Nice video but why wouldn’t you just notch your 6x6’s the thickness of your 2x8’s either 1 1/2” nominal or 2” if you’re using true lumber? I would want as much of that 2x8 on that 6x6 notch as possible with all that weight bearing down on it.
I did a little online research and it did not look like I needed to in my area. Yours may be different. I may have needed a permit for the electrical but I am taking my chances.
@@bryansprojects3570 Thank you. Great video I been wanting to build a pavilion, so I'm going to give it a try. Last question how tall did you go with the post?
Great project!
Cooper!!!haha
Little project! Great series thanks
Good enough for who it’s for..😊
Exactly!
great video....... is COOPER still around ??
Yes! He is about 7 years old now. You can hear him barking in some of my videos.
Him : "i installed the rim joist or whatever you want to call it"
Me: ok, that's a rim joist until someone say otherwise
Let’s go bro

I notched them half way like that mainly for aesthetics to give some more dimension like they were beams instead of 2 by lumber.
great job man!!!! how much this set you back roughly if you dont mind me asking? thanks from ny....
It was probably $800-1000. It was obviously stretched out over a few months so I didn't keep track exactly.
@@bryansprojects3570 Thanks for the reply looks great...
Great video!! Would be a little more dummy friendly if you could list the materials.
Thank you!
Cooper wanted to help.
Did you need a permit to build this!

11:06 ... you don't like your left hand?
It certainly looks like that from that angle.
What's the post size and where did you end up getting them. Thanks
They are 6x6. I got the new ones at Lowe's mainly because I get a veteran's discount.

The post at the uphill end is 98" to the top. I probably should have made it a little shorter but I did not want to have it feel claustrophobic.
Lmao Cooper 🤬
