I'm a newcomer to Cheap Trick! How much I've got to catch up on! Mr Zander rocks! What a voice! Working my way through their back catalogue is a labour of love!!
Next Position Please and One on One with Jon Brant on bass are great albums some will overlook because Tom Petersson isn't on them, but theyre all so good you'll be happy singing with them.
Also, some great rarities and obscure (non-album) tracks on the "Sex, America, and Cheap Trick" box set. I highly recommend listening to that one once you've sifted through the albums
The mid to late 90's was an especially great era for CT, and this clip is proof-positive. I've seen them many, many times through the years, beginning in summer '79 and most recently in fall '18... and I'd say that when I saw them in '97 at Stubb's BBQ in Austin is tied for the #1 spot with the first time I saw them in '79. They were just on fire at this time, having finally been released from their long-suffering horrible contract with Epic. They were rejuvenated and had a renewed passion, and it definitely showed when they played live. This is a great clip from a real high point in their long history.
Yep, this was a really good era for CT. I saw them a year later in '97 and they were just on fire. I think they had just finally been released from their horrible contract with Epic, and they busted out with guns a-blazin'. I've seen them something like 13 or 14 different times through the years, and that '97 gig is tied for the #1 spot with the first time I saw them in June '79. They're always great live, but in the late 90's they were really burning brighter than normal
No auto pitch vocals no taped fillers. Raw fucking hard rock. Unbridled Untouchable Unbelievable Talent. This is why I've seen them 22 times since Live At Buddhakhan. Only Halford can hang with Robin.
My first show seeing this band was 1980, most recent was summer of 2019. In the mid 90s I caught them at a lot of bar shows. These guys never seem to care where they play, they always bring it.
The late 90's was an especially great era for them. Like you, I've seen them many, many times through the years, beginning in June '79 and most recently in September 2018, and though I've never seen them put on anything less than a great show, they were especially on fire at this time.
Saw them 5/6 times in London '78 > '80... seen many, many top rock bands, imo only Queen come close to them live. Proud owner of one of Rick's plectrums from row 4 at Hammersmith Odeon, London.
Prefer this over the studio version - on fire... Especially Robin and Tom, and Bun E and Rick, lo Cool to be able to hear Tom and Rick's backup vocals Audio quality good for youtube
GREAT period for them. I'd say the mid to late 90's were their 2nd golden era (the first obviously being the late 70's). They were on fire at this time. The album they put out in '97 was their best album since Heaven Tonight.
I don't know what it is about Cheap Trick...? Everyone I know who's into them has seen them multiple times. I think I've seen them probably 8 times also....and ALWAYS amazing!!
When I'm unsure if I want to go see a band I've never seen and find out Cheap Trick is opening for them, it becomes a safe choice as I know I'm going to enjoy Cheap Trick. They make sure I get my money's worth.
Yup, it's just their music, sound and their raw energy when they play live. I first saw them in 1977 when they did their first big US tour opening for KISS, see them maybe 25 times live since that first concert!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad they finally made it into the RRHOF
What struggle? Robin's just as awesome here as ever (and he's still awesome today). No 'struggle' here. The fire is just pouring out of all of them. The mid to late 90's was one of CT's best eras.
These guys are the reason we can't really like new bands. The bar has been set too high. I want Bun back in the band. Pay the guy. Drummers not getting royalties is bull shit.
@@nikosatsaves3141 "wipe the wax"? Really? I'm sorry you don't know what heavy metal music is, but don't try and flip this around to make it look like I'm the one who's musically confused. Black Sabbath is metal. Slayer is metal. Iron Maiden is metal. Cheap Trick is power pop married to hard rock. This is pretty much common knowledge to anyone who's a true fan of Cheap Trick, or to anyone who knows the difference between metal and hard rock. No, I'm pretty sure it's you who needs to "wipe the wax", bud.

How'd that go Ivy? Heaven Tonite?
Best pipes in the biz!

