Love this! Great interview. I am a big KISS fan, starting back in the mid-70's. But must of us fans from back then know how much ego Gene and Paul have. In fact, I experienced Paul's ego one night at their KISS Exposed video premiere in a Los Angeles hotel (around 1987). I was stoked to get a ticket/reservation to see it. After the premiere I wanted to get a pic with Paul in the lobby. It took like 2 mins for Paul to finally stand next to me for the pic, since he was infatuated with some chick coming down some set of stairs there as he was flirting with her. I still have the pic of he and I. And you can see I am less then impressed with the experience. I believe that was the one and only time I met Paul. Kind of pissed me off lol. BTW, love that Albert says Ace was fun and had all the talent in the band, you know that's right! Ace never took himself so seriously.

THE GOOD OL DAYS, prices didn't increase much. In 1982 my first concert was Iron Maiden opening up for Judas🎸🎸Priest $10.00 at Wing Stadium Kalamazoo Michigan. General admission back when you could get right up close next to the stage💨🌟 if you were close to the front of the line, before they opened the doors. We would then wear our $11dollar Concert t-shirts to school the next day.😉 lost quite a few but still have most of the tick stubs, guitar picks, and a slide from Mick Mars. What's the chances of catching one of those in a sea of people!!!✌

DAMN, I was there too! In Fulton County Stadium! Man, I nearly got heat stroke while standing in the crowd in front of the stage! Me & my friends moved over to the stands to get in the shade, smoked some hash, & watched the show from there. Do you remember when frisbees started flying all over the place, & the cops piled em all up on the pitchers mound in the roped-off infield? Then people stormed the infield, grabbed up the frisbees, & threw em all over the place again? It was a blast! That was my 3rd KISS concert, I was 18 at the time. 😎✌🏼
Oh, I still have my stub too. In fact I’ve got over 100 stubs I saved from all the shows I went to! 😎👍🏼

The two high and mighty jerkoffs basically rode Peter Chris’s coat tales to superstardom and thanked him by dumping all over him. Peter and Ace were the only 2 real musicians in their original line up. They dumped all over both of them. I hope Gene and Paul rot in hell.

Guess what? Albert Bouchard's background before forming Blue Oyster Cult was jazz drumming. I think this is what made him a cut above most rock drummers back in the day. I think it gives a player an edge, but unfortunately Peter Criss didn't take his bandmates' up on their offer.

I have no doubt about the arrogance of Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. True Story: In the late 80s I was in a garage band. Our drummer's dad, who absolutely hated KISS with great fervor, owned and operated a music store downtown. One day when KISS was playing at the civic center for 2 nights, one of their roadies came to my friend's dad's music store and asked for a case of bass strings. My friend's dad got the strings, rung them up, and told the roadie the price. The roadie got all arrogant and said "Oh, you don't know? These are for Gene Simmons of KISS!" My friends dad said "Yeah, great!" and told him how much they cost again. The roadie once again said "No, you don't understand. They're for KISS, you know, the rock band KISS?!!" So finally my friend's dad got pissed off and said, "I don't give a shit if their for God. Tell KISS to KISS MY ASS!"" Gene Simmons actually expected to get free strings just because of who he is. Shear arrogance! I realize it's easy to make up stories like this online and a lot of people do, but I swear this is no bullshit. It really happened and I was there when it did. 🤣🤣

I've read all the KISS autobiographies - Paul does explain that he was MASSIVELY Insecure because of a congenitally deformed ear, so he would act like a arrogant jerk. He was in psychological therapy for decades. He's such an emotionally needy guy that his autobiography came off like a Therapy Session.
Gene Simmons has no 'Inner Monologue', Irony goes right over his head. Things just worked - and Gene never seems to figure out why or how they worked BUT he'll take credit for that success anyway. As you can guess, Gene's a bit pompous.
Paul and Gene were, self-admitted, 'Control Freaks'.
Ace Frehley was THE PARTY ANIMAL of the group - everyone loves Ace, EXCEPT Paul and Gene. Ace's autobiography was the most fun, although he f*cked himself over a lot. Just crazy, drug fueled behavior.
Peter Criss' autobiography was also entertaining, but he also had a massive inferiority complex and Paul and Gene were always critical of him and Peter could never ignore their comments. Also, like Ace, Peter's worst enemy was himself.

The others were very popular and sold a lot of records. BOC’s influence was a lot greater than most think. They were one of the first American hard rock bands. A lot of later bands such as Metallica cite them as a major influence. Probably due to their constant touring throughout their career. I do have to say out of your list of legends, only Zep clearly tops them in musicianship. Queen is a toss up. Funny thing BOC was the band that dethroned Zep as a top touring act in the late 70s.

Then not much later I was front row to a Black Sabbath concert they were doing it again to the point Ronnie James Dio stopped the whole concert and said that if these guys don't back off the people they are going to piss off the stage his actual words he said the people come here to enjoy the show not get their asses kicked.
Jump forward within months front row
to the Cult, bouncers are pummeling people again they took this skinny little dude among others and started punching them so I gave them the finger they pointed flashlight at me and said get him and they drug me and threw me out during Godzilla encore.
