@@Guillsin That is incorrect, anyone using twitch in Korea will not be able to earn money. They are not shutting down the twitch servers, you can still watch twitch, you can still stream but you will not be able to access subs or bits. Twitch is cutting off the financial business in Korea. No subs, no bits, no ad payments, nothing. So unless you get your money exclusively from Patreon or other sources, you will not be able to sustain a living on twitch. And even streaming on Twitch from Korea might be cut so you can only watch. The only option for people to continue to stream on twitch is to use VPNs and create businesses outside of Korea to collect the money and then have it converted into Korean and sent to you.

I feel like fanfics arent always because we're dissatisfied with the end, its just that we want more of those characters and story. The amount of HP and Merlin fanfics Ive read are wild. There are better fanfics than some published books
The series that get the most fanfics are the ones where the creator sets up an interesting world, creates interesting characters... and then completely buggers the plot.
Well, that and the fairly obvious 'more popular series get more fanfics because more people know they exist to begin with' element, but once you account for that.
Most of the published books I’ve read have been worse than some fanfics. The amount of work and passion some fanfic authors pour into their works for (usually) no pay is insane.
This. Some of the best things you get from fandoms are artists’ interpretation on the daily lives of the characters.

I have a printed copy of a book that is a My Little Pony / XCOM Enemy Within crossover. there is not a chance in hell that either company would greenlight that, but it is like salted caramel to me. Unicorns blowing up aliens with their minds, soldiers learning the power of friendship, and a 3 way war between planets. it's an amazing story, a real heart wrencher, and I've read it 8 times.
Hasbro isn't going to make an official story where pinkie pie gets attacked by a facehugger during a secret raid on a supply depot.

Hey guys did you know that Vaporeon can learn Mist in Yellow, but only under a very specific circumstance? In Yellow, Vaporeon is meant to learn both Haze and Mist at level 42. However, the programming at the time is so bad it's impossible for a Pokémon to learn two moves at the same level. As a result, Vaporeon will only learn Haze and not Mist. Pokémon who leveled up using the Daycare do not have this restriction though. If Vaporeon reaches level 42 while in the Daycare, it will learn both Haze and Mist.

I agree. I'm Korean American, born in the states, but my parents were born in South Korea and they tell me their times in Korea and the food. They LOVE the pale hotdogs. I HATE them.
They bought some Korean hotdogs from Hmart, told me they were good, but they were in this weird packaging for a single hotdog, bit into it, and it was WHITE. NO FLAVOR. I had to spit it out.
I grew up eating meaty, spicy sausages in the states, I felt offended they called that thing a hotdog.
Korean hotdogs in the states at least used American hotdogs so they taste better. But I hate how they put so much sugar as a topping. I always ask for no sugar and they stare at me weirdly. It's a savory food, let me eat the salt!

I felt alienated when I first saw it in an anime that they ate raw hot dog straight out of a wrapper. I was first disgusted since it's a bit cold and they taste like luncheon and they're not cooked. But seeing it portrayed in an anime made me go along with it and learned that you can eat those kinds of foods without cooking them, so they're safe. It still taste processed af but I kinda like the fishy flavour.

I thought it will be Connor traveling to different universe that involve budget cosplays, visiting different bars, or crane games.
Dissatisfaction with the canon story can certainly be a reason for reading fanfiction. My main reason though is that I get _very_ invested in some of these worlds that authors create. The only two stories that I read fanfics for are Harry Potter and A Song of Ice and Fire, and that's because of how much potential there are in those worlds. Its interesting to read people's takes on Harry being sorted into Slytherin, or Jon Snow not joining the Night's Watch, and having them interact with characters they never met in the canon story, for example. Its also interesting reading a world in which Harry isn't the boy who lived, or Rhaegar won the rebellion, so that we can see how completely different things could be.
God knows Power Rangers Megaforce is a perfect example of "fans being so frustrated with the official content, they made their own version"
I was exactly like this with Gate. The anime actually managed to downplay a lot of the issues with the canon story, and thankfully ended before the problems got worse, because when you read the manga and novels... It's... Bad...

I'm with Connor on the meat thing. I feel so much better after eating meat rather than carbs like rice n noodles. I have never once in 50 years gotten sweats from eating meat. However, I do fall asleep after eating carbs. Like knocked out, cannot wake up if I try. Different genetics guys.

That first take is crazy hahaha! American Korean BBQ is like a $60 bill. In Korea I ate the same stuff maybe less quality but for $20 for two people. That price alone makes a big difference.

I can totally relate to Connor eating Pringles in Korea, because literally everything I ate in Korea (including all the savory dishes) was sweet. I NEVER eat crisps or Pringles, but I was so desperate for something truly savory that I ended up snacking on a Korean brand sour cream and onion crisps (the only truly salty one I could find). All the food being sweet was probably the thing that most surprised me in Korea. That's not to say I didn't enjoy my stay. Korea is truly one of the most gorgeous and fun places I ever had the pleasure to visit. Will be back again someday.

honestly i feel like most of fanfic reader really don't read it because they're dissatisfied with the ending, i think they mostly enjoy it mainly because they want to see specific characters in specific situation that won't happen in the original materials. That's why there's so many kinds of fanfic ranging from making different endings, shipping two characters, even character studies. it's like doujins y'know, you get in expecting horny (sometimes) and you get out getting something surprisingly good
I see fanfics as a game board. Every knows the rules, the playing board, the pieces, etc. So you just want to see the game play out in different ways. Seeing factions that never fought, fight, new unintended interactions, certain mechanics in the system being exploited. Even self inserts are essentially an author trying to play the game themselves.

