    Love the thunderstorm; the dark clouds and the lightening, and the overall scenery!
    The captions are really helpful.

      Thank you!
      The thunderstorm area is naturally dark as it has a low ceiling with no way to install lighting above. So lemonade from lemons...

    That's a great layout! I love your use of narrow bench work. Just like I want my dream layout to look like.

    Glad to see another standard gauge C&S modeler on youtube! I'm a little earlier and to the south, C&S Falcon branch 1920's. I had a little chuckle seeing South Denver as a location as that's the northern staging terminus of my planned model railroad. thanks for some great inspiration in this video.

    Really enjoyed this, I grew close to Loveland and wandered the tracks from Berthoud to north of Loveland. I was nice to see the parts of the line south of Longmont. Wonderful!! Now lets get some videos with the 600's and sugar beet campaign?

    • @CSRYfan

      Steve, see old Niwot at about 11:30. On the right you'll see the old beet dump for horse-drawn wagons. So the possibility exists...
      Thank you for viewing and commenting.

    I only discovered your channel recently, but what a find ! I truly enjoy all of your videos, but most of all I like how you present yourself and the topics you cover. Your explanations of how to do things carefully done and easily understood. Especially for someone like myself who needs this information to progress. I hope you have done a DC to DCC wiring change over for locos. Especially for diesel models that are older. Older than the recent advancements. If that makes any difference.

      I'm glad you enjoy the videos. All engines are DCC equipped as the layout is fully DCC, from its very beginning.

    A very nice video and layout. I have plans to expand my own HO scale layout (on which I'll be modeling the Pennsylvania Railroad), though I don't believe mine will be quite as large as yours.

      Thank you. My original layout was half of what it is now. I expanded into the adjacent room in 2008. See the layout website link in the channel banner for details.

    Congrats on an amazing layout. Love the overall quality of the scenery. I see a speaker under the layout at 13:50. Do you have ambient sound for the entire layout or just your thunderstorm feature?

    • @CSRYfan
      @CSRYfan  Год назад +2

      Thank you for your kind words.
      There is a lot of audio on the layout, starting with sound in all of the locomotives. There are sounds when engine services are activated in Rice Yard, arrival and departure announcements in Union Station -- the speaker seen right at the "time warp" late in the video, water features, and the thunderstorm.
      But I wouldn't call this "ambient sound". The prevailing sounds on the layout come from moving and idle engines.

    Is that kudzu to the right at 11:30 min. ? Wow !

    • @CSRYfan
      @CSRYfan  Год назад +1

      Nope, that's just a stand of tall trees hiding the right end of the beet dump. They appear thin when viewed edge-on as they have no real depth. People viewing the layout can't see this view as they can't get their eyes where the cab ride camera can -- the camera reveals some interesting things!

    0:18 what is the deal with the guard/check rails? It's an interesting sight.
    Shoot! That's a nasty looking storm.
    Damn good job, mate! *****

    • @CSRYfan

      Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed the show!
      The guard rails at 0:18 are to re-rail any derailments before the two curved turnouts. The helix has a very tight 21 inch radius, and some 3-axle trucks are a bit stiff and are not fully on the rails when they get to the top.

      Thanks Roger. The Mainline is 210 feet visible, and 40 feet through staging and helix.
