i got to SCV before the hiatus and it was an honor to see them back in 2018! they've always my favorite corps
I'm super excited to see SCV back and can't wait for Cadets to get back ASAP. I went to college with Russ and he's a great supporter of DCI. He's gonna do great things with SCV and their future is very bright.
No cap I don’t think the cadets are coming back 😔
uhhhh so no cadets
@@gamerboi5651 Yeah, this sucks. I first saw them in 1988 and they have been one of my favs for years.
This aged...
Doubt we ever see the Cadets again bro...
Dear SCV,
Bring back the Aussies!
Dear SCV,
Please conspire with Madison to bring back G horns, send the babes packin from Madison (or maybe bring back the Capitolaires), and LOSE THE PROPS/1.21 GIGAWATTS of idiocy
@BOX6PerformancesStop all of the dancing and prancing.
And bring back bent leg!
@@sammysplatoon8216it's a natural style, similar to the Marines.

I’m so pumped, I’ve never seen SCV in the flesh yet
The first time I saw them in person was Finals of the 1981 World Championships in Montreal. I was in the veeeerrrrrry last row of Olympic Stadium ... and even all the way up there, they blew me away!
First time I saw them was in 1973 in Michigan City. Old Ames Field. They sold standing-room tickets along side of field, & a family had set up a picnic. Announcer said to keep certain areas clear, but family didn't move. I distinctly remember a SCV guard member marking time on a (former) bucket of chicken.
Neither has anybody else for 2-3 seasons.
@92vanguard "Finding Nirvana" was in 2022.... that was only 2 season ago.
Can't wait to see what they will do this year. I was very disappointed when I heard the news last year that they won't be in competition. Hope to see you in Annapolis this year. 🥁🎺❤
When Dan Potter asked about Traditions I'm still waiting on are we going to truly get Vanguard back? 2018 was cool 2019 was something....... the Indian show was a thing....... but I miss Vanguard
From the black hats with big white feathers, the green tunics, black pants, hourglass formation into the upper right corner of the field playing Greensleeves and their first tour to the East Coast, SCV has been a musical heaven for me! And that comes from someone with a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree and a life-long career in teaching at the collegiate level. Oh--and a major instrument of classical guitar. (Now that makes sense----French Horn minor). It would be a real tragedy if the return never happened!!
I can't wait to see them in boston
I agree with Russ - Santa Clara 1987 Great Gates Of Kiev was a life changing performance.
I would love to see new productions that embrace the thematic storytelling magic that connected Vanguard with their audience on an artistic and emotional level. It is time to disrupt the esoteric dialog between the designers and judges that is leaving the audience out of the equation.
Great to see SCV back on the field and I’m a BD fan!
It would be so cool if their show design included uniforms that resemble their original design along with playing my body is a cage again…it would almost be like a nod the their past and a rebirth back onto the field!
Great video, very interesting! Looking forward to seeing the SCV on the field this year!
DCI sweeping stuff under the rug? Never! In non-drum corps speak, we let people run the Corps that ran it in to the ground, now we're trying to get it back together. For the sake of the community, we truly hope so. ❤️💚
I'm so excited you're back...
I have seen this go down the wrong path before. I was shocked at what happened last year. Almost no Corp comes back after death. Like RIP Freelancers. RIP Suncoast Sound. etc...
They always have the best sideline music i swear
He hedged on the question of what they're going to 'look like' in '24, and focused instead on the goosebumps from the musical experience. That's cool and all, but the look is half of it, and SCV's look is/was iconic. It'll be interesting to see what he left out of his answer.
I'm glad they got their filings w/ CA DoJ sorted. But from documents posted online there are still problems - CPA firm specifically said that they cannot verify any of the numbers. And the bingo $ don't seem to be accounted for properly - it doesn't add up. I really hope they get this together so they can maintain a long term program.
Very enjoyable interview. Good job Dan Potter!
MY FRIENDS/IDOLS ARE GONNA BE IN SCV THIS YEAR, IM SO EXOTED TO SEE THEM!!!
PS love you Piper and Aiden❤
❤️💚
I just hope they're Vanguard again. Not Cadets doing an impression of Bluecoats from 6 years ago including the uniforms amd colors.
Its not a good sign that the audience can't tell who you are until they drum major is being asked if they're ready to compete.
dci needs to bring back trad uniforms. i need to see the iconic vanguard star as they match onto the field… 2024 uniforms are cool i guess, but the star is under the jackets. trad uniforms and shakos need a resurgence!
BABYLON❤ the best…cant wait for 24
Hmmm.... I am a big SCV supporter and have missed them while away. This interview didn't exactly give me confidence in a successful return. Answers given seemed a bit evasive and broad. Talking about giving great experiences and past staff returning. There were clearly concrete and specific mistakes made in the past in how the group was managed. Why not admit them and explain your plans for correction. This interview to me was very wishy-washy.
I would be thrilled to see them back to the world class corps that they were.
One year huh? Neat
The Santa Clara shows over the last couple of years have been very stale. Let’s hope they can deliver on this CEO’s mission statement and give the fans and the members a show they/we want to see and hear.
you can't tell me that is vanguard any more than some other non-descript corps. get back to your identity if you hope to have any kind of future existence.
you passed with the uniforms of 2017 and 2018, but 2019 and 2022 were disasters. if you wanna run this corps off a cliff then continue to turn your backs on what made Vanguard Vanguard.
B-I-N-G-O
and bingo was his name'O
Damp Otter FTW 🦦
Wish SCV the best in 2024
What about V Cadets?
Just vanguard not v cadets
Mergers have happened before. Toronto had the Oakland Crusaders for several years. The Vanguard Cadets would be awkward, it would demand an original identity, but who knows?
