Ants, you are a god send. I have been so incredibly frustrated with this program, but no longer! Your videos are binge worthy thank you so so much for putting them together.
Best tutorial on affinity ever. Iam a complet beginner and a total dead head when it comes to computers. I got affinity because I love photography and understand that editing is a big part of its process. Most tutorials on youtube about affinity gives you the feeling they dont really want you to understand or they think you know exactly what they are speaking about wish I dont. So this tutorial very slow very clear explaining every tool is like wow I cant thank you enough. Iam going to watch no 1 and watch every single one of your series. Tone of voice is calm relaxing explanation is straight forward and not jumping around or trying to explain 3 various ways of doing one task all at ones. I was kind of getting desperate but because of my love of photography I said common try again and now I have hope. Thank you.
As a newcomer to affinity photo this was soooooo helpful. Your laid back way of talking and clear explanation step by step was perfect. Subcribed and checking out all your tutorials 👍👍
Thank you. It's great to hear your thought processes rather than just a description of what various things do. Following your process really surprised me how much detail the raw file contained that I couldn't originally see.
This has been so helpful. Very easy to follow and I especially appreciate the demystification of the histogram. So many tutorials suggest adjusting "until it looks good" and I often am like, "huh?" I will definitely check out the other parts of this series. Thank you!
Fantastic piece of software only just purchased as I'm ditching photoshop elements and Lightroom. Your presentation of Affinity is incredibly informative and very well presented 10 out of 10
I will be selling the RAW files I use in this series for a nominal fee -- check back -- I hope to have them available soon. In this video series, I'll be demonstrating all of the features of, and how to use, Affinity Photo. In this episode, I process a RAW image in the Develop Persona. I can’t believe that you know how to use so many pieces of software! And, you’re a fantastic instructor. I’m trying to take some notes which makes me wish you’d write a book! Between the two, I think I could do great things! 😉
Thank you! I did my first wedding shoot today of my sister and my new brother-in-law. It was a sunrise shoot at the beach and I thought that I had totally bombed the sunrise shots. But after working through just the first photo along with this video I am pleasantly pleased. And since I had already purchased Affinity Photo last year I have no need for that overpriced Lightroom. Thanks again!!!
Hi Anthony, At last!! Have been waiting so long for you to start a course on Affinity photo. Really looking forward to it! Thanks again, I know its going to be a great series of videos. Mike
Hi, as a beginner to photography and editing, I need to be able to save my edits, and come back to them later and mess around repeatedly till I get it right, maybe. But, unless I am mistaken, the Develop Personal doesn't allow for this as you can't save from the there, but, rather, have to bounce it to the Photo Persona; and from there on, the photo will sit there never to return to the Develop Persona. Could you suggest a workaround? Or maybe I've missed something. Thanks!
Hi, if you save the RAW file and not export it, the next time you open it the changes you made in the develop persona will still be there. The RAW file will be saved an extension of .afphoto. See if that helps.
Hi Anthony ! I want to know what you did to make the RAW photo appears with normal colours and exposure in the Develop Persona without touching any setting. When I load a RAW photo on Affinity, it appears very dark and desatured. So I need to increase the exposure and the saturation, what creates a lot of noise...
Hubert Boudreau people are begging for an Affinity DAM (digital asset manager). Photos on the Apple side and Lightroom are readily available but beyond that, things get more complicated or more kludgy. Aperture was great on the Mac; rumor has it Photos may have an improved DAM functionality with the next Mac OS update (Catalina).
I forgot to add that Nik Software simply does not work as a plug-in too. I tried to open in Viveza (my favourite module of all time) and all I get is a completely washed out picture, even though the Loupe image is fine. It is impossible to make any edits or fine tuning as I cannot see the effects at all. Also, when I have completed my edits in Viveza and open it in Affinity, all the edits are lost! Complete waste of time.
I just installed my NIK free version and it worked perfectly. When you install it you have to go back into preferences and check "allow unknown plugins to be used" at the bottom for Viveza to work
Hi, Biggest let down with AP is the lack of third party plugins for Windows OS that will work, yes Topaz seem to work. There is a list www.miguelboto.com/affinity/photo/plugins-support/win/ but for some reason the developers are more interested in getting all there other software out for sale rather than working for AP users, if you ask about 3rd party plug-ins on the forum it's always don't no, they combined with X-Rite a while ago to offer the software along with the Colourchecker Passport but when asked about making users own camera calbrations forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/20795-color-correction-with-x-rite-colorchecker-passport/&tab=comments#comment-312647 still we wait!!! Russ.
I'm presently using Affinity Photo on a 10-day trail. I must say I am totally under-whelmed by it. My raw files open in Develop Persona completely flat and the histogram is skewed way to the left. Even if I develop it and open in Photo Persona, it is difficult to use and some of the Live Filter layers do not seem to work or work erratically on my Windows PC. It is simply to under developed (as at December 2018) to be of much use to me. My Olympus and Panasonic raw files simply cannot be opened and edited in Develop Persona at all. Truly disappointed.

