them. They bought some Korean hotdogs from Hmart, told me they were good, but they were in this weird packaging for a single hotdog, bit into it, and it was WHITE. NO FLAVOR. I had to spit it out. I grew up eating meaty, spicy sausages in the states, I felt offended they called that thing a hotdog. Korean hotdogs in the states at least used American hotdogs so they taste better. But I hate how they put so much sugar as a topping. I always ask for no sugar and they stare at me weirdly. It's a savory food, let me eat the salt!
I felt alienated when I first saw it in an anime that they ate raw hot dog straight out of a wrapper. I was first disgusted since it's a bit cold and they taste like luncheon and they're not cooked. But seeing it portrayed in an anime made me go along with it and learned that you can eat those kinds of foods without cooking them, so they're safe. It still taste processed af but I kinda like the fishy flavour.

honestly i feel like most of fanfic reader really don't read it because they're dissatisfied with the ending, i think they mostly enjoy it mainly because they want to see specific characters in specific situation that won't happen in the original materials. That's why there's so many kinds of fanfic ranging from making different endings, shipping two characters, even character studies. it's like doujins y'know, you get in expecting horny (sometimes) and you get out getting something surprisingly good
I see fanfics as a game board. Every knows the rules, the playing board, the pieces, etc. So you just want to see the game play out in different ways. Seeing factions that never fought, fight, new unintended interactions, certain mechanics in the system being exploited. Even self inserts are essentially an author trying to play the game themselves.
By the way, the reason why stuff is sold in open cups (or at least where I’m from) in stadiums is to prevent people from throwing bottles full of liquid. If we get a bottle in a stadium, they take off the cap before they give it

In the FGC, during one year of the Tekken World Tour, one of the Top 8 finalists was a dad who started playing Tekken 7 the same year he competed. IIRC he managed to get 5th place IN THE WORLD. He was balancing a job, being a husband & father while practicing everyday in his spare time for a year and made it to the top.

You may not believe me but often times it's faster to read the story than to watch it. If you wanna make the transition just watch an anime/read a manga until there's no longer more and you HAVE to read the novel to know more. It's the most optimal way in my opinion. Your imagination doesn't have to do all the heavy lifting (you remember how the characters/scenes look) and you already have a motivation to read (you like it already). I still struggle to read things with no anime/manga but if it's in the top 1000 rated novels I already know it's gonna be fun.
Banger episode boys I do like when the episodes have a bit more structure, like the first part about Korea, then the 2nd part about anime, but it still feels like just banter between friends :) I got similar vibes with that recent horror anime tt episode.
I like fanfics that expand on the source materials. While probably most fanfics are alternative routes or shipping storys there are those wich take place in the world without disrupting the canon. For example there's one I really enjoy that takes place between the second and thrid Eva movie about Asuka and Mari wich helps to understand their relationship more in my opinion. It's also really cool to see someone else besides the author being so familiar these characters to the point as if they were the actual writer. Its like how you can create something but dont have to be the best with it just cause its your creation.

The reason many stadiums don't allow plastic bottles specifically with a cap is that they are considered trip hazards. A bottle without a cap will be crushed if someone runs over it while a bottle with a cap on will resist and roll if someone steps on it and can cause people to trip in the cause of an emergency. Same reason glass bottles aren't allowed though they can also be used as weapons.

Dissatisfaction with the canon story can certainly be a reason for reading fanfiction. My main reason though is that I get _very_ invested in some of these worlds that authors create. The only two stories that I read fanfics for are Harry Potter and A Song of Ice and Fire, and that's because of how much potential there are in those worlds. Its interesting to read people's takes on Harry being sorted into Slytherin, or Jon Snow not joining the Night's Watch, and having them interact with characters they never met in the canon story, for example. Its also interesting reading a world in which Harry isn't the boy who lived, or Rhaegar won the rebellion, so that we can see how completely different things could be.
God knows Power Rangers Megaforce is a perfect example of "fans being so frustrated with the official content, they made their own version"
I was exactly like this with Gate. The anime actually managed to downplay a lot of the issues with the canon story, and thankfully ended before the problems got worse, because when you read the manga and novels... It's... Bad...

I can totally relate to Connor eating Pringles in Korea, because literally everything I ate in Korea (including all the savory dishes) was sweet. I NEVER eat crisps or Pringles, but I was so desperate for something truly savory that I ended up snacking on a Korean brand sour cream and onion crisps (the only truly salty one I could find). All the food being sweet was probably the thing that most surprised me in Korea. That's not to say I didn't enjoy my stay. Korea is truly one of the most gorgeous and fun places I ever had the pleasure to visit. Will be back again someday.

