So true. Why can legless QBs not get a second look but armless QBs are all over the place? Do people really think it’s better to hold the ball in your mouth than flop around on the ground? It’s offensive and sad.
Analysis two levels deeper than I have found anywhere else. I feel like eventually someone was going to productize deep, contextual, eloquent sports analysis and you are taking the lead on it. The hard work you are putting into these segments is the differentiating factor. Keep it up!
The real story is obviously the greatness of Mike Evans. He’s a superstar in the NFL (from day one) and Manziel fizzled out, that alone shows you what was actually happening at Texas A&M.
I would really love to see a Carr breakdown. He’s a hot question currently as in “what is he really”? Seems bizarre after all these seasons, but the Raiders didn’t exactly made it easy for him.
Agreed. Its like I think he's average at best but then I think about him losing his OC and QBC after his great season and I think about the fact he's had a bottom 5 defense forever and I get confused on how I feel lol.
Corey and his no interception streak of 325 passes last season (only Brady and Rodgers are in front of him all time) showed GREAT decision making. Mind you; while throwing to the corpse of Jordy Nelson, Jared Cook and a couple of store clerks. There’s context to every INT. Especially the beginning of this season. It was obvious he was still learning Gruden’s version of the WCO.
Kevin Sumlin owes half his career earnings to Johnny Manziel and Case Keenum. He got the most prolific NCAA passer in history and then first freshman Heisman winner without recruiting either one of them.
I love how you tell his story with passion and conviction. You did a great job, I now have a different on Johnny and his ability. The NFL is full of stories about great college superstars that failed to make it in the league. The one thing that separates great college players and great pro athletes is the NFL exposes weakness in every player. Some players have too many to overcome.. love your blog
Without Mike Evans Manzel would not have been nearly as good in college. It absolutely killed me as a Bama fan watching Evans catch jump ball after jump ball.
Besides Tom Brady mostly every good Qb has a great receiver can’t blame him for exploiting the greatness of mike Evans and they complemented each other wasn’t one sided
I swear I thought I was the only one in America that thought of this. In that bama game he was throwing it in triple or double coverage and Mike Evans came down with the ball. I couldn't believe everyone on espn was slurping this guy
Yeah I kinda of asked the same question. If professional analyst watched his film then what did they see in him? Why was he drafted in the first place?

Great stuff man. You're not one of those guys who solely lists off stats, and you're not one of those guys who shares his opinions with no evidence to back it up, or solely tells stories. You're right there where you need to be, engaging enough to keep me listening, while also using enough research and information to back your points up that I actually feel like I've come away learning something from the video. P.S. Your analysis of Johnny totally reminds me of all those times in Flag Football when you would have the showboat kid pretending he couldn't find an open reciever, and scrambling back and forth while everyone is open until he tries to make a break away and get a first down! I absolutely hated those kids.
I listened to this whole podcast but wanted to come back and listen to the Johnny football segment because of how interesting it was. Good job man, keep up the good work.
The depth of your analysis was amazing especially from someone so young. Often times the truth hurts, but it wouldn't surprise me if Johnny Manziel admitted, after a little soul searching, that you summarized his football career perfectly.
This is SO spot on. HUGE difference in a QB that can run and a Running QB. Manziel never had a good eye, not a strong or accurate arm. Look at film and you will never see him thread the needle. And when he would try, never made it. Overhype for sure and fell victim to his own overhype.
My favourite breakdown of a QB that you've done so far 👏🏻 it seems as though the longer and more comprehensive the analysis, the better! Can't even imagine how long the research took for this episode - great job, Zac! 🆘
As an A&M student, and a long time A&M fan, I also have a lot of great memories of watching Johnny play. A lot of people forget how magical the guy was with the football in his hands. In my opinion the most entertaining college QB of all time. This is a great video though, thanks for sharing. I think you are 100% right about this stuff

