- #9 USC faced #5 Penn State in the 2017 Rose Bowl. In a back and forth game the Trojans found themselves in a two touchdown deficit in the fourth quarter. With a minute left Darnold threw a dime to Deontay Burnett for a touchdown to tie the game at 49. USC then intercepted it and marched down the field for Matt Boermeester to kick the game winning field goal. USC won the Rose Bowl 52-49. Darnold finished the game going 33-53 for 453 yards and five touchdowns.

my fav part of these videos is seeing all the guys that are stars in the nfl/ how loaded these college teams actually are
Absolutely agree
Yeah its crazy to think that schools like usc and Penn state produce nfl talent. I can't get my mind around it.
@@Benderthegr865 well kids like you started watching in football in 2016, you don’t know shit about football. When it comes to you struggling to wrap your mind around anything, I imagine that’s a daily task for you.

Possibly the greatest traditional Rose Bowl ever (meaning Big 10 vs Pac-8/10/12)
Because the greatest Rose Bowl ever is def Texas def. USC
@@evopeto00 THE YEAR Vince young got away with a Knee being down on 4th down . Ended the game but the refs blew the call giving Texas a 41-38 win.

Its too bad Penn St. Never played much Defense this season..that Off was 🔥
It’s a shame bc there defense was so bad lol
If darnold can’t get it done with dj moore Robby Anderson Terrance Marshall and Christian mccaffrey he’s absolute ass butter
I think he’ll get it done, Adam Gase is a dumpster fire and shouldnt coach for any NFL team ever again. I truly think Darnold is good and it’ll be shown in Carolina.
He'd get it done 100% if he never went to the Jets, IDK now though -- a lot of guys can't come back from really bad starts.
I feel bad for the kid Adam gates is a piece 💩
@@TurtleTurtlez Tannehill is an example of a good QB but had situation in Miami. Now he’s top 10.
I think darnold has a 30 plus TD season in him. Hope he can do it this year
Two teams playing football , having fun, utilizing their talented skill players to their fullest potential. Letting it all hang out at full throttle. Just throw it ! Great game . This game makes you fall back in love with the sport ....
Penn State fan here; this was simply an amazing game. Any fan who sees this game and is upset takes sports too seriously.
This is one of the most entertaining games I've ever seen.
Same way us USC fans feel about the Texas game, this was an honor to play u guys and I hope y’all can return to this point
I’m a psu fan I was at the game it was crazy game just glad I was there
I agree - some games come down to who had the ball last..it was amazing to watch the highlights! As much as Sam Darnell passed for 453 yards, it ws the USC defense that came up large in the last minute with the interception.
That saquon td run was insane
As a USC fan it is maddening that this is our last bowl win. 5 fucking years ago. Obviously showed that Clay Helton was saved by Sam Darnold. I remember people said near the end of that season that if USC played Alabama again, it would have been closer. No it wouldn't have. It would have been another ass whooping
That was the same USC team who got blown out by a decent but not elite Stanford and lost to a decent but not elite Utah.. later in the season they beat a decent 10-4 Colorado and traveled to Washington and beat them by almost the same amount that Bama did. It definitely would’ve been closer, I’d say Alabama 38-27.
@@kev614 no it wouldn't have. Alabama had an all world defense that year. They would have crushed USC again. Clay Helton would have had no game plan going into that game if they played again.
@@greg7964 do you spend all day imagining hypotheticals like a child? Get a fucking job🤦🏽♂️
@@hapisky5013 I have a fucking job you dipshit. I'll spend all day imagining how many hypotheticals I want. Last thing I need is some random ass dumbass telling me what to do.
@@kev614 215 yards. 3 touchdowns. One half.
Saquon was insane in college man
Did the commentator say he averaged 15 yards a carry?
Is this the same Sam Darnold playing for the New York Jets?
Nope!
Absolutely not. Gase killed Darnold and I will die mad about it
Jets who?
I remember watching this live such a good game
This is for Ju Ju: “You either die a hero” (Leveling Vontaze Burfict) “or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain” (Dancing on teams’ logos and being obsessed with Tik Tok)

Thank you Penn State for CG14! BUCSSSS
Sam Darnold
Jeez what a game
That was the season that started off with USC losing to Alabama 52-6. Max Browne was the starting QB and was just not getting it done. For starters, Clay Helton likes a pure pocket passer and in all his years at USC, he hasn't been able to assemble a solid offensive line that'll protect his quarterback. Darnold came in to replace Browne and proved he could be deadly to defenses with his feet. The pattern repeated with J. T. Daniels, a pure pocket passer, getting injured due to lackluster support from the front line. Daniels later transferred to Georgia where he's having breakout games and contending for the SEC championship. Kedon Slovis took his place and like Sam Darnold, has used his feet to make plays that keep the Trojans winning more often than losing.
Max browne man waow
Love your channel!!!
Panthers are gonna save his career
I hope so! Saints need a challenge
@BEEFCAKE 306 idk about that. Winston n Hill were taught by brees very well. N during his injures the saints were 8-1 without him, so we're fine.
This is realistically his last chance to stay in the league..he and josh rosen are fighting got their professional football lives..

