When I was in grade school I had a Godzilla 1998 bookbag with a rubber Godzilla head coming out of the front of the bag and it wasn't easy sitting comfortably in the seats.
I think I have that back pack!

Man, this hit me right in the nostalgia. I had the curtains WITH a matching bedspread, and the glow in the dark battle on my wall as a kid!
The candy tongue is the most sus Godzilla merchandise I’ve ever seen. I never thought I would find something more sus than then the bathroom merchandise.

One of my favorite things about this channel is seeing stuff from my grade school years come up and having it unlock buried memories of the various Knick knacks and goodies. I had all of those stampers and a few of the erasers.

The most Godzilla stuff I found at antique stores were some Godzilla knock offs,a book,a Japanese destroyah in package and a trendmaster Godzilla.

I found one of the lunch boxes when I stopped in my local comic book shop a few years ago. Still had the thermos with which was a bit surprising. Absolutely had to snatch it up
I actually remember seeing that fishing pole in stores as a kid.

I had the Godzilla cup as a kid. The tag called it the "Gruesome Gulper".
The amount of merch that came out for G98 was bloody crazy.
Too bad Godzilla 2014 didn't quite get the same treatment.
Honestly I wish any movie had this kind of hype and merch drop. It was an amazing summer as a young Godzilla fan.
I had the Jar Jar candy as a kid and when my mother purchased that she just thought it was a toy. When I started eating it, she knocked it out of my hand, and I didn’t understand why.
Born in 2002, missed some great hype! As a kid, my dad had gotten me the glow in the dark action wall decoration, and he always wanted to put it up in my room but I would actually use the little army men buildings and the Godzilla to play my own games, it was kind of like my first Godzilla action figure if you will and the army man holding the bazooka, he was shorter than the rest and as a kid I was like oh he's the good guy he's the friend of Godzilla and all the other military dudes and the planes were just evil I would literally play off the floor with these to the dudes and I genuinely had so much love, and luckily it never got hung up :p
I remember a Godzilla chocolate bar with Godzilla's head moulded into the chocolate. It was awesome

Oh man. I remember those Not Pez dispensers, especially the FLIX ones. They started out with large gumballs and dispensers in big blister pack, but after a while they were made smaller, came loose but wrapped around with plastic, and the gumballs were soon replaced by those awful generic "Tart n' Tangy" things. They even had push pop knockoffs with the same toppers on them. I did have a Ninja Turtle of the Gumball dispenser variety, but the revived Push Pop/smaller candies varieties were a lot easier to find. I can't remember all the licenses they had for the smaller ones, but I did get an Inspector Gadget one (that thankfully looked like the cartoon, even though it was released for the movie), the first Raimi Spider-Man movie, and Casper, but based on the original comic character stock art. As for those kinds of mugs, those things were everywhere back in the mid-90's. Applause made a TON of them with licenses ranging from Looney Tunes, Muppets, Star Wars, even Animaniacs. Have a bunch of them in the cellar somewhere.

This reminds me of back when I was determined to write a book review of all the book adaptations of Godzilla 98 for TK. I think the only one I missed was the audio book version, unless you count coloring books… and sticker books :)

Stamp merchandise is such an oddity
I had boots for the snow, and a sweater all from the 98' movie.. might've had a lunch box. No thermos though, speaking of I had a "Small Soldier" thermos. I believe i had a 98' toy set with a building and a few army vehicles.
I definitely had two of the Godzilla tongue pops as a kid, and the Jar Jar Binks one too.

I remember those! I think the candy was either strawberry or cherry.
I definitely had the Soft Godzilla Lunchbox and Godzilla lollipop thing where he chomped as a lollipop spun over his head. But that is just some of the stuff in this video I had as a kid.
I had that mug! I also had a keychain. Man, my parents bought me a lot of stuff from this movie. Good times.

I actually own one of the lunchboxes and it’s a metal tin lunchbox but it comes with the same thermos as you have. And also that Monster mouth candy made me incredibly uncomfortable but it was also kind of funny at the same time

I had one of those articulated lollipop holding Godzillas when I was a kid. I kept it as a toy for a long time after eating the lollipop.
I lost it years later in life.
Crazy to think that, for a Godzilla movie that mostly every Godzilla fan didn't enjoy, there were tons of merch about it. And then with Godzilla 2014, a new Godzilla that was extremely well received by both fans and new public, there wasn't really that much merch.
I had these remote controlled godzilla toys with the shortest wire but the tails and head moved it was cool

Godzilla 1998 was my first Godzilla movie and it got me to become a Godzilla fan and collect figures from Godzilla

A had a stitton of the various kids books they made of this movie, junior novelizations, scrapbooks, behind the scenes, etc. Matter of fact I think I might still have some of them somewhere.

Holy cow I remember I had that mug of Godzilla 1998 back when I was a boy. Sadly it broke and I had a huge meltdown about it because it was my favorite mug.
When I was a kid my mom bought me a big godzila plushy it was like a plush that under it is thing and you open it and there a thing you press of it put it back presss on godzila boom shakes
I still have all the erasers, the lunch box, the glow-in-the-dark set, and the bowl.

I had this 98 walking Godzilla toy. Its legs moved and had wheels on the bottom so it would "walk" and it could roar. Man I wish I still had that thing. It was huuuuuge though and my folks tossed it at some point

I had a 98 Godzilla pen back in the day from a book fair, the tip of the tail comes off to reveal the pen and was not very comfortable to write with lol

This reminds me of how when I was a kid they slapped popular franchises onto everything, no matter how unconnected, yet not with him; man did I want a Godzilla utility belt and Hotwheels car.

Funnily enough I own all the erasers which use the same mold as the stamps. I got them off of eBay and they are in great condition, it's wild to know they shared molds with stamps.
I have 2 of the Flix heads with the Trendmasters-ish head and as for 1998 I still have my junior novelization of the movie by Scholastic and a pin Advertising the DVD release of the movie.
I remember some of this stuff.