I have a Tebow Theory. First off, let's give him props. Team was like a disaster over the time he was Drafted to the time he finally Started, and he goes something like 8-4 and 1-1 in the Play Offs. And this was the year BEFORE Denver had a great Defense, statistically they were an Average Defense for Tebow. Kid Won ugly. People want to point to the Pats cutting him. Of course they do. Tim Tebow simply isn't accurate enough to Win with a Precision Offense. What he needs, is ugly. What he needs is a (at that time) Jax, Cleveland, Oakland... and yes, at that time Denver qualified. He needs a scrappy defense that isn't going to just lay down, because it's got to stay close. And he needs a Running Game, and he's going to help out a lot there. If you are a Bad Team, and you can't win with a Traditional Offense... you have 2 Choices. Beat your head against the wall, pray you get a QB in the Draft that allows you to run said 'Traditional Offense'. Or... get a Tebow and say to hell with Traditional. Break out Wild Cats. Break out EVERYTHING. And have a gritty, gutty QB that can Run, that can Lead, and that can sling it deep to a prayer when things break down. Tebow checks all three boxes. As soon as Denver decided to up the ante on Traditional, some one like Jax or Cleveland should have said "We suck doing it this way... let's try something DIFFERENT" and signed the man. He's an NFL WINNER, with a good PTD:INT Ratio and a great TD:TO Ratio. He scores points and doesn't give the ball to the bad guys. But he can't operate an Offense that requires 60% Completion (or even 55%), because he just isn't accurate enough... and that's EVERY NFL OFFENSE now. So you have to buck that system for Tebow to really work long-term. Some one should have tried. Instead they kept saying "We suck at this Traditional Offense thing, and you aren't very accurate... so how about we force you to execute an offense where you need to be very accurate and where we've failed with every QB we've had at making it work! Great plan!"
@@theclimbto1 Dude, I have to be honest, I only watched a handful of Tebow's games but, almost every time I watched him, he had horrendous mechanics!!! Option and wildcat offenses are his forte, unfortunately, NFL teams rarely run those!!!
U know the scary thought is the difference between Johnny and Tom. Fundamentals vs athlete. College couldn't tell the difference or scouts. 7th round Brady possibly greatest ever and Johnny an updated Ryan Leaf. Is coaching really that good in football or is it a lot of repeats of that Patriots vs Colts fake punt fiasco.

@@PoopyDoopy39 I'm talking about as far as how reads, coverages, style of plays and schemes go. I know how the game is played but not in depth as I do with basketball.
This is a great video, highlighted so many things that not many people have before. It truly is sad to see how football turned this guys life upside down... should've just been given an MTV show because everyone only cared about his personality
@@producedbykhireyakeem4340 His two Pro Bowls were complete bullshit. 12-13 and 10-7 were his TD-INT stat lines for his two "Pro Bowl" seasons. He was an extremely limited QB who couldn't read defenses and had an overly simplified play book.
Excellent analysis. JM is just a very visible example of this "problem" - many, too many very talented athletes in HS and College didn't get the chance to see their own full potential just because at the time they were "great" there was no one around them with authority to show them their flaws and opportunities. I've seen it, first hand, in a couple cases. It makes you wonder, every time you think about it, "what could've happened if...". In a way, they never learned the game. Great video, once again.
Manziel could only thrive in chaos. Watch all of his best plays. Scrambling, broken plays, escaping pressure. NFL resurrection to play on schedule and that wasn't his game at all. Never was gonna make it
Not only NFL, even CFL. CFL have less heavy hitters, but all of defensive backs are agile, very fast, Johnny can't run it out, and Montreal's o line just a piece of shit.
Awesome work Zac, completely agree with your analysis. I don't watch a lot of college football regular season (lack of parity) however I remember watching Manziel film before the draft that year, and my biggest take away back then was.... Whoa, who the hell is this #13?
Outstanding analysis....as an old H.S. QB myself I was shocked that J.F. was so highly rated going into the NFL draft. At the time I said if I was an NFL G.M. I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole. Regarding his running ability, I did read an NFL scouting report that said his hamstrings were elite athlete level...so he definitely had some elite athleticism which in itself ain't going to be enough in the Sunday league to play QB at a consistent high level.
I'm from Texas and I've made this same statement to a lot of Texas A&M die hards. A lot of his fans don't accept the fact that he's a running QB, I'm a fan of Lamar Jackson, so I know the feeling of loving a running QB. Johnny Football never worked on anything to make him a better pocket QB, let alone stay out of trouble long enough to get the NFL QB coaching he needed.
@To Release is To Resolve true, but the Ravens cut 60% of the playbook the week he started. They are also the blame for wanting him to run so much. He's a good QB when given a chance.
Nice to see a new video, watched Manziel start to get the Memphis Express offense going. Then he got hurt, and the league folded. Would have liked to see what he could've done in the AAF.
It was INCREDIBLY apparent he would be a bust due to his playing style and habits. I appreciate you breaking down his film. I still can’t believe an NFL team picked him in the first round