That freshmen shows poise
Refs did a great job winning for USC this year...
AND THIS IS WHY WE SHOULDN’T HAVE A 12 TEAM PLAYOFF BECAUSE INSTEAD OF GAMES LIKE THIS MOST TEAMS THAT MISS THE PLAYOFFS BUT MAKE A NEW YEARS SIX BOWL HAVE NO SHOT AT MAKING IT TO THE SEMIFINALS WHEN THE 12 TEAM PLAYOFF COMES AROUND BUT GREAT VIDEO 👍
I agree 100 percent
Saquon is crazy
They ran to the PSU side at the end 💀 🤣🤣
As a USC fan, I still don't like that. Not classy at all but great win nonetheless.
Is that Mark Sanchez to the left at the beginning??
Didn’t u do a video on m this 4 years ago
Half way through this and it’s really hard to believe penstate loses this game. Even though i know they do.
Central Michigan Vs Oklahoma State please
Crazy how many of these people are currently playing in the NFL
11:39 Lmfaoooo
Mark Sanchez you sneaky bastard... 0:01
JuJu 😈
Hoping Lincoln Riley can make them a powerhouse again like the early 2000s.
The season where Sam Darnold pulled a miracle for USC then got chewed out for extending plays vs running what Helton had called. Darnold's response C-YA. Darnold will receive 18+ million from the Carolina Panthers per his 5th year NFL deal. Lotta money for a Communication major, former linebacker recruited by Justin wilcox for USC turned QB. 2016 the last year USC won a bowl game under Clay Helton.
Watching old Penn State videos just to remind myself how good Saquon was and still is
Chris Godwin and Saquon on the same offense was just unfair. both had career games here
Welcome to the NFC South!
CAR will make playoffs this year
@@jonathanfrimerman8855 i hope so. They need to beat Brady.
alright Sam, time to bring it with the Vikes, last chance for your pro career.
His bumass has been living off this game for like 5 years lmao

It was more the defense than anything
Saqoun Barkley
What
Sorry but what about him I’m just curious Ik he played in this game and in penn state for a few seasons before heading into the nfl but I’m just asking out of curiosity what do you mean by Barkley?
The time Texas upset #1 USC 😉
The time Texas Tech upset #1 Texas
@@greg7964 Earl Thomas to this day swears he heard a whistle and that’s why he quit going for a tackle on Crabtree, but overall that game was very intense
Darnold. Bust in the nfl. Yeah good in this game but psu gave him a scare. It was a home game for usc
Gase and the jets absolutely ruined him. Not his fault lmao
The time refs being very unfair
I will never understand why they always make the Big Ten travel so far for a bowl game. I think these two teams were neck and neck but I think that Penn State would’ve won had it been an actual neutral site instead of in California. Same thing with Michigan playing FSU in Florida that year which was also a very close game. These are nice videos and keep up the great work though! This might be my favorite new channel.
You guys kill me with this neutral field argument regarding the Rose Bowl being in favor of California teams. I'm a USC fan but look what happened to us in 2006! That's the only argument I need but for the Big 10's sake, I hope USC gets to play more of you guys in neutral fields so you would shut up about it!
@@hiphoprbloverjon9180 What happened to y’all in 2006?
@@kev614 USC lost to Texas in the Rose Bowl. You know, the greatest CFB game ever played?
@@hiphoprbloverjon9180 Oh yeah, (definitely off topic) but if it was a 4 team playoff that year it’d be
1. USC
4. Ohio State
I think USC would win that game like 38-31 in a very close game because we actually almost beat Texas but it was at home and we beat Notre Dame by more but USC was overall reallyyyyy good. The other matchup would be
2. Texas V 3. Penn State
I think that Texas wins that in a close game like 31-24 because their common opponent was Ohio State and they both won that game but Texas did it on the road which I thought was impressive.
I really would’ve loved if there was a playoff since 2000 because imagine the matchups!
Bowl games weren't meant to be played in the snow...Pasadena is where most teams in the country would rather play in January. Its the perfect climate that time of year
Sam Darnold didn't do it, he had much help. Give credit to the other men. Stupid title, July 22, 3021
July 22, 2021.
I agree, that’s not my point though with this video. It was to emphasize how good of a game he had.
dude broke the rose bowl passing TD record, nobody is denying that he had help but he was instrumental in the win
Saquon ran all over them.
But then the Buckeyes came along. Hahahaha
Darnold never stunned a decent team in the SEC. Remember USC is in the PAC...and P does not stand for Pacific.
This 1 game overrated Darnold