Zander is incredible.
Love the live shows from this era. They were playing like they really had something to prove, with an intensity that just COOKS. Remarkable.

Great band. And Zander has always been HUGELY underrated. People that get it get, but he doesn’t get the credit he deserves.
The greatest band ever.👍
This band's too good -- always -- like WAY TOO GOOD!
top notch performance from the whole band! Cheap Trick is the only band who gets better and better every single year!!!!
No auto pitch vocals no taped fillers. Raw fucking hard rock. Unbridled
Untouchable
Unbelievable Talent.

WOWOW what a KILLER vocal!!!!!! 2 of my favorite songs!
Man, they were like a juggernaut round this time. This is a great clip.
Bun E Carlos is the reason I got into drumming. Cheap Trick is the reason I got into Rock N Roll.
Shame- no Bun E anymore.
Gotta have Bun E. He completes their concept. Glad both times I saw them he was at the kit.
One of the best live bands ever...Opening for Aerosmith tonight in my home town (Boston) Seen them 3 times...awesome & LOUD!!!
My first show seeing this band was 1980, most recent was summer of 2019. In the mid 90s I caught them at a lot of bar shows. These guys never seem to care where they play, they always bring it.
Live at budokan is the hottest show ever, rock/ metal wise. Check it out

one of their best songs from one of their best albums
Which song? There are 2 here.
Stop This Game is awesome. Loved seeing them perform in the mid-90s through early 2000s. Top form.
Songs that never let you forget they rock and they could write. Not a boring song from either record these songs were on.
I wasn't a big fan of "All Shook Up", but Stop This Game is a killer track
Saw them on this tour 2 months before…love their 90s stuff WUWAM, ‘97
They kill it everytime 🙌🔥🎶🖤
i love these guys

The Beach was an awesome club! I was at this show.
If you haven't heard their Sgt. Pepper Album Live 2009 concert, do it and be amazed.
I think the 90's was their best live period. They were masters of their craft by then. Of course they still rock!
Late 90's at least
agreed!! just saw them last Tuesday in Boston. This was my 13th time seeing them. One of my favorite live bands!
The best of all the land!
Great band!!!!
Wow! That’s seriously cool!
Sooo good !!!!
Excellent!!! Wish I had been there!
Time passes by and Robin's voice stills the same! LOVE CT!!
n we love rick neilson n bunny carlos and tom, what a great bunch of individuals, that had their own styles also;)
So so good👏👏👏👏👏👏❤️
great performance
Wish they dressed like this again....just saying...#rockfashion. no doubt best ever of these songs....omg
🤘🏻🤘🏻🎸 🎸 🌹
I wonder how many bands they opened for thought these guys are way better than us.
A whole bunch
Great question! If they're being honest with themselves, ALL of them should've had a "we're not worthy" moment.
I've always called them the best opening act I've ever seen and meant it as the ultimate compliment.
This is the shit. Right here right now!
...I must be dreamin'...
r u kiddin sounds great
rick looking hott, wanna pull his man beard,,, n tom omg, robin spectacular!! bun eeeeee whee the beat u drive me cra cra

Idiot comment, best singer EVER

@@Marcela302012 i know it's surprising of a reply. How are you doing?
Zander still tha man
Is that a Kramer Rick is playing?
Was this in 1996, the box set tour?
Yep. Great era for them.
Check out Rick's beard! Weird to see since he was always clean shaven for so long.
I know, when I first saw him I thought, man how long did it take for Rick to braid that part of his beard
Get down with your big-hatted self, Tom! :)
You can tell its a struggle, but Robin still delivers! Getting old sucks!
No. Just...no.

He gets his royalties, Daxx kills it too
Man, im so depressed. These guys are trying so hard to wipe styx out of my metal madness
Did i say heavy band? Xcuse me, i meant heavy metal band
Cheap Trick is most definitely *NOT* a metal band.