die hard browns fan and I was so pissed when we drafted manziel AKA Jonny Fuckboi. I hated him in college for his personality but I also thought he wasn't good. everything said in this video is what I have been saying for years. his entire "game" was running around in circles and then just chucking the ball downfield for mike evens to go up and grab. anyone who thought that was going to continue to work in the NFL should never analyze a football player ever again. I was even more pissed when the browns (for once in forever) were actually doing good in the 2014 season, Brian Hoyer was playing pretty damn good (especially compared to the trash we were used to seeing at QB) and had us with a 7-4 WINNING record!!! he beat the steelers 31-10. hoyer had two bad games in a row (he was essentially a rookie as a starting QB | also I thoroughly believe some of the reason he was having struggles was because he knew management was leaning on the coaching staff to put their new investment in the game and the dumb ass fans were clamoring to see their boy johnny get in the game) so they fucking benched him for manziel and we proceeded to not win a game the rest of the season finishing 7-9. fuck johhny fuckboi manziel.
Sometimes as Browns fans we're our own worst enemy. Reminds me of the Derek Anderson/Brady Quinn controversy. Fans just couldn't leave well enough alone (10-6 record in '07) and demanded changes be made at the first sign of struggle in '08 after drafting Brady. And so we got a QB benched in favor of a bust draft pick whose career was worse than the guy he replaced*. Hoyer should've kept the starting job. His record that year alone was better than what Manziel's entire career ended up being. * I'm not hating on Brady Quinn, just the fans and management that have their heads up their ass.

Keep it up!
Agreed, well said(by both him and you =]).
The real story is obviously the greatness of Mike Evans. He’s a superstar in the NFL (from day one) and Manziel fizzled out, that alone shows you what was actually happening at Texas A&M.
Ryan Swope, too. Signed by the Cardinals, but had "concussion issues."
“He wouldn’t have succeeded without his legs”

I would really love to see a Carr breakdown. He’s a hot question currently as in “what is he really”? Seems bizarre after all these seasons, but the Raiders didn’t exactly made it easy for him.
Agreed. Its like I think he's average at best but then I think about him losing his OC and QBC after his great season and I think about the fact he's had a bottom 5 defense forever and I get confused on how I feel lol.
Yeah I want to see this too
He trash
Ewww
Corey and his no interception streak of 325 passes last season (only Brady and Rodgers are in front of him all time) showed GREAT decision making. Mind you; while throwing to the corpse of Jordy Nelson, Jared Cook and a couple of store clerks. There’s context to every INT. Especially the beginning of this season. It was obvious he was still learning Gruden’s version of the WCO.
Wow, im speechless. This is one hell of a breakdown.
Dude your content is incredibly underrated, hope you get the pop you deserve. Loving the videos!
Jay so gronk and Edelman arnt good receivers
I swear I thought I was the only one in America that thought of this. In that bama game he was throwing it in triple or double coverage and Mike Evans came down with the ball.
I couldn't believe everyone on espn was slurping this guy
@@BigDilf3 that was a dumb statement.