Is weird because here in Mexico at least in my cit we have a lot of Koreans that moved because of Kia/Hyuandai, and no one that i know wants to return to South Korea because of how stressful is to live there based on the societal spectations in Korea, they like how friendly and easy ging the society and culture is here and they find the lack of big societal spectations liberating, which in contrast here in Mexico a lot of people wants to movr eto Korea because the high standards of living they have there so this is a case of "the grass is always greener on the other side"

@@shyguy5473 Mostly yes, the touristy areas are safe for travel most if you are a foreigner, even some non touristy areas are safe, but there are places that you should never go, like Tamaulipas, Michoacan Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, in reality is just have common sense and don;t go to paces the loals tell you to don't go, also keep your country Embassy number if something happens to you,even if it wasn't a crime, unless you are in places like Monterrey, Cancun, Acapulce or in the rich places of Mexico city almost no one speaks english, so communicating would be hard, if you lost something like your passport or ID.

I haven't read it personally but I heard that there is Sasuke/Naruto fanfiction that got so popular that Japan released a drama CD of it. Of course, they couldn't market it as Naruto property, but it has the show's voice actors. The cover art looks unmistakably like Sasuke and Naruto too.

I like fanfics that expand on the source materials. While probably most fanfics are alternative routes or shipping storys there are those wich take place in the world without disrupting the canon. For example there's one I really enjoy that takes place between the second and thrid Eva movie about Asuka and Mari wich helps to understand their relationship more in my opinion. It's also really cool to see someone else besides the author being so familiar these characters to the point as if they were the actual writer. Its like how you can create something but dont have to be the best with it just cause its your creation.
The chat about gaming together with friends reignited some hardcore nostalgia...memories I haven't thought about in a long time. It was great to be young.
I feel for Connor. In Korea, EVERYTHING is smothered in sugar (and/or cheese). I'm the same way - miss me with that sheet. I love the spicy, and the fermented, and yes, even the cheese upon occasion, but the SWEET, holy crap. You can't avoid it. Korean food is actually better in the US, because the sugar is actually TONED DOWN. Normally, everything in the US is bizarrely sweet compared to the original. Not with Korean food. To the fanfic convo Fanfition is not only about wanting to read a different ending it’s also about really liking a the world, the characters and imagining how they would interact/act in different situations
In the FGC, during one year of the Tekken World Tour, one of the Top 8 finalists was a dad who started playing Tekken 7 the same year he competed. IIRC he managed to get 5th place IN THE WORLD. He was balancing a job, being a husband & father while practicing everyday in his spare time for a year and made it to the top.
Retake is a seriously fantastic doujin, Garnt is spitting.
Since Connor probably didn't know, they are still making original things for Avatar and not just suddenly doing live-action. I believe they're even planning on finishing the last book of the Avatar, so us fans are eating good.

I hate to complain but, I mostly have been listening to Trash Taste on Spotify and I hadn't even realized they had new merchandise that came out till I listen to this podcast episode the next day at work when at the end of the episode they said they had merch. I'm not sure if they've been promoting it in other episodes on RUclips but. 1:36:46 He's absolutely right. Reading is one of the best things EVER. I swear I cannot go back to watching anime/manga for more than 3 episodes. You may not believe me but often times it's faster to read the story than to watch it.
If you wanna make the transition just watch an anime/read a manga until there's no longer more and you HAVE to read the novel to know more. It's the most optimal way in my opinion. Your imagination doesn't have to do all the heavy lifting (you remember how the characters/scenes look) and you already have a motivation to read (you like it already).
I still struggle to read things with no anime/manga but if it's in the top 1000 rated novels I already know it's gonna be fun.
I live in Korea now, and the air quality alone means no. I miss dependably transparent air that doesn't feel like sandpaper on your throat.

Korean BBQ is such a weird situation to me. My parents in Korea eat red meat sparingly throughout the week. It's expensive and sadly mid most of the time (I will say, good Hanwoo beef is INSANE). The country is so mountainous compared to the States, we don't raise as many per square feet. If we're drinking and grilling something, my uncles would almost always get gopchang or cheaper cuts.
Now, in the States, that's K BBQ pushed to its full potential. So many different cuts and at an affordable range. Like, we have LA Galbi as a marinated meat dish that got popular enough to be a staple!
So strange, that you really can't have LvL 100 Korean BBQ made for the masses...in Korea.
It is not that strange about having top tier BBQ for the masses with the price of Beef in Korea.
I lived there for year. And was north of Seol. The whole dang country is nothing but mountains. That is not good ground for cattle. Thus most of it is imported which means higher priced meet.
it can be reasoned that since BBQ is rare in Korea, they try to make it as delicious as possible for every meal

It would just have been better to not split it and have a super big hiatus then get the entire final season in one go. That way people don't lose interest by the climax being split between weird specials months apart.

I worked in a famous stadium here in Canada. The reason we were given for not allowing bottled/canned beer was because of security issues. The bottles/cans could be used as weapons, it was for public safety. Especially during the "battle of Alberta" hockey games.
Dude, Imagine what kind of hell the Dandadan animators will get in to. There are a lot of crazy spectacles on the manga. I wouldn't even be disappointed if they use a lot of CG because the stuff that are about to happen in that series is crazy.
for the Avatar: The Last Airbender, the original creators did want to make it, but ultimately leave due to something, i forgot what it was but maybe due to creative differences. what I know is that what we'll see might be not what the original creators wanted.
