Great Alice Coltrane collection. I remember the story you told about the Cosmic Music, looking through someones records and them telling you, "your going to want that one" Always wonderful hearing your musings. Charles ❤

love the music. Very inspiring. Would be great to hear the beats you spoke about. I agree that making great music is what it's about, not taking shortcuts. Cheers!

Really cool to hear you mention Jay Reatard. Gone way too soon & seriously under appreciated. He had projects most people aren’t even fully aware of like Angry Angles and Bad Times which was somewhat of a garage punk supergroup.

I talked to you briefly at Homer’s recently, you recommended an album by Jeff Beck after I mentioned my interest in Jazz fusion. I was hoping you didn’t already have a copy of Eternity, I should have known. It should sound amazing VMP doesn’t mess around.

Hey, Dereck I was watching two different documentaries on RUclips about noise music. People Who Do Noise (2008) and City/Ruins: Art In The Face Of Industrial Decay [Full Documentary] Noise. I was watching them because I heard you talk about noise music in other videos. Anyway, I have a Question was it Lou Reed's album Metal Machine Music that got you interested in noise music? Or did you discover it differently? Thanks for reading my comment and have Nice day.

I was into noise before Lou. That album had nothing to do with it. My introduction was through the library, hearing Pierre Henry and Stockhausen.

I filed it. Really don't think much of it beyond knowing its place in rock history.

To me, making a melody on top of beautiful chords is organic benevolence that requires no spirituality. I've met many "spiritual" musicians that think talent is sacred so we have to tip toe arround their arrogant magisterial authority. In reality, Allan Holdsworth physically moved air molecules, spirituality pretends to pacify air molecules without technical merit. Good musicians change lives because of benevolent virtue of harmony and emotional intelligence. Sound is the science of reality and Allan flew way above the dithering fog of pompous luddites and brainwashed supplicants.