Spot on. Cleveland should have called you first before the pick.
Yeah I kinda of asked the same question. If professional analyst watched his film then what did they see in him? Why was he drafted in the first place?
Its easy to see in hindsight, but at the time, he looked like an amazing athlete who could extend plays.
he was like 16 when Manziel was drafted
Seriously better than the rest of these Televised scouts/analyst. You deserve some serious Air time my friend. Never stop with the informative content, this is your true profession. Salute
4 years later, still come back to this. It’s like ASMR. The way Zac explains things, a 7 yr old can understand. He should be one of the biggest analysts in football, not just RUclips. He’s better than any of those clowns breaking down QBs on ESPN.
Knowing he was drunk in that Duke game makes sense now. Maybe all the big games
this is an incredibly well put together video. phenomenal. I haven't heard anyone else explain Manziel like this.
Could you add Stats as a graphic as you list them off? Love the channel!!!
The Amount of effort that went into this is crazy good job
spidys thank you👊🏻✊🏻
Great stuff man.
Jerry Jones: I want this guy.
Management: We're going with Zack Martin
Cleveland doesn’t analyze talent, they draft off feeling & hype also the $ they can bring to the organization. I’m a browns fan btw
Wrong. They have the Moneyball genius guy as GM.

To be as young as you are and have the ability to analyze film like you do is a very special gift bro. Keep it up...you got a sub from our shop!
Alexander Screen Printing Inc thank you!😃👊🏻
This is by far your best analysis Ive seen. Ive never heard anyone breakdown Johnny's career this way and I agree 100% with you.
He also was throwing to a straight up beast in Mike Evans.
Mike Evans won Johnny Football the Heisman.
You deserve to have a show on national television because you would wake a lot of people up about hype
My favourite breakdown of a QB that you've done so far 👏🏻 it seems as though the longer and more comprehensive the analysis, the better! Can't even imagine how long the research took for this episode - great job, Zac! 🆘
Seb Kennedy many hours when into this, I appreciate comment 😃👊🏻
Strong Opinion Sports your hard work doesn’t go unnoticed - keep it up!👏
As an A&M student, and a long time A&M fan, I also have a lot of great memories of watching Johnny play. A lot of people forget how magical the guy was with the football in his hands. In my opinion the most entertaining college QB of all time. This is a great video though, thanks for sharing. I think you are 100% right about this stuff

1st SOS video I've seen. I like how you explained Manziel's good and poor qualities.
Bruh this was great. Like you need Vice level production. This content is legendary
Michael Carter Nah Vice would probably make it entirely about Kaepernick and none of the footage or content would be about football but BLM or some other politically polarizing shit
I can't usually watch a long podcast, but you made it interesting and kept me engaged. Keep it up!
TheAqui2000 this is a 22 min video a long podcast is 1-2 hours
I would've thought the CFL would've been 'tailer made' for Manziel? Pass happy league, extra wide field....It's where Doug Floutie thrived.
Same goes for Tim Tebow. He could have been a star up here.
watching johnny in college made me so hyped to see him in the nfl, now he comes into my work, it really is sad to see how once you mess up how far you could drop
I subscribed purely for your energy and enthusiasm for the game. Outstanding work.
Johnny Football could easily hypnotize people with that flashy "show me the money" move.
Id pay money for you doing a tebow Analysis
TheClimbTo1 I didn’t read it but I liked your comment cause it looks like you put a lot of thought into it
@@theclimbto1 100% agreed. Great analysis
Tebow was forced out the NFL
@@theclimbto1 Dude, I have to be honest, I only watched a handful of Tebow's games but, almost every time I watched him, he had horrendous mechanics!!!
Option and wildcat offenses are his forte, unfortunately, NFL teams rarely run those!!!
Watched fifty seconds and subscribed.
Just think, Tom freaking Brady is going to have Mike Evans now. That’s a scary thought
hopefully that line of his can hold long enough for him
U know the scary thought is the difference between Johnny and Tom. Fundamentals vs athlete. College couldn't tell the difference or scouts. 7th round Brady possibly greatest ever and Johnny an updated Ryan Leaf. Is coaching really that good in football or is it a lot of repeats of that Patriots vs Colts fake punt fiasco.

