Wow that’s freakin incredible you pulled the steepest hill in 8th gear at not even 2000 Rpms at 1900 man that’s impressive for a V8 and not being a Inline 6 that just shows everyone how much more torque the new powerstroke has 1900 rpms towing uphill those are Cummins numbers right there great video 👍
Great video! Thanks for posting!! In reference to lugging, remember that 1050 lb/ft of torque is at 1650 rpms. I just picked up my 2020 dually a couple days ago, can't wait to pull the trackhoe with it!
Yeah, the whole not wanting it to lug thing is false. If you want an engine that stays up in rpm to tow then buy a gas truck. Otherwise you can't use the torque of the diesel. A matter of fact Cummins large truck engines (isx15) boast "luggability" down to 1100 rpm. The ability for a diesel engine to pull at lower rpms and lug is one of it's biggest advantages. lol
From experience, run the cord on the trailer under the tailgate. Just unlatch the gat and put there. We have had the cord rub on the paint and it aint nice.
Outstanding video. I just purchased a 2020 f350 lariat sport. I had a 2019 f250 lariat sport I traded in. I have only towed once with it when I sold my camper a month ago and delivered it to the guy, 10k lbs. Towed so effortless. Looking at fifth wheel toy haulers and can't wait to tow one.

Wow, they build a break in period into today's vehicles? I never knew that. All my stuff is older, you had to actually keep track of the mileage for break-in and had to physically limit yourself to not smashing that skinny pedal to the floor for the first several miles LOL
@@johndeerefarmer4483 The other question would WTF is a break in period for a transmission?? Is he suggesting shift points change with mileage?? I'm with you, I call BS.

The new trucks use electrically controlled vanes vs the hydraulic units in the old trucks. This allows the mapping to be more aggressive without worrying about lack of flow in cold climates. This is where the engine brake improvement comes from. The lugging is based on customer feedback, many people believe high RPM is bad for economy (technically true) and Ford would prefer people leave the system in drive for best overall performance (cruise control integration, cooling, economy). People also complained about the F-150 shifting too much on any incline. So they lug a bit in 10th, so people are less likely to force 10th in manual mode and tear their rod bearings up. Power is limited in 10th to prevent transmission damage, as such there is no inherent damage occurring in D in the engine either. For those interested torque is limited in gears 1,2,3 for SRW 6.7 trucks and only 1st for DRW trucks.
KoolCordell Hey that’s great info man. I guess I was wondering if there is a way they can change the software that it will use 10th less once you unable tow haul. I know I can do that myself with the gear selector and it is what I will be doing in the future. Even in 9th at 65mph the RPM is only like 1600 and that is where the peak torque is.

This is really helpful information. I am in the process of upgrading from a 2013 F350 CC SRW Long Bed to a 2022 F350 CC DRW Long Bed for hauling my fifth wheel RV which weighs about 15,000 pounds with a pin weight that is about 3,500 pounds. I had been debating between the 3.55 and 4.10 gears (3.73 not available). I prefer the 3.55 for daily driving and less engine noise but wasn't sure if I would regret not going with 4.10 gears. But, your video seems to prove out to me that the 3.55 gears and 10 speed transmission combination should be more than sufficient for my needs.
I have a 2005 f250 with a 140000 miles. No clue what you are talking about most of the time but I love it somehow anyway. I also drive like a grandma so cool to see what it can do. Always fear being one of those bad day videos. I am 60 and not in a hurry to get anywhere haha.
You can also use the gas pedal when you hit the bottom of the hill to make the shift quicker from 10-9 and role on the power quicker then take you foot off of the pedal and the cruise will take over again.
What ratio do you have for a rear end gear? 3:55, 3:73? Might even have 3:31. You don’t need lots of rear end gear when you have 1000+ torque and 10 speeds...
That’s a good all around gear. The girlfriends uncles new f550 just came in last week. I had him put the 4:10 in a 550. I was getting 19l/100km this week at -37 and 105 km/h. I’m thinking it’s going to get 15-16l/100 in the summer empty.
Cool video! when I tow with my old 98 f150 in tow/haul mode (i.e. overdrive off) the truck has 3 gears at it's disposal hahaha.. 10 gears you say!?! well back in my day..... Cheers!
