I have been dreading this and putting it off for a while. I knew it would be bad, and thanks to your video, I will not be doing this today either. Ugh these designs!!!
Thanks for your video and time.
I guess I'll see how high my grass will grow :-)
Thanks for giving me the courage to put this off for another time.

Thank you so much for showing with details the steps to do to get the belt around the shifter I was having a bad day until I saw your video it really help me get it done thx

I lifted and supported the rear of the mower about 8 inches off the floor. I then removed the clip from the shifter rod from underneath and lifted the rod out of the way on the trans-axel. I removed the idler pulley. I then removed two of the bolts on one side from the trams-axel and loosened the other two on the other side and the trams-axel dropped down enough to slide the belt over top of the pulley. I did not have to mess with the guides. I removed the steering gear and lifted the shaft out of the way. Total time was about 20 minutes after removing the deck.

Better still, just take the panel off the top of the steering wheel, the one that keeps it centred, and lift the belt over the top of the steering wheel. Good video, helpful.

I just did this belt on my Murray 16.5/42" (2003) and you do not have to pull the steering shaft pinion gear, just remove the two bolts on either side and the gear will move with the steering wheel and shaft just fine. Otherwise great video!

After adjusting the drive belt on my Scott’s, it still seems to be slipping and having a hard time moving. I am wondering if you have any tips on fixing it? I put the correct size belt on it.

Just discovered your channel and I am hoping you know which bagging system will work on a Scotts S1642H. I just bought this one and am ready to put it to work. I have not been able to find a reference to a bagging assembly specifically for this mower. Thank you

These machines are a rebrand. They are actually a 90's wide body black Murray with a different hood. Murray was never known for its baggers cause of thin height of the deck not working well with heavy cuts. They are out there but rare to find.
