- I was riding my riding mower and I heard clapping noise coming from under my mower, so I looked under the mower and saw that my drive belt was stretched and cracked, so in this video I am replacing the drive belt.
I hope this video is helpful. (if anybody has this type of riding mower her is the belt info)
on the mower, model # 465600X8A
drive belt size is 37X106MA --- when I ordered mine on amazon, it was 1/2""X87"" for 2003 Murray select riding mower 21hp 46" deck
www.amazon.com...
Cutting the pulley is nuts, just put the belt on rear and then the three small pulleys
Those are called vise grips not a channel locks :) Nice video though. No need to Dremel the steering hole, I just pull mine in and out with a little jerk.
This riding mower was badly used and the steering wasn't up to par, that why I used the dremel
Good to deburr it before you get hurt or someone else 😊
I can still do it thank you 👍
I have a feeling the guy who used the Dremel on the steering hole later in this video is the same guy who Dremeled the the transmission pulley, not smart at all, a hack job and it will wear belts more often now. You gave yourself away going on and on about how you never pulled the battery tray to ever see it lol It's ok sometimes you just don't have time :)
I bought the riding mower with the spindle like that, I took the battery out one, but not the tray, but I have mowed my grass for a very long time with that pulley like that and so far so good. I know it sounds like I gave myself away but that how it was. 😀👍
Olympics are easy.
Thats what my friend told me LOL 👍
Really not a good idea to boost with a new vehicle 😢
Just to let you know
Thanks for the info,,, but I have been jumping my riding mower like that for over a year, my truck is old, but far from new LOL. the battery in the riding mower is completely dead, that's why I jump it.😀
Cutting a notch in the pulley is totally unnecessary. Rather than buy an 87" belt, I already had an 86". Got it on in the same sequence you used but there is a common technique of pulling belts on pulleys - using the pulley itself to do the work while turning the pulley with a ratchet and socket. Of all the videos showing trans belt replacement on a Murray, yours is the most helpful. Cheers!
I bought the riding mower like that, funny thing is I didn't know the pulley was like that. I have been cutting my grass with no problems. I didn't know till I took the battery out.
Thank you for sharing this video! There isn't a lot of info on the 2002-03 mowers. I have had problems after changing my belt. I'm thinking with the pulleys and spring.
Your welcome , if your pulleys and spring are bad , ther is a possible chance it could be it,,, my pulleys on mine were all good ,,, it was just my drive belt that was stretched and had alot of cracks around the whole belt. Is your belt new??
@@jrztoolzmore9991 Yes, new belt. I will check the pulleys and spring. I'm thinking about a tighter belt. Maybe 1/2 x 87 instead of 89.
Less talk and more work ???
I keep telling myself that, more video just less clips for me to edit! Thank you for letting me know and thanks for being kind about letting me know 👍😀
@@jrztoolzmore9991I’m not trying to hurt your feelings, just hoping more people will watch your videos and learn from You 😊