Love your “Mastering Affinity…“ vIdeos. Not only are you teaching me about the program, you’re teaching me photo editing!
Many thanks.
As a newcomer to affinity photo this was soooooo helpful. Your laid back way of talking and clear explanation step by step was perfect.
Subcribed and checking out all your tutorials 👍👍
One of the best videos I have seen on Affinity and how to get started. Thanks

Great walk through. Thanks. Big take away for me was the section on sharpening. Great tips throughout. Cheers!
Thanks
Thank you Peter!

Literally the best video I've seen on this topic by far - thank you!
That was so good. You even managed to teach something to a dummy like me. Well done.
is there a way to save these develop persona steps as you would in a macro on the photo persona?
Awesome examples and practical application love it!! More success to you!
Thanks a lot. Do you actually hit the develop button to the left of the camera settings above the image after you're done or just save?
Can you use colour checker passport with Affinity thanks Bill
Hi Anthony, At last!! Have been waiting so long for you to start a course on Affinity photo. Really looking forward to it! Thanks again, I know its going to be a great series of videos. Mike
on the Histogram what is the white curve as I don't have that on mine?
Thank you. This is very helpful! I’ve had Affinity Photo for awhile now, but haven’t done much with it.

@@kevinlewis9098 Will try that thanks.
So, adjusting your exposure, Contrast and muddling with the enhancements in the studio, you are basically DE-structing the Raw file?
Thanks for another very good video. FYI. Affinity 1.9 DOES now tell you which lens profile is used.
What an excellent video! Very clear and understandable. Thank you!
very helpful, looking forward to more of your Affinity Photo tutorials.
Thanks, excellent tutorial!
The latest Affinity Photo release does tell you what lens correction is applied.

Thank you sir for such a good explanation
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you.
you naturally so clear
Thank you much. A very good tutorial.
I love all of your you videos.
Great videos....the best for affinity....thank you
I am thinking of dumping Adobe Lightroom?
Hi again, as a total newb, you did before and after, but I didnt see how you did it, can anyone help me? Doubt Anthony is monitoring after 3 yrs :)
Hi Anthony. Can i make instructional ebooks from you youtube videos - also for my business English students?
If you're doing it for free and you and nobody else are profiting from it. Yes.
@@AnthonyMorganti I bet he made $....good videos, ty
Will these type of adjustments work on JPEG?
Yes
Nice explanation. Almost everybody else focuses on Photoshop. I have Affinity but still find myself locked into what I'm used to ... PS !
Look to the right of the Develop button & you will see the Camera & lens profile being used
Does Affinity Photo have a database?

That's too bad. I shoot Canon and process on a Mac and it works brilliantly.
Subbed.
Is this Mr. Roger's son..?
I'd give you 10 thumbs up if i had them, but I only have 2 ...and can only give 1 here. :(
BUT, thanks so much. :)
I'm not interested in what "a lot of people" want, or all the side chatter. Stick to the tutorial.
Damn, chill homie
Very repetitive, loves the sound of his own voice. Continuous references to photoshop - very irritating if you don't know photoshop.
