I have HUGE AMAZING news to share with everyone in this video which is that I got accepted into an Accelerated Nursing Program for the fall 2019 semester! I’m so excited and can’t wait to start, but in the meantime I wanted to talk in this video about my real, honest reasons for wanting to go back to school for a second bachelor’s degree in nursing. I hope you guys enjoy it and that it motivates you to chase your goals or apply to that school or ABSN program you’ve been wanting to get into. ♡

Your story is so inspirational, I’m so sorry for your loss it must have been a hard time for you. Your determination is very motivating for others. It’s awesome that you didn’t give up on getting what you want 💕
Your comment just made my entire day!! Thank you so much 🤗 I hope I can keep inspiring people with more videos on my channel💕
I’m thrilled ur videos popped up! Love the tips u share and motivational stories! ❤️😊
Just came across your channel, I'm super excited for your upcoming journey!! 😊
Thank you so much, Taylor! I love your channel and videos and have been following along 💕
Very inspiring for me. I have my BA in journalism. And I’m now going back to a CC to take my prerequisite and hopefully get into a nursing program as well. Writing and talking came easy to me and I was very opinionated. After a few times being termed from HR positions and not being very stable and feeling like a prisoner, I’m going back to make a difference and to enjoy the 3 shifts per week while spending time with my family, or working on a hobby the other 4 days.
I love it!! I feel this so much. I never hear of many people who have a journalism degree and go back for nursing so I love hearing stories like yours. Good luck with your journey and keep me posted ☺️
Thank you so much for posting this vid. You are so inspiring. I have a bachelor's in history and want to go back to school for nursing. I can't wait to do this nurse journey. :)
Aww thank you! And that's awesome, good luck on your journey :)
Omg I love this girl! I'm a bit older than you but age aside so much of what you said are my experiences and my views on this subject. I'm just at the beginning of my journey and still not sure if nursing will happen for me but I'm going to start with a prereq that I need and see how I feel about it.
Thank you for your video very helpful.
I am bit older as well, may be older than you as well, I hope that you have followed your heart. In my 40’s.
I have been stressing about applying to ABSN as I have absolutely no Science background. ( Social work degree). It was great to hear that its okay and you made it through your prerq's with A's! ( way to go) hope I do as well. You are truly Inspirational.
Caroline Prag My granddaughter who was a history major also had no sciences. She went to a community college for prerequites and applied to and was accepted into five nursing schools. She chose the shortest and halfway through has a 4.0. Actually, due to Covid19, she has most of course work done and will have 2 1/2 months of clinicals then spend last three weeks applying to a hospital and studying for NCLEX.
Congrats to her! I am sure there will be many amazing opportunities out there career wise. I am two prerqs in and will start third in a few weeks.I am excited but would prefer A & P II in the classroom in fall, but who knows.I just know that during this time of COVID, I feel even a stronger need to get out there and help people as a nurse. Our world needs more caretakers 🙂
Girl thank you so much for sharing your journey. I was wondering if you ever considered getting an associate degree from a community college vs the accelerated path? It seems like accelerated programs are so expensive. I was also curious how you figured out the financial part for being able to stop working and going back for your prerequisites. Thank you again for sharing I hope your classes are going great!
Great video. I'm a Journalism Grad. This is the 2nd career transition video I've seen with a Journalism Graduate. Okay God I hear you loud and clear.
Yes, that's great to hear!! I believe in signs, good luck with your decision 😊
SAME HERE!
Hey girl!!I totally identify with your career journey.I majored with a B.S in Marketing but I have become very interested in Nursing. You have a new subscriber😊
I’m waiting to hear if I got into their ABSN program at CSP! I am so excited and nervous!
Thalia can you please make a video how you studied for your pre reqs as well as which ones you took together. Just everything in general that has to do with pre reqs more in-depth. The videos on RUclips don’t have much info. I’m about to start my pre reqs and I’m afraid that’s going to take longer than one year bc I wouldn’t want for example taking micro bio with A&P. Would appreciate tremendously your help.
Yes, I will be making a video on this and let you know here in the comments as soon as I upload it!
Granddaughter is 11months through a 12 month ABSN program. Graduated Cum Laude History from TAM. Was just accepted Houston Methodist Nurse residency. Just saw $200.00 fee to take NCLEX on credit card. Getting real!
Congrats! This is very inspiring! I am trying to go down the same path and I am currently taking my pre-reqs. Did your school require volunteer hours for your application?
That's great! My school didn't require any volunteer hours and a lot of the accelerated programs I looked at didn't require it either. But it definitely can't hurt to do it and might even give you a leg up in clinical depending on where you volunteer!