Great video. Have you ever done videos on calculating plow quotes for commercial and residential? Also, what settings are you using on the Deringer? Thanks
Lots of power especially since it pulled that big hill in 8th gear which is over drive. Ram/Cummins can forget about being top dog now days until they get a 10 speed it's over it's all about lots of trans gearing and low starting gears
I have a 2017 Powerstroke Platinum F250 with Airlift bags (I’ll be doing Firestone’s next time for sure as I like how they mount way better). I want to get the new 2020 but I sure wish they would have updated the interior along with their slight exterior changes and engine and trans update. I looked at the limited Ram and the interior was so much better. I wasn’t a fan of the cummins/aisin compared to my setup though
Forgot to mention how much smaller the cab felt in the ram especially in the rear compared to the ford. I know they have the larger mega cab but you have to get their dinky bed with that. I wish the short bed fords had a larger fuel tank or at least let us access all of it. Mine will say it’s 5 miles to empty and I can stuff maybe 27 gallons in it and it’s a 34 gallon tank
Great vid. take a look at the ridge grapplers for 37 s i ve run bfg toyo ans ridges and the ridges were honestly the quietest of the group and looked the best
As comfortable as that is in the diesel SRW with that weight (goosed), at what weight someone want/need to jump to a DRW? My brother tows a 10-11k 5th wheel with a 2013 F350 diesel and I'm in a 2017 gas 6.2L 350 towing a 6300lb TT. He's considering a DRW and I'm telling him he's crazy. lol - Why deal with the width on the tight sites we go to...or anywhere if unnecessary....
What's the axle ratio on your truck? The ordering guide says 3:31 and 3:55 are the options for the F250/F350. I'm asking as I'm curious while I'll wait for my F250 (HD Tow Package / 3:55) to show up. My dealer called me last weekend stating that my delivery date slipped from 28 Jan to middle of Feb. I ordered it 3 Nov sigh Dealer didn't know why. So I'm asking myself why? Tech Issue to resolve, supply chain issue or a marketing thing? Nice video, thanks informing the inquiring minds.
My new 2021 Ford F-350 with the 7.3 10 speed Godzilla and 4.30 gears ⚙️ is rated for 20K gooseneck towing and 15 K bumper tow. A guy on RUclips who overloaded his 2020 F-250 Godzilla 3.55 gears ⚙️ towed a gooseneck with a backhoe in the elevations of Utah with ease . He sold me on my new purchase . Of course the 6.7 Diesel tows better but the 7.3 Godzilla is in a class by itself among gassers !
Thanks for a good honest review! I'm liking this truck but coming form a 15 ram, I need to wait for the complete ram redesign to come out before I make my final decision. I just need to be patient 😖
Nice video, love the 2020 trucks. You mentioned not having a bed trailer hookup. You can add one in aftermarket with products from Curt or Bargman. Not sure about the camera though. Just a heads up wasn’t sure if you were aware :)
The Firestone airbags are not supposed to be mounted on top of the springs..Proper place is inboard of the springs on top of the axle housing..My 2017 f350 kept breaking the bolts on my right bag, when mounted like yours..Come to find out they used the wrong bracket, bags were on top of the leaf springs like your video shows..Night and Day difference performance when bags are inboard of springs.
B Hager I have had them both ways and I honestly don’t really feel a difference. If I have issues then I will swap them out but this is the kit they sell for these specific trucks.
This video helped me make up my mind. I was debating between a 2020 F350 or a 2020 Ram 3500. Both diesel. I love the Ford powerstroke and the panaroof. I also love the Cummins and the interior of the Ram. Curious what you think of the 2020 F350 with the 7.3 gasser??
Thanks for doing this vid. Impressive at stock. Agreed on tuning to maximize the benefit. So many options 😉. Also, curious how/where the air lines are run from the inside, out. We have salt problems here. Great idea to mount inside!
What is that on the left of your windshield? I know you mentioned it, but I messed it. Pulled a pull behind trailer the other day, near 18k lbs. the sway control in the new trucks is amazing as well. I love my 2020 350! 2nd have filming was better for me.