I agree. I'm Korean American, born in the states, but my parents were born in South Korea and they tell me their times in Korea and the food. They LOVE the pale hotdogs. I HATE them.
They bought some Korean hotdogs from Hmart, told me they were good, but they were in this weird packaging for a single hotdog, bit into it, and it was WHITE. NO FLAVOR. I had to spit it out.
I grew up eating meaty, spicy sausages in the states, I felt offended they called that thing a hotdog.
Korean hotdogs in the states at least used American hotdogs so they taste better. But I hate how they put so much sugar as a topping. I always ask for no sugar and they stare at me weirdly. It's a savory food, let me eat the salt!
I'm curious, is it similar to those individual hotdogs where you can snack them uncooked?

I felt alienated when I first saw it in an anime that they ate raw hot dog straight out of a wrapper. I was first disgusted since it's a bit cold and they taste like luncheon and they're not cooked. But seeing it portrayed in an anime made me go along with it and learned that you can eat those kinds of foods without cooking them, so they're safe. It still taste processed af but I kinda like the fishy flavour.

honestly i feel like most of fanfic reader really don't read it because they're dissatisfied with the ending, i think they mostly enjoy it mainly because they want to see specific characters in specific situation that won't happen in the original materials. That's why there's so many kinds of fanfic ranging from making different endings, shipping two characters, even character studies. it's like doujins y'know, you get in expecting horny (sometimes) and you get out getting something surprisingly good
I see fanfics as a game board. Every knows the rules, the playing board, the pieces, etc. So you just want to see the game play out in different ways. Seeing factions that never fought, fight, new unintended interactions, certain mechanics in the system being exploited. Even self inserts are essentially an author trying to play the game themselves.

I'm with Connor on the meat thing. I feel so much better after eating meat rather than carbs like rice n noodles. I have never once in 50 years gotten sweats from eating meat. However, I do fall asleep after eating carbs. Like knocked out, cannot wake up if I try. Different genetics guys.
That's actually just regular genetics, studies show that carbs make most people sleepy while proteins wake people up and energize them
In the FGC, during one year of the Tekken World Tour, one of the Top 8 finalists was a dad who started playing Tekken 7 the same year he competed. IIRC he managed to get 5th place IN THE WORLD. He was balancing a job, being a husband & father while practicing everyday in his spare time for a year and made it to the top.
Literally need to have an episode with the King Kogi channel!!!!! That would be amazing since the creator spent years in Korea and really knows the country on not just a RUclips creator, but as someone who has worked as a teacher there so they really know how the everyday person lives.

1:36:46 He's absolutely right. Reading is one of the best things EVER. I swear I cannot go back to watching anime/manga for more than 3 episodes. You may not believe me but often times it's faster to read the story than to watch it.
If you wanna make the transition just watch an anime/read a manga until there's no longer more and you HAVE to read the novel to know more. It's the most optimal way in my opinion. Your imagination doesn't have to do all the heavy lifting (you remember how the characters/scenes look) and you already have a motivation to read (you like it already).
I still struggle to read things with no anime/manga but if it's in the top 1000 rated novels I already know it's gonna be fun.

I like fanfics that expand on the source materials. While probably most fanfics are alternative routes or shipping storys there are those wich take place in the world without disrupting the canon. For example there's one I really enjoy that takes place between the second and thrid Eva movie about Asuka and Mari wich helps to understand their relationship more in my opinion. It's also really cool to see someone else besides the author being so familiar these characters to the point as if they were the actual writer. Its like how you can create something but dont have to be the best with it just cause its your creation.

The reason many stadiums don't allow plastic bottles specifically with a cap is that they are considered trip hazards. A bottle without a cap will be crushed if someone runs over it while a bottle with a cap on will resist and roll if someone steps on it and can cause people to trip in the cause of an emergency. Same reason glass bottles aren't allowed though they can also be used as weapons.

Expat generally implies someone who lives long-term outside their home country but with the intention to eventually go back. Immigrants move to a new country with the intention of staying permanently and pursuing citizenship if possible. By these definitions most westerner streamers/youtubers currently living in Japan are in fact expats, not immigrants, as are many westerners in Japan in general since pursuing citizenship or permanent residency there as a foreigner is so difficult. The terms are often misused interchangeably though, with "immigrant" of course being used more often in the media to describe poor people fleeing horrific conditions to wealthier nations.

I hate to complain but, I mostly have been listening to Trash Taste on Spotify and I hadn't even realized they had new merchandise that came out till I listen to this podcast episode the next day at work when at the end of the episode they said they had merch. I'm not sure if they've been promoting it in other episodes on RUclips but. I hope the boys or someone from their teams sees this and in the future promote future merch drops on podcast apps so people like me who don't watch them on RUclips as much don't miss out on some of the best merch drops, I saw that jacket Connor was wearing and instantly felt sad I'd never get it all cause I never knew they were even selling them