It shouldn’t take you 6 years to learn the game of football but good luck lol

100% correct assessment. So many run first college QB's have failed in the NFL. "Hold my beer" Vince Young
Wtf are you talking about? Vince Young was a 2 time pro bowler man. Stop that bullshit
GTFO if you think Young "failed" lmao
Hari Avula yuge facts it blows my mind Jeff Fisher was a coach as long as he was
Hari Avula if Vince young went to the Texans Gary could have done something special with him
@@producedbykhireyakeem4340
His two Pro Bowls were complete bullshit. 12-13 and 10-7 were his TD-INT stat lines for his two "Pro Bowl" seasons. He was an extremely limited QB who couldn't read defenses and had an overly simplified play book.
Man, you're actually legendary. I really hope you make it big, you always do a hell of a job
Joshua Jordan thank you!
You truly are the best analyst in sports.
This was so well done. I’m a huge Johnny Manziel fan and it was crazy to hear the other side that you provided. Good job man.
I definitely want to see a Tebow film breakdown.
Manziel's throws ,nowadays, have a longer hang time than most well punted footballs.
Manziel could only thrive in chaos. Watch all of his best plays. Scrambling, broken plays, escaping
pressure. NFL resurrection to play on schedule and that wasn't his game at all. Never was gonna make it
Not only NFL, even CFL. CFL have less heavy hitters, but all of defensive backs are agile, very fast, Johnny can't run it out, and Montreal's o line just a piece of shit.
Mike Evans also caught damn near everything too lol
posted may 24,2019 you were all over this, just a man ahead of his time
Awesome work Zac, completely agree with your analysis. I don't watch a lot of college football regular season (lack of parity) however I remember watching Manziel film before the draft that year, and my biggest take away back then was.... Whoa, who the hell is this #13?
really enjoyed this analysis man...keep up the great content! also, as a gator fan, i'd like to see a video like this on Tebow!
I’m so glad your channel popped up on my recommended, I now have a good channel to listen to while I’m studying or working🤙🏻🤙🏻
Jaime Torres Not just that. Lamar is a MUCH better athlete than Manziel. Manziel looks average on the NFL field, Lamar almost looks like a video game.
@To Release is To Resolve true, but the Ravens cut 60% of the playbook the week he started. They are also the blame for wanting him to run so much. He's a good QB when given a chance.
@@shanevadnais8336 I totally agree!!!

Keep up the amazing work!
I’ve been saying this for ever Johnny manziel COULDN’T THROW THE FOOTBALL.
die hard browns fan and I was so pissed when we drafted manziel AKA Jonny Fuckboi.
I was even more pissed when the browns (for once in forever) were actually doing good in the 2014 season, Brian Hoyer was playing pretty damn good (especially compared to the trash we were used to seeing at QB) and had us with a 7-4 WINNING record!!! he beat the steelers 31-10. hoyer had two bad games in a row
(he was essentially a rookie as a starting QB | also I thoroughly believe some of the reason he was having struggles was because he knew management was leaning on the coaching staff to put their new investment in the game and the dumb ass fans were clamoring to see their boy johnny get in the game)
so they fucking benched him for manziel and we proceeded to not win a game the rest of the season finishing 7-9. fuck johhny fuckboi manziel.
@@Akd71008 I wonder what would have happened if they never drafted Manziel..