You've got some awesome trucks bro. If you had to pick 1 pulling 18k -pounds what do you recommend the beastmode F450 dually or a F250 your in now driving. Thanks. I'm loving the 450 dually personally just bcuz its got greater brakes and tranny and a bit overkill so you can pull safer and more efficient and easier
Hey Bye, what gear are you running in the rear? Looking at a XLT Supercrew with a 3.31 rear. Travel Trailer towing, 10000lbs. Good videos. The leap from passing is a Nova Scotia thing in my experience. It is the weirdest thing. They pass you at 110, slow down to 100 and go to 130 when you pass them. One time I nailed it to 160 for 20 minutes, slowed to 115 and the person I passed caught me, passed and slowed to 105!!! WTF. I gave up and slowed to 100km/hr.
With 265x65x18 at 60MPH 6-1,530 and 10-1,434. What you gain with the 10-speed you get a lower 1st to be able get a bigger load going and smaller gaps between gears so that you can maintain the lowest RPM for the necessary torque/MPH. This improves MPG and drive-train and durability. Here are the ratios 10R140 4.6150 2.9190 2.1320 1.7730 1.5190 1.2770 1.0100 0.8510 0.6870 0.6320 6R140 3.9740 2.3180 1.5160 1.1490 0.8580 0.6740
Wouldn't it be better to put the truck on the trailer backwards? I'm only thinking to have the weight primarily on the trailer rather than have that heavy engine over the front axels of the trailer?
Great video doing more research second time I watched it. What axle ratio is this and what ratio was your 17/19? Video???? the best is split screen with RPM and gear on one and windshield view (hills) on the other.
Any update on the truck? How’s the motor holding it? I know they made some changes to the 20 model and up. I’m throwing around the idea of getting a new one
Nice trucks for sure. Love checking out the 2020. But, I don't understand folks who use these for work ordering short beds. Can't put a sheet of plywood in the bed and put the tailgate up. I know everyone has their preferences, but HD trucks that can't haul my ATV in the bed without the tailgate down are kinda weird. Reminds me of the time I was at a New Holland dealer buying a tractor and a SB F350 showed up and the owner said...look at that....all that truck and can't put the tailgate up on a sheet of plywood. LOL! Still nice looking trucks.
I have 2020 f350 7.3. It's ok to allow it to tow in the od gears? I was taught lockout od. So, I would assume should do the same with the 10 speed. In USA max allowed towing speed in 65 mph. So, I would probably not want to even use 9th or 10th anyhow for grade changes and such. What I'm trying to saw is I would think using the high gears could damage the tranny???
Great video! Love the new 2020 F350. What would be a dangerous temperature of the transmission when towing ? What is the normal range of temps when towing? Thanks Workplay -didn't notice the shaky camera angle
@@workplaytv That's what I thought. I have a brand new Derringer that I bought for my 2019 but I got into an accident before I had the chance to install it. Now I have a brand new 2020 platinum with the tremor package. I try to install my derringer in it but it's a no go . Thanks
Darren Pelphrey honestly the new 2020 feels a lot like the Cummins in the low end. Th added toque really made a huge difference. Feels more like the tractor feel the Cummins gives you now.
The Ford is an amazing truck but here’s my problem, the same drivetrain can handle 37000 lbs. Now I know it’s not setup like a dually. My point a Chevy, a Ram will also haul 18000 lbs nearly identical time if you stay within speed limits. Because, the same thing, Chevy and Ram, have much higher weight ratings in their dually. We are reaching the point in these trucks, all three, that testing anything below 30,000 lbs will probably not produce a differential outcome except how it feels to the driver. That Ford probably has a 3400 lb or so payload and is capable to haul nearly 21000 lbs. correct? I just think the setups are so good in all three trucks, that anyone you buy will serve ya well.
@@workplaytv yes it was I’ve watched it several times. I’m 75% sure if they had someone to use the gear selector, they could have reduced that time. But really I think they have given to much credence to time up the hill and didn’t put enough emphasis on zero brake applications going down. Like I said earlier do I really care going up if I’m one minute slower? Or for safety’s sake would I rather have zero brake applications. Nice channel btw!
Jonathan Marroquin it goes by combined registered weight not actual load. And with tow truck, the trailer and the truck on the trailer it’s over 26,000lbs also

What ratio do you have for a rear end gear? 3:55, 3:73? Might even have 3:31. You don’t need lots of rear end gear when you have 1000+ torque and 10 speeds...
On The Go With Mitch 3.55
That’s a good all around gear. The girlfriends uncles new f550 just came in last week. I had him put the 4:10 in a 550. I was getting 19l/100km this week at -37 and 105 km/h. I’m thinking it’s going to get 15-16l/100 in the summer empty.
