You're right! That IS my Godzilla! I still have it, and relatively recently picked up the Imperial King Kong to go with him. My Imperial spent many hours smashing up Micro Machine playsets.

I owned a bootleg version of the imperial figure, my dad got it for me from a Mexican flea market when I was 5 or 6 years old (1999-2000) It was 12 inches tall and resembled Godzilla from the Heisei era. It was one of my absolute favorite childhood toys growing up, putting it through so much abuse playing with it.
I spent a good few years trying to find the exact same one I had as kid, Until recently finding him in a lot with a officially license imperial Godzilla. Now they both have a prominent place in my collection.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I was born in 1985, and the six-inch Imperial Godzilla toy is absolutely the oldest possession I still have, and my most treasured! I first learned about Godzilla in conversation in kindergarten, my parents deigned to rent "Godzilla 1985" from the video store afterwards to show me what it really was; and after I psycho-zealously glommed onto the big G, they bought me this toy. The rest is a long history of me spending the rest of my childhood building big Lego cities to have this guy destroy with his five points of articulation, then retiring him to place of honour on my shelves, which he still holds to this day...

I was still a baby in a crib when my mom took us to a flea market and my brother grabbed an Imperial 6in Godzilla and a duck billed Dino they made too. My mom saw how much he liked them and found some VHSs as well. Godzilla vs Mothra, Godzilla vs The Sea Monster, and Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla. So the Big G has been in my life literally from the beginning! I still have the the VHSs and toys too!

I'm a '90s kid so most of my exposure to Godzilla growing up was with Trendmasters, but I do remember my uncle having the 6" figure on display in his living room atop the TV, and I saw a kid at the grocery store with one of the 13" figures that I got extremely jealous of (but now don't have to be as I picked up my own on eBay). I love the 6ft inflatable, and the sculpts for the 6" and 13" figures are actually surprisingly really decent (even if the paint job is questionable). It's cool to see that the line did actually have some tie-ins to Godzilla 1985. Plus, they paved the way for TM to come in which is admirable in its own right. Great video as always!

She only ever found 2 of the 12 inchers, and my dog ate half of one... but I still played with him as "Battle Damaged Godzilla"! :) I also had that 2 headed dragon, I used him as my discount Ghidorah.

I had the 6 and 12 inch figure, the 12 inch knockoff without the dorsal plates, the King Kong, the 2 headed dragon, AND Frankenstein's Monster (...and a bunch of Imperial dinosaurs). Before I even knew about Frankenstein Conquers the World, I'd pretend F's M was Kaiju sized and would battle (with and against) Godzilla and the other dinosaurs and monsters.
My sister and I would play this game where we'd go through this chest that had all the dinos/monsters/etc one by one like a draft. Then we'd each choose a one at random to do battle. Every battle ended in a tie, though, when they'd finish each other off simultaneously with a tail spin/drop kick/special move. It was like Pokemon before Pokemon.
Thanks for hitting me in the nostalgia this afternoon, MIB :)

I had three or four bootleg ones from Thailand. The first one looked very similar to the 12 inch one, but maybe a tad bit smaller and slimmer. It slowly deteriorated away and eventually lost through shipping between me coming to America. The second one was the 6 inch one. No different but it also got lost through shipping. May or may not have another one of this. Not sure tho. The third or fourth one is that big one that looks like a cross between Imperial and Trend Master Godzilla. It actually successfully made it to America and is still with me 'til today

Oh yeah, I had plenty of the Imperial and “Imperial” Godzilla merch. I had the five foot inflatable, a couple of the articulated figures, one was marked Imperial and the others I’m sure were bootlegs. My favorite was the big 15 (?) inch Godzilla with the weird head Mohawk and yellow back. I did some research and it turns out he was a “fake”zilla by Dor Mei. Still my favorite, simply because he scaled the best with my other toys.

