When my daughter was 8 years old, we were listening to the BeeGee’s ‘Too Much Heaven’ in the car & she said: “Dad, when I get married would you dance this song with me?” I told her that I would. “You promise? Yes, I promise you.” Dad kept his promise to his beautiful daughter almost 20 years later. On New Years Eve 2019, I danced the Father of the Bride & Bride’s dance with my daughter to ‘Too Much Heaven’. Promise kept.

And just when you think the song couldn't get any better, and their voices couldn't get higher, more synchronized and more harmonious, the key change showcases another level of their incredible talent. @jsun322 So true. The harmonies on this song include 27 vocal tracks, 18 of them Barry's. The orchestra is also nice and, as you said, the key change. Little known fact - besides the orchestra, the background includes the horn section from the group Chicago (James Pankow, Walt Parazaider and Lee Loughnane).

The general public didn't realize how incredibly talented the Bee Gee's were because much of the industry downplayed disco music for many decades. Now, what do you think about them? I grew up in 70's loving the Bee Gee's because I grew up in a family of musicians and singers knowing just how difficult it is to sing at this level. Their harmonies are incredible, and I have yet, to hear anyone or group with their level of ability. Sadly, Barry is the only Bee Gee to still be alive. I play their music almost daily. They are incredible.

The BeeGee's weren't downplayed until the late 70's and early 80's during the 'disco sucks' movement. After that, they wrote for other performers like Kenny Rodgers and Dolly Parton. They had an album called 'Living Eyes' in 1981 the met with mixed reviews, but came back with an album in 1987 called 'ESP' which was pretty good. Barry Gibb was performing with his brothers before they died and strained his back so bad singing falsetto that he no longer is capable of singing in the higher registers. He sill performs though. Personally, I like the songs they did in the '60's. 'I started a joke' and 'Massachusetts' are my favorites.

At the end Robin, Maurice and Barry did 3 solo’s and signed autographs. It was low key as there was only 1200 people in attendance. I believe it was a last minute thing on the part of Busch Gardens so there’re wasn’t any advertising. Those of us that happened to be there were treated to a life moment. Quite simply, magical. After ALL of these years, they still do it for me! I graduated from HS in 1965... A little history:
"Too Much Heaven" is a song by the Bee Gees, which was the band's contribution to the "Music for UNICEF" fund. They performed it at the Music for UNICEF Concert on 9 January 1979. The song later found its way to the group's thirteenth original album, Spirits Having Flown. It hit No. 1 in both the United States and Canada. In the United States, the song was the first single out of three from the album to interrupt a song's stay at #1. "Too Much Heaven" knocked "Le Freak" off the top spot for two weeks before "Le Freak" returned to #1 again.[1] "Too Much Heaven" also rose to the top three in the United Kingdom. In the US, it would become the fourth of six consecutive No. 1s, equalling the record set by Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley, and the Beatles for the most consecutive No. 1 songs. The 6 Bee Gee songs are "How Deep Is Your Love", "Stayin' Alive", "Night Fever", "Too Much Heaven", "Tragedy" and "Love You Inside Out". The songs spanned the years of 1977, 1978 and 1979.
Robin Gibb reportedly said on the Bee Gees' interview for Billboard in 2001 that this track was one of his favourite songs of the Bee Gees.

    Hehehe... they got to you!
They made alot of ears turn and made alot of people recognize their harmonies. I know for sure that today's singers and the music of today cannot hold a candle to these songs and artists of yesteryear.

The BeeGee’s made music for five decades. At one time they had five songs in the top ten all at once, three of theirs and two Barry had written for other artists. They wrote songs for almost anyone who is now a legend now. The WERE music for several decades. America rejected them after the disco years but Europe and Asia continued to love them. Barry once said he could never understand how Americans could be ashamed of their musical heritage.

KarBen 2020. I don't think it was the American public that was responding that way. I think it was the record industry and the DJs. The DJ who started that burning records episode said many years later that he regretted it and that he did it because he was jealous he couldn't dance disco. That's A Pretty Petty reason for not playing their music all the years after.

Back in the day as a young man the Bee Gees music was just a way of being able too dance with girls on the dance floor at the local disco, but it’s not until you mature in your years that you realise just how hugely talented these brothers were. God bless the Brothers Gibb and hello from us here in Scotland.

  • @bambamnj
    @bambamnj 3 года назад +6

Such an amazing and tragic family. There were actually four Gibb brothers. Andy Gibb, the youngest of the brothers, was never part of the BeeGees (at least as far as I know) but he did have a solo career and has the same beautiful voice as Barry (even looked more like Barry than the other brothers). Andy was the first tragic loss. He apparently fought depression and it tool his life. Maurice died later of an issue with a twisted bowl. Robin later fought cancer along with other health issues and was taken from us. I really feel for Barry, being the oldest brother and having to see all of your brothers pass in tragic ways. God bless you Gibb brothers, you brought such unique and amazing music into our lives.

You had the best reaction, when you pause the video and not saying a word!!! That was a pure genuine reaction!! Made me smile!!
The Bee Gee's have been singing since they were just little boys. Except the guy in the middle (Barry) was/is much older. Other than that they have a long list of great hits. They have also written for other artists as well.
They also have another brother named Andy Gibb! He too had a string of hits back in the day.
Sadly Barry is the only Gibb that is still with us!! For those of us who grew up listing to their music, we are so very thankful to have had them!

The Bee gees were three Brothers. Barry is the oldest by 3 years. He was the one who sang the high notes. The other two were fraternal Twins Robin and Maurice. They had a younger brother Andy who had a solo career. If you want to see all 4 brothers singing together than react to You should be Dancing. How Deep is your love is another great song by the Bee Gees.

I grew up with the Bee Gees, & you have no idea how happy it makes me, to see the younger generation discover the music we fell in love with !!! Barry Gibb, in my opinion, has the best falsetto voice ever, & what makes it so incredible, is that in his falsetto, he also used his vibrato, which is very rare! Thank you so much for this, they were brothers, & Barry is the last one, but please review more of their music, you will not be disappointed, & they span over years, & crossed many genres 😍
I also believe, that if there is music in Heaven, it would like like the Bee Gee's ❤️❤️❤️ I also wanted to add, that you are such a beautiful person, inside & out!