Helpful video, thanks! I have my bachelors in communications (PR) and I'm thinking of an accelerated program.. I never took a lot of science courses though, obviously, but I'm not great in math..and that's what I'm afraid of lol, is there a ton of math in science??
Thanks for sharing this I really can relate to your hourney
Thank you for watching, so glad you were able to relate!
Hello!
When you spent a year taking your prerequisites, were you enrolled as a non-matriculated student or as a second degree student in the institution you were taking the prereqs ?
I’m also a journalism grad. I’m a TV news reporter right now but I’m looking into going back to school for nursing. I barely have the prerequisites since we didn’t need many science classes so I’d have to go get those done. Did you feel you were redoing school all over again or you actually enjoyed it more the second time around? I told myself I’d never go back but I really want a career change.
Congratulations on thinking of making the career change! I didn't exactly feel like I was redoing school all over agin because this time around the track was much shorter since I took my pre-requisites through the summer with no breaks and did the nursing program in 1 year. I enjoyed the creative aspect of journalism school the first time, but I felt more accomplished learning the tough subjects the second time and found new interests in what I was learning. The content was more difficult to understand because I didn't have a science background, but by the second semester of pre-reqs I felt like I caught on. Now I find that nursing school is even more interesting and enjoyable than pre-reqs.
Did you take your prerequisite classes at a community college?
Yes I did!
Did you need a work reference? and how did you go about it since no background in health?
Nope! I just used reccomendation letters from professors I had during pre reqs and sent them with my application. I applied to 3 programs and none of them required health care experience
Youngest granddaughter graduated TAM Cum Laude history did practice teaching twice and decided to be a nurse. Did all prerequires and was accepted into five nursing schools. She chose a 11 month 8 day ABSN course and is halfway through. She has a 4.0 GPA and today I paid for two NCLEX study guides. We’re making reservations now for 12/18/2020.
please, what program is she in? I am looking for ABSN programs to apply to. thank you:)
Iheoma Chieke University of Houston 2nd Degree nursing Program. Good luck!
Iheoma Chieke My granddaughter in the ABSN course Uni of Houston. My suggestion is to google “best nursing course” in your state. Each state ranks them. If you graduate from the best it is easier to get a better job.
@@multitieredinvestor5246 okay thank you so much:). I looked at the prereqs for Uni Houston and they require a lot of classes so I am going to look into another program
Iheoma Chieke That is the highest ranked nursing school in Texas. Hard to get in, but graduateds are insured of getting hired.
What made you choose between accelerated bsn from accelerated msn? I’m having a hard time choosing I graduated with a BA in sociology from UCLA and the place I’m living in only has accelerated msn not bsn but I’m not oppose to moving but I would have to do pre recs at community colleges and it’s so specific just to that school
I thought about doing accelerated MSN but ultimately what it came down to me was the price and location since the closest program to me was far from where I lived . For me it’s better to pay less for the BSN first and then start working for a few years to get money together for the MSN, but both are great options! I think it would just come down to personal preference at that point. Good luck!!
Is your school Mcphs? I searched it and your video always popped up.
What steps did you take to be able to afford your tuition😭 as a second degree I don’t get financial aid anymore and I’m trying to figure out how to pay for it
I didn't get financial aid either unfortunately 😩 after trying to apply for scholarships, I had to take out private loans. I would only recommend this as an absolute last resort, but I personally had exhausted all of my options and it was the best choice for me at the time. Now that I've graduated, I plan on making a series of my channel showing how I will be budgeting to pay off the loans.
oh my God! I'm currently taking up arts and communication right now, and am also planning to get nursing course as my bachelor's degree. I Have this fear that maybe I won't make it because it's too far from my course right now, plus I don't have a background info about nursing yet I still want to. 🥺
I say go for it if you feel like it's what you really want to do! Maybe try shadowing a nurse to get a feel for what it's like and definitely research online as much about the field as possible. But you can learn anything you put your mind to!
But how much absn program cost?
I am from Pakistan. I am graduate in commerce. Currently working in Dubai. Can u advise me some colleges who offer online Absn
What programs did you apply to and get into?
I applied to the ABSN program at New Jersey City University and the associate’s program at Muhlenberg School of Nursing in NJ, but wound up going to another ABSN program out of state 😊
@@ThaliaOrtiz Thank you. Do you know if you can still qualify for federal loans for the associates program?
I believe so! I think it would depend on the school and if any loans were taken out previously, but I recommend checking with the school’s financial aid office and they might have more info 😊
I’m starting in fall of 2019 too! What school are you attending???
Awesome! I might do a reveal on my channel about which one specifically once the program starts and I can talk more about it!
Did you get any financial aid? The tuition makes me wanna faint