Cool video! when I tow with my old 98 f150 in tow/haul mode (i.e. overdrive off) the truck has 3 gears at it's disposal hahaha.. 10 gears you say!?! well back in my day.....
Cheers!
Great camera system another great towing review. Truck seems to set level with all that weight. peace brother
Nick Freyermuth Airbags.
Great review of the new drivetrain. Thank you. It would be great if you could review a new 7.3 Gas V8 for comparison.
Yeah I’d love to get my hands on one.
Great video. Have you ever done videos on calculating plow quotes for commercial and residential? Also, what settings are you using on the Deringer? Thanks
C I did a video like that just year. Didn’t use the derringer just the data monster
@@workplaytv Thanks I will have a look.
Lots of power especially since it pulled that big hill in 8th gear which is over drive. Ram/Cummins can forget about being top dog now days until they get a 10 speed it's over it's all about lots of trans gearing and low starting gears
Is the new Ram still using a 6 speed or have they started using the 8 speed yet?
Mine will say it’s 5 miles to empty and I can stuff maybe 27 gallons in it and it’s a 34 gallon tank
kurtomac Yeah I agree if I was using this for long hauls I will get a second or larger tank installed.
I really hope Ford updates their interiors because the truck are solid other than that..
You should add a camera behind the rear bumper so you can Actually hear the exhaust. Would be neat!
What gear is a 1:1 aka direct drive in that 10 speed never mind just heard you say it's 7th
Jst loving your videos from other side of world.. Greetings from Nepal bro ✌✌
Eagle Eye Awesome
Man thanks!
Great vid. take a look at the ridge grapplers for 37 s i ve run bfg toyo ans ridges and the ridges were honestly the quietest of the group and looked the best
Awesome video man
what your rear axle ratio? what package options are on it?
thinking about buying a new ford truck.
I ordered it 3 Nov
sigh
Dealer didn't know why. So I'm asking myself why? Tech Issue to resolve, supply chain issue or a marketing thing?
Nice video, thanks informing the inquiring minds.
David Lanham 3.55 on my truck.sorry to hear about yours.
Does that Banks monitor tell you when your transmission is in lockup
Carl Stovall I think you can I need to find out for sure.
@@workplaytv sounds good..NEWFY OUT!
Hello and greetings from West Palm Bch, Fl. USA.
Why is Your dashboard blinking?
I have to get a super duty when I graduate college. That 350 is dope
Please use your merge signal early when turning or merging.
Brian Wideman oh ok yes sir
Thanks for doing this vid. Impressive at stock. Agreed on tuning to maximize the benefit. So many options 😉. Also, curious how/where the air lines are run from the inside, out. We have salt problems here. Great idea to mount inside!
WonderingAimlessly Hey we just ran up through the cab and plugged with robber grommet and sealant.
@@workplaytv ah, yes. Makes sense. Thx!
What is that on the left of your windshield? I know you mentioned it, but I messed it.
Pulled a pull behind trailer the other day, near 18k lbs. the sway control in the new trucks is amazing as well. I love my 2020 350!
2nd have filming was better for me.
That’s the banks Idash data monster
This truck was 3.55
What i would like you to do is ,the mph at 1500 rpm with the 6 speed and the 10 speed , is the dif 7 /8 or 10 mph with the 10 speed . thanks .
Here are the ratios
10R140 4.6150 2.9190 2.1320 1.7730 1.5190 1.2770 1.0100 0.8510 0.6870 0.6320
6R140 3.9740 2.3180 1.5160 1.1490 0.8580 0.6740
What gear ratio are you running??
I liked both camera angles
what engine is the truck ?? 1- Engine - 6.2L SOHC 2-valve Flex Fuel V8 (F-250/350) or 2- Engine - 6.7L Power Stroke® V8 Turbo Diese
Just wondering what differential ratios you have now, and are you looking to change after putting on your 37"ers?
It’s 3.55. I don’t think I’ll have to with them 10 speed but I guess we will see how it hauls.
I have hauled 18000 to 20000 with my 2015 F350 SuperDuty
How much is insurance for the truck for the year ?
I am very surprised you didn't break your truck in before towing with it. Cool truck man I want a F350 dually or F450 dually.
