    I like the weight of it for sure. But do you need to disassemble it every time to charge it?

      The weight and size of it are really nice! Technically you could charge it while assembled, since you would just have to stick the end of the battery (that usually plugs into the module) to the battery charger. However, it might be safer to disassemble and remove the battery when charging.

      @@uavcoach great video but unless I missed it, what kind of battery life does it have?

    Don't have a drone yet, but I might be getting a good used one, probably a larger DJI. Are there any which could tap off the drone's battery instead of a separate one? I do have extensive electronics experience.

      I personally haven't heard of any modules that could tap off the drone's battery - but could be interesting to research further.

    What is the point of this? Is it just used to track the drone or is it now mandatory, even for recreational drone users?

      As far as the weight of your is 250 grams or less with everything on it as you may already know only then the drone could be classified as recreational. I do know that a recreational operator does not need one for every drone however a 107 licensed drone pilot actually does in the long run could be a costly investment for multiple drones. It's a shame the laws changed on this creating many people to sell off their drones.
      I myself only have one commercial drone since my previous one was stolen so it's not bad, investment wise and I rather be in compliance myself.

      Remote ID is like a digital ID card for drones. It helps track them in the sky to prevent accidents and keep everyone safe. It is mandatory for all drones that weigh over 250g (commercial or recreational). If you are commercial, you need to be compliant regardless of the weight. Some drones have Remote ID built in, which you can check here: uasdoc.faa.gov/listDocs
      If your drone is not on that list then you need to purchase an external module (like the one in this video) so it can broadcast Remote ID. We have a short video that goes more in depth about it here: ruclips.net/video/PfxqX-xS4vs/видео.html

    Drone weighing less than 250 grams ie; mini 2 etc. are not required to have a "tracker". CALL IT WHAT IT IS!

      For recreational

    • @uavcoach
      @uavcoach  Месяц назад

      This only applies for recreational flyers. If you are flying commercially, you need to comply with Remote ID regardless of weight.
