This is an excellent way to save the environment, animals and world hunger. There is nothing gross about eating a meat done in vitro in comparision to eating dead animals who suffered. It is surely way more healthy without antibiotics, gmo's and deadly bacterias than factory farmed meat too, and it can satisfy those people who just do not want to go on a plant-based diet and stop eating meat. I hope this advances quickly!
It may have GMO, food preservatives and all. It's whatever food industry sees fit. But it could be cheaper and u can say goodbye to fake meat (hopefully).
Although I highly value Mark Post's research and work on this fascinating project around cultivating meat without having negative affects on animals and environment, I still ask myself if it wouldn't be easier to simply educate future generations (and our's) to change our diets to a plant-based rather than a (fake)meat-based? Anyhow, this is an awesome concept and should definitely be further developed! I see this benefiting us humans if we lose a finger or a leg... but in a far far future :)
"So you reinvent the wheel?" Yep. That's kind of the point. The wheel sometimes needs re-inventing, and maintaining our current dietary and agricultural practices is not sustainable on a planet headed towards nine billion people on it. Something has to give. Currently the choices for the future seem to be go vegan or go home. Given our rapidly-improving ability to grow tissue in vitro, this seems a preferable option to eating bugs, which is our next best bet for animal protein.
not sure if you guys cares but if you're bored like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all of the new movies on instaflixxer. I've been streaming with my gf these days xD
I think lab grown lamb meat or turkey meat is also very attractive but it will be good if it contains some lab grown lamb or turkey fat cells which will give the taste people want ;) I mean why not invest also in the technology of some cheaper kind of "delicacy meats"? People will appreciate the taste of a delicacy meat - I'm sure :)
This is so interesting! I'm currently writing a paper about meat alternatives and I was researching Mark Post and this was incredibly helpful, thank you!
Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 2Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 3Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 4For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 5For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
Fascinating! Specially the 3d printed steak! Star trek food assembly machine.... not far in our future we will transmute our fecal matter as well as our dead right back into our food. Perfect recycling is the key to sustainability!
Perfect food for the slaves of the future. Surely not something the owners would eat, they would have the real thing. Just like they do now, feeding GMO to the people of UK, and insisting on NON GMO Organic for themselves. - Nothing has changed.
Pescetarian former heavy meat eater here. I'm looking forward to in-vitro meat. Cruelty-free, preserves land for wilderness, and it's easier to control what goes into a bioreactor than what accumulates in the flesh of a cow. Bye bye unwanted hormones/toxins/viruses.
LMAO You have no idea what you're putting in your body when it comes from a Lab! In order to get rid of the methane you have to destroy the cows! You people are insane!
Amazing. Honestly though, I think I'd need time to get used to this notion of eating 'home-grown' meat. Hopefully, by the time this is mass-supplied I'd be open.
So you reinvent the wheel? Muscle grown inside a cow benefits from the other organs for healthy growth, such as liver, kidneys, lungs and blood streams to control oxygen flow, remove waste, etc.
So instead of producing meat like this, I would stick to drinking animo acids given that they are cheap enough to grow lab meat. Why waste another step?
Two years and $325,000 down the drain, considering this still can't accomplish even half of what people have been doing for decades with Holistic Management.
Bravo 👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏 when human??? will realize that karma happened to them because of kill lie and pick belongings of others and this karma goes to their family ..sickness, arguments....in their family, they go to the church, pagoda, without understanding that the true religion is kindness ...take care ourself well and kindness to all beings in this world... You love your kids, parents... animals have feelings heart they have tears they love also life they love their family trees also .... human destroy too much for money...and money will not save you only good karma will do ...weather changes, pandemie....all from our wrong mind talks and act ... watch now our world ...the most dangerous animal in this world is the human not the vegetable mineral or animals time to change for a betterr and safe world for our kids . You love them so much no? So why do you create bad karma for them? Can you really watch what happen in a slaughter house? If other animals kill them we can eat no bad karma but if we kill them bad karma for you and also for your family ...Time to pay debt now.... Good Luck🙏😊😇

+jaquiobear I agree to everything except the casual drop of GMOs as something bad.
If it doesn't taste as good, there's no deal.

McDonald's should fund and implement this synthetic meat policy first, it would be a signal to everyone else…♥️🐄

@Jamal Shepherd yea, I have been using InstaFlixxer for since november myself :)
According to Professor Mark Post, "a vegetarian with a Hummer is actually better for the environment than a meat eater with a bicycle." (2:40 - 2:47)
You're welcome to kowtow to Mark Post most of you do kowtow to some credential carrying
God.
I LOVE THIS I WANT THIS WHERE CAN I BUY THIS
+Anh Nguyen - He says now, that 7 years should be enough. ;)
A place called Bistro In Vitro does it. I don't know if it has spread to anywhere else yet.
Thanks now I might be able to hang around a cow without feeling self conscious. :D
We don't have to wait for cultured meat to stop killing our friends, there's plenty of plants to choose from for food (:

+ClassicalMartin yes this should not be about "health" but just to match the taste. Meat eaters do not think about healthy stuff ever
Instead of grinding whole wheat berries for bread, soak them and use them to make a meat textured burger, stew meat, soup meat.
So TED has been holding onto this for quite some time now.

This guy is a liar and he wants you to be sick!!
What animal are you going to be harvesting stem cells from? Soylent green anyone?

+Heath Sims, is that what they told you? Nice of you to have learned it.
I think you misunderstood the research, there's no genetic modification involved.
Nicole Yu it’s made in a lab for crying out loud. It’s the eptimome of processed food
I don't mean to troll, but genetic modification, food processing and cultured meat are all very different. Dr Post's product is 100% meat.
Smart one bro.
It'd be easier, sure, but it wouldn't be as fun. Besides, now that we have NEW MEAT...we can make SANDVICHES!
I really like this
Can't wait for 2020. :D

Hi I'm from the future. We're here and nothing really happened. But Climate Change has been taking very seriously lately.

Looks like stem cells and tissue engineering geeks have realized if we can't create body organs, we can then just it!
Very interesting, but I would rather just remove meat from my diet.
Our entire food industry is going down the pan and we will learn the hard way
So, tell me about "all those levels" please
I hardly eat beef anymore, prefer fish and veggies..
Amazing. Honestly though, I think I'd need time to get used to this notion of eating 'home-grown' meat. Hopefully, by the time this is mass-supplied I'd be open.
I Love animals 4 ever and Love and Go vegan 4 ever 💓👍☮️
No thank you. Leave the animals alone. Now we're growing their muscles? Plant Base Whole Foods is the way to go.
How many hamburgers is 10 tons?
17:40 - Yes. Yes, I will.
Is someone in the background eating something? I can hear crunching noises :I
Hannibal-Hipsters everywhere.
This is great! Why didn't it surge to mass consumption yet?! This should be n.1 thing to invest into for any country.
soylent green is people

Cherry picked inaccurate data.. wow

5 years later, u still cant find a fking result :))). But that's how science is, anyway.
and who funds the scientists, all main stream science sold out many decades ago my friend ;)
