Cougar Pride
At Orangewood, we are using the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS)
process. PBIS is a combination of promoting positive school culture initiatives with positive discipline programming. We have four school-wide rules, which cover every area of our campus during school hours. These new rules are referred to as our "Cougar Pride" expectations:
Respect Yourself
Respect Others
Respect Learning
Respect Property
The new expectations are also tied to positive incentives, such as "caught being good" coins. When a student is exhibiting respectful behavior according to the expectations, they may receive a coin as a reward. The coin is then turned in to the classroom teacher, and each class has a goal tied to a classroom reward. As the year progresses, we will add more positive incentives to encourage students to exhibit respectful behavior throughout the school.