Wouldn't it be better to put the truck on the trailer backwards? I'm only thinking to have the weight primarily on the trailer rather than have that heavy engine over the front axels of the trailer?
Michael Sure it would ha s helped a bit but either way is fine for this load. The trailer is basically half the total weight so it felt good
Yeah, but he didn't.
Does this truck have an auto high idle feature or can a guy manually push a button and it goes to high idle?
Shane Ward You can add that.
Did you have the engine brake in auto or manual mode?
Maybe I have missed it but what is the yellow payload capacity sticker read on the new truck? GVWR - 11500?
William Allen 3445
Great video doing more research second time I watched it. What axle ratio is this and what ratio was your 17/19? Video???? the best is split screen with RPM and gear on one and windshield view (hills) on the other.
Both trucks are 3.55
Awesome vid. U should put a exhaust on the 2020 platinum. Also I know I ask this every time but how many miles are on the 2020.
Nicolas Calandro there will
Be goodies. Only like 500
Hi boddy, Tell me something, for a pickup truck and a load just like the one you are in, do you need CDL?
thanks
Jose M de Souza Yea cause my registered weight was over over 26,000
@@workplaytv Okay thanks, good luck.
Can the interior lighting be changed from different colors. Also do a night video of interior lights and exterior
William Buckley No you can’t change the ambient lighting now.
workplaytv on the 2019 you can change the colors ?
William Buckley Yup I could change them on my 17
Why are your chains facing the same way??
As soon as I heard “about” I know this was a Canadian 😂😂😂
Any update on the truck? How’s the motor holding it? I know they made some changes to the 20 model and up. I’m throwing around the idea of getting a new one
It’s awesome!
@@workplaytv heard that man. All I tow now is my fifth wheel. It weighs right under 12,000.
Would you ever get a duramax or cummins?
Corey Mogren Yeah is love to have one of each! Haha
Shawn Gross Lol I have trailers for those situations . A king bed would be a waste of space for me
@@workplaytv As I said...great looking trucks.
Nah man you don’t need to do that. If that was the case you would be driving around in 7th all the time. Lol
Great video! Love the new 2020 F350.
What would be a dangerous temperature of the transmission when towing ?
What is the normal range of temps when towing?
Thanks Workplay
-didn't notice the shaky camera angle
Mr. Gallugi Hey is your hitting 230 that is getting up there anything from 190-220 in the Fords are ok.
How’s the 2020 tows well right
Just curious why didn't you go with a long box on the '20 ?
Thomas Schachtel J have no need for the long box. If I tow super heavy I use my 550. Also I don’t need the box space cause I have a few trailers.
What about the death wable? Was that issues addressed?
Yes I believe you can even get your 17-19 equipoise with the 2020 and up parts
Hey do you have the Banks derringer with I dash or just the I dash in your 2020?
Steve Lafontaine just Idash
@@workplaytv That's what I thought. I have a brand new Derringer that I bought for my 2019 but I got into an accident before I had the chance to install it. Now I have a brand new 2020 platinum with the tremor package. I try to install my derringer in it but it's a no go . Thanks
just to be clear is that 18,000 combined with the truck or is that 18k load and trailer not the trucks weight?
Christopher Snyder trailer load
70 pounds in the bags before load or after?
Very impressive towing # , the 37s will probably do away with the 10th gear when towing in the hills. 🇺🇸
First time I’ve seen your videos. How do you think this ford pulled compared to the Cummins ?
Darren Pelphrey honestly the new 2020 feels a lot like the Cummins in the low end. Th added toque really made a huge difference. Feels more like the tractor feel the Cummins gives you now.
U should put a delete on it when u put on a lift. . But really thought he'd do better on fuel
For sure. With that said when TFL tested the Ford against the Chev towing up the Ike with 30,000lbs the ford was over 1 min faster.
@@redbarron6574 oh yeah the Ram was a champ going down!
Question why is this considered a CDL load if the gcvwr is not over 26000 lbs? Trying to figure out whether or not I will need a CDL for my haul
Jonathan Marroquin it goes by combined registered weight not actual load. And with tow truck, the trailer and the truck on the trailer it’s over 26,000lbs also
How did u get a boss v-plow installed on your truck. I have a 2001 f-350 diesel and boss said they won’t sell me one with a warranty
Irv Ryba Maybe the mount has changed on the new ones. I have 2 of these plows on these trucks
