It needs getting used to. I like the analogy to brewery. Somehow my brain seems to accept it better that way.

I just LOVE this! I hate the cruel way animals are raised and killed for our food. This presentation is brilliant.

***** Thanks for replying! Imagine all the suffering animals will be spared, not only farm animals... dogs boiled alive for meat, animals skinned alive for fur, cats stacked in clandestine trucks for food, kittens and dogs harpooned and thrown in the water as shark baits, sharks having their fins cut out and left to die in the sea, dolphins captured in nets and killed with knifes to be sold as shark meat, animals hunted and killed for their ivory or skin... The list goes on and on and on. I hope you get there quickly and become very rich and continue to grow your business.

+Nicole Anne Collet the thing is If we stopped killing animals for their meat or other by products there would be no need to keep breeding them and we wouldn't be able to throw money away feeding them and all the farm land which is used to graze the cattle would be turned into fields to produce vegetables and other items for us to eat on, Farmers would not loose money by setting aside land for grazing of animals they would not benefit from so these animals would just not be breed meaning the population would decrease and then become extinct as there would be no purpose for them anymore. :/ same with chickens and other animals. So sustainable farming of livestock is actually keeping the breeds alive and for a purpose :/
apart from Muslim and other religious organisations who barbarically slaughter their animals most countries do it humanly meaning they suffer far less than if a pack of wolves or other predatory animal were ripping it apart and it is still alive. now that is cruel. where do you draw the line? stop the other animals ripping them apart while they are alive? animals can not all be herbivores some are just carnivores meaning they would then suffer as they can not eat.
you can not ride cows or use them to work the land or anything. :/
I appreciate you maybe vegetarian or vegan but the facts speak for themselves. yes some zoos may keep some going but you have to look at the bigger picture. Most places the cattle or other animals are brought up to be used for the food industry have alot better lives than wild animals. for starters there is always a supply of food and clean water.

People are growing Fungi ‘Leather’ in 2 months that would take a Cow 3 years to grow. On top of that this Fungi ‘Leather’( aka Muskin). Muskin has all the properties of animal leather but only needs waste seed husks etc to grow. No methane emitted, no masses of food, land and water. Already 2 major clothes and shoe manufacturers have shown a lot of interest in this Fungi product!.

Excellent presentation and idea. Is this technology patented or something than can be open to the public for local start-ups?

I can't wait for bio-printed food. How can I get involved?

If they could print like "a vegan copy" of rhino horns, shark fins and tiger bones maybe their value could drop in the markets. :/

    this is amazing :D
and hm well, the term 'nature' is really quite ambiguous. where does it start and end. well for me as a pantheist 'nature' or the 'universe' are the whole thing, process, just everything, the whole. so everything is a part of nature. we are a part of nature, and technology is the understanding of the connections among the parts of nature.
there is nothing 'natural' because everything is 'natural', by this definition.
i guess we should rather use the term 'not deliberately synthesized by humans', although well... ;)

Soylent Green is people! After seeing this you can fully understand the 1973 film. Those eating the soylent green weren't considered cannibals but it was revealed after Thorn went undercover in the Soylent processing plant that it was people (human).

How about wood? As a guitarist I know a lot of players prefer all kinds of exotic wood that are not environmentally friendly.

This will simply be an alternative, possibly for the poor and/or vegans. Meat won't go to a 100 billion but it is unlikely to go below the current size especially as livestock farms move towards zero emmisons . Also ted talks should not be salesman talking such as this one is.

I apologize for this comment in advance because it's frankly disgusting so please do not click "Read More" unless you have a strong stomach.
Who is going to be the first to grow and wear human leather? Should it be legal? Is it moral?

Wow. How wrong this all is in hindsight... not the least of which is, the existence of animals is a net good for them ... you're not doing them a favor ensuring they never exist.