MIB… dude, i don’t even know where to start with this video 😳 First, excellent coverage, and absolutely hilarious, as always 👍 I did indeed have an Imperial Godzilla growing up (the 6” i think) and my older brother had the Hong Kong Gorilla, which is actually more of a jiggler than a figure, believe it or not 🤔 I also had a bunch of figures from not only Dragons, Knights and Daggers but also Imperial’s _other_ MOTU cash-in line, Robots, Lasers, and Galaxies, as well as their Prehistoric Replicas dinos. And man, I’ve wanted one of the inflatable Gojis ever since i was a kid, but now i totally want that bubble blower too 😆 Speaking of the inflatable, one also appears in the truly awful Godzilla spoof/stoner movie “Ganjasaurus” 😅 And props to shouting out Plaid Stallions, owner Brian is an amazingly nice guy with an awesome site and YT channel, and has been killing it with the outstanding vintage toy books & magazines he has been producing 😎 Now if you’ll excuse me, i’m off to follow Imperial’s suggestion and apply stickers to my ears… and my flowerpots 😋

The only Imperial Godzilla figure that I currently own is the 6-inch figure that I found at a Goodwill oh so many years ago!

1:29 I still have that bigger Imperial Godzilla figure on my shelf! When I was little, I accidently stabbed my foot by stepping on one of the dorsal fins. A little splotch of red is still on it's back to this day.

2:53 Have that exact figure sitting in my living room, went to find it after seeing it in the video. Thing is still actually in great shape with no paint chipping. Always assumed it was some knock off Godzilla. Label on the foot says "1997, Made in China, Dormei"

1:26 the 6-inch figure is my very first Godzilla toy. The former wife of an uncle of mine gave it to me after finding it in the laundry room where she lived. From there, the rest is history. I was born in the late 90s, btw.

I wish I had one of those big Imperial Godzilla figures. I wish they still made the giant inflatable Godzillas because I want one now

I know how it feels to get light headed when inflating an inflatable with your mouth. It sucks, takes forever, and it can give you headache. But it's so cool to see all these new Godzilla merchandise that they sold back when my parents were kids. It makes me nostalgic and miss the good old days when every little thing was sensored by the RUclips police.

OMG that large Imperial Godzilla was in my family until it got lost/given away when we moved to a new town! Nostalgia indeed as it was my main Godzilla toy and the largest toy in my possession and always fun to use him to demolish my other toys. Pretty sure he was a China bootleg cause his tail had a extra length to it and a section that twisted to move it sideways plus he was about the size as the Kong you showed in the video. Wanna find it currently to add it back to my collection buy I assume even a bootleg version is pretty expensive.

As a kid, my godfather bought me the 12 inch imperial and that exact same finned bootleg Godzilla you showed (maybe 14 inches) and I loved them so much that the toys got me into watching the films. This was such a rush of nostalgia

still have my imperial 12" Godzilla figure, my parents bought it for me as a gift around the 90's when i was starting to get into Godzilla so literally it was my first Godzilla figure. Right now is on top of my desk in front of Neca's 12" Godzilla 2014, boy what a change to see them side by side. But still the imperial is still my favorite.

My dad and uncles must have bought the 6ft inflatable at least 9 times. There was ALWAYS some sort of leak...even when we patched it .
The 12 inch figure I got during the best Christmas I ever had. It was the last one my parents were together for. Beings back bittersweet memories

The 12 inch Godzilla was one of the first toys I ever had. My cat ended up chewing off two fingers though. Also there's a great photo of the band Megadeth with the inflatable Godzilla in place of their then drummer Gar Samuelson.

My first Godzilla toys were based on the '98 movie but one birthday, I got one based on the _real_ Godzilla, which I initially thought was an Imperial Godzilla figure, until years later when I found out it was unfortunately, a bootleg. It might've been made by the same guys who made the "pre-cyborg" Gigan bootlegs since they look so similar in sculpts.

Still have my big red splotchy chested Godzilla from when I was 7-8 years old in the before times known as the late 90's. My first action figure ever and the one piece I'll never get rid of.

You can tell the eyes on the toys are hand painted, they really went over the lines on that coloring book. Probably was a quick assembly line job, just this one guy painting one large blotch of white around where the eye is.
