About the flipflop situation that's probably part of the story, a true part that is, as in most of 3rd world underdeveloped countries (I'm from Brazil, here is the same) many many people do ride with bare feet or using flipflops...
Flip flip story is correct, for that matter I would ride with a flip flop in any part of the world and for riding with a flip flop I don't need a heel shifter, though it definitely makes life easier. I think the RE just tried it on the meteor to see how it will fly with its customer base and I think the reaction overall has been positive.
I put a toe heel on my Classic 500 as I have a problem with my left big toe, from 52 years of gear changing in not always the best shoes, had one on my Harley Fatboy and Honda 125 Innova , i love them.
I have the meteor 350 as well and I love it. 5-10 190 pounds I got the cruiser pegs which are a little bigger and the touring seat. Both are inexpensive and a must have Happy rid’n So Cali USA
Interesting video. Funny, I have a Honda CMX500 Rebel (nice bike but not the most comfortable) and am going to trade it in for a Meteor next spring - if there's any left! I watch hundreds of videos of bike tests and I cannot think of one negative review of the Meteor, everyone loves it! That is exceptional. Anyway, enjoy your 500, take care and ride safe.
Wow so interesting to hear that you’ve decided to move away from the Honda. A bike should make you smile and I’m sure you’re gonna love the Meteor. I think it looks fantastic and it’s such an easy bike to ride. Enjoy your new journey ahead, and safe riding to you too.
As a return biker with a history of big BMWs, and I love my Meteor which I have owned over the last 12 months. Great for biking. Less suitable for motorways/long dual carriageways, or keeping up with fast riders. If you share this mindset, you will love it!
Nice to see you back in action. If you feel so inspired, an update on the Tribute would be welcomed. How do you feel about it after one + year’s ownership? Mileage? Customisation? And so on… Thanks 😎
I rode your bike 2 weeks ago here in the US... And it was the most gutless thing I ever put my leg over!. It maybe ok in the UK, and I mean ok maybe not good or great.. I know I lived in the UK 50 mikes NW of London for 4 years. Here in the states, you absolutely would get run over by cars and trucks and killed!.
Check out 'old man ronin from the US. He has one and loves it. Guess it depends on wether you have to use the highways much, or stick with the back roads and lanes he has as his playground.
It is quite true, we use flip flops to go out for the market or a haircut . incase of office goers if you have your boots on still you don't need to put your toe beneath the gear lever to change it and thereby keeping your boots always shining even in front of your horrible bosses....
I just took delivery of my Meteor 350 Fireball Matt Green. And found your video just in time before my first ride. By the way, it is not a story. People do use flip flops while driving in India. :P
Great video production. May I know how do you manage the microphone, the audio output is really good, without any noise. Keep riding 🙌🏻 Love from India 💓
Thanks. I use a Tascam DR 10L external mic, with 2 foam wind shield mic covers; and then sync the audio afterwards. I know others feed mics directly into their GoPros but I’ve used this method for years and so am quite used to syncing audio afterwards. Hope that helps. Stay safe x
@@TheBikingActor Those of us who've been biking a little longer (OK… A lot longer) might well have seen, and ridden with, heel and toe clutches… on old Indians (real 'Springfield' Indians, not the new Polaris bikes), or on earlier Harleys, like the old WL 45, or other pre-sixties' models equipped with hand gear change and foot clutch (an option on some models through the sixties too)… Heel and toe gear change has been standard on Harley's touring range for years. If you really want to try oddball controls, try a Ner-A-Car, with its twistgrip clutch on the left handlebar, hand lever gear change, and twin lever throttle (air and fuel) on the right. If that's not confusing enough, it has hub centre steering, with the front wheel not turning as much as the bars and invisible from the saddle due to the huge fixed frame mounted front mudguard, along with both brakes (handlebar lever, and foot pedal) operating on the rear wheel (two brakes, one either side of the hub). It's a shame I can't upload a pic of my brother on his 1925 model.
Chris thank you so much for this. I had no idea! I’ve just watched a quick video on RUclips on the Harley WLA which has the toe-heel clutch and a manual shift gate/arm like you’d see in a car! It’s weird how that looks kind of right!!!! Haha.
Yep got mine in yellow with tinted screen …brilliant 🙏😎
I know nothing about bikes, but loved this! You are a natural presenter Nicky baby!
Such a lovely review, and i've watched plenty of royal enfield reviews and yours really stands out!

They're on Guzzi's so as to not scuff the Gucci's ; - )
What?! I'm from Peru and I've never seen anyone riding with flipflops or bare feet. I think it has to do with common sense

Ordered a Meteo stellar blue last friday. It was 5990 swiss francs. I did a 1/2 h. test drive a few weeks ago with a yellow fireball.

@@stephentwist Many thanks for your comments, Stephen. Take care and ride safe.
The only negative I read and what put me off was that, with feet forward, moving off the seat to avoid jarring over potholes was not practicable?
Great bike
Lovely video enjoy you’re reviews
Good to see you back
And as of October 22 the meteor has gone up in price, the model you rode is £4059 and that's the base model!
It's a gear change, not the clutch which is the left lever 👌🏻

Will do 🫡
Haha... enjoy ur reference to Streetcar Named Desire!
As in Thailand , flipflops , gf/wife and a couple of kids (the toddler gets the helmet) on the one bike/scooter .
yikes wipe the whole family out in one fell swoop !
I've had a fireball red one for about 1 1/2 years now (2021) and the only thing I wish I could find are real forward-controls. 😎

Stock seat is actually more comfortable than the touring seat, which digs into your lower back and pushes you forward about a half inch
Can you move off the seat to avoid jarring from potholes?

You’ve got one of the new colours! Fantastic. Safe riding!
Heal toe shift was used by the army, the men would polish their shoes. this mechanism would not ruin the polish on the shoes... If u get what I mean.

Absolutely a thumbs up! Break a leg.
where's the oil cooler?
Just for being argumental: how do you make it Toe-Heel-clutch.....?
I guess its more about the toe-heel gear shift?

Thanks for the video. Why the headlight is constatly on in meteor ? And also the tail light . How to put it off?
An additional relay installation lets you change that. But it's a good safety measure nonetheless; makes me more visible to other motorists
@@delhidirt7914 thanks a lot . so it is normal for all meteor?

I am a happy owner of a METEOR 350 - SUPERNOVA BROWN
Could you review the keeway Benda bd300. It is way more powerful and much more beautiful.
Extremely jealous.

Heel/toe clutch? WTF???
Ohhhhh... you mean gear change :)
Haha. Now that I would like to see!
@@TheBikingActor I'm way too old. I'd never get my foot up on the handle bar ;)
