There is not a speck of doubt in this wonderful performance, The wonderfulness and comfort of this performance is off the charts amazing, and full of the admiration and emotions .
That discordant violin at 0.30 really sets the tone. And the xzylophone at 2.04 sounding like rattling bones. Creepiest, thrilling music at its best. Thank you CS-S
Beautiful to hear different versions of this song. This one seems to be approached with precision and a solid tenderness. I must honestly say that the ghostly swung and souplesse of the version from orchestre de Paris touches me more. Thought its all magnificently beautiful.
For anyone interested, there is a cover version out there: Epica - The Ghost In Me (Danse Macabre) They also played it live with 50+ people orchestra in the AFAS Live Amsterdam
the soloist has a WONDERFUL tone. For my sins i was a professional string player myself for about 25 years though in my case on the double bass and i have performed this piece in concert a few times
He may get a nice tone, but he needs to practice with the metronome a bit more. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he was trying to be different by starting the introductory tritones off the clock (which BTW didn't work for me). But he had tempo problems throughout (rushing the tutti, etc.).
Perfectly executed! For us Dutchies it's made famous by Spookslot in Efteling. October 31st its successor will be opened there, called... Danse Macabre! Hopefully the orchestra will do Le Carnaval des Animaux sometime!
My favorite piece of music. Executed by true musicians. Check out the main violinist. Bloody lovely. I would love to shake his hand and tell him that he rocks.
The piece of music let's your mind into the world that it is meant to take you. All the stiffs and ghosts dancing in the cemetery. That piece of music is awesome and then some. I love it so much.
The majestic strings! The rapturous trumpets! When Lord Death cometh to serenade us unto the next realm, he cometh a-dancing with sinfully unbridled passion!

Fabulous performance. My only wish is that more timpanists would really go for that unspecified crescendo into rehearsal E and rip it good like the Dutoit recording.
Vielen Dank! 🤗
