    I’ve owned my domino for a few years and machined a few thousand mortises at this point and I never realized that the base is machined as a reference point for the center line of the bit! Thank you for pointing out that feature it’s going to save me a lot of time measuring and guessing in the future.

    Keep up the Festool videos, I bought my first back in the early 2000, before the sustainer was modified with the center handle. These tools have taken a average woodworker up several notches, now all my cabinets are built exclusively with Festools

    Thanks for the vid. Taking the plate off the motor to set centre line on the rails is a great tip. Seems obvious after you showed it but I’ve never done it that way. Good content as always.

    Whenever I’ve made mistakes with my domino, it’s been not following layout or not being consistent with reference points.

    Great video as always guys. I am going to throw a curve at you… or rather an angle. I am going to build some functional exterior angled shutters. Any suggestions on how to get a consistent spacing and a consistent angle? Spacing really shouldn’t be a problem, that’s just consistent layout… Any thoughts on getting a consistent angle? Thanks for your time. Have a great week.

      Hi guys. I’ve been thinking about this since I left the comment. I was thinking the WoodPeckers Domino Mortiser demonstrated would work? I might have another possibility… FastCap has a Domino rail plate that attaches to the Festool guide rail. I could use the new Festool Angle Stop set to the angle I need.
      Another possibility is I also have access to a friends sliding mortiser… I was thinking I could set the mortiser chisel bit to the angle I need and slide the board over as needed…
      If you or anyone else has any thoughts I would appreciate it. Thanks for your time…

      Another possibility is the WoodPeckers Morty. I think that might be the best option.

    Always interesting to view your video's. But in my application, I'm creating a small toddler chair. I want too drill the mortises vertically in the standing legs (40x40mm) just 4 mm from the top for the apron's. I could be comparable with your workpiece when the horizontal pieces are tilted 90 degree. So you have to drill a mortise for the domino in the smallest part of the leg. How would you do that?

    Very helpful! By chance (and luck) I just tried layout on a project with the plate off and it worked great. Is there any hack for for making "thru" mortises? I was going to make some drawers recently and use dominos as accents on the butt joints where the sides overlap the fronts and backs. I couldn't find a way to make the mortises deep enough in one cut after the drawers were tacked/clamped together. Suggestions?? Keep the great videos comin'!

    • @sedgetool
      @sedgetool  10 месяцев назад

      If you set your domino depth at 28 mm the 5x30 domino should go in flush..the 5x30 domino is actually 28mm long...

    I am building, in place, oak book shelves from lumber I have harvested and dimensioned from my own land. They will be 12" deep and 8' tall. They must be built in place because of the size and will cover 2 walls in the room. My question is this: How do I use my domino to correctly cut mortises identically for each vertical shelf board? I own the two Festool LR32 track with the adapter for a Domino tool. Do you think this would allow for precision or is there a better way?
